They were actually the early favorites to get Orakpo. Wnen teams realized the interest, suddenly Orakpo shot up the boards. The Redskins then did what they could to generate interest in other players. They did not PLAN it to happen, but nor did they simply sit and wish. They took measures to help increase the chances of it... and then got a few idiots to help by making stupid picks. Did he "fall in their lap"? Perhaps... but they did their share of oiling the skids to help it along.

You NEVER heard the Redskins SAY they were interested in Sanchez... it was all based on rumor and second hand info. The only interest the Redskins openly displayed was when they had Sanchez do a private workout... which they routinely do with multiple players.

They WANTED Orakpo. They were surprized when he fell... but that's who they wanted... and that's who they would have taken if they had been able to trade up.

They DID want Cutler... but at the time, it was considered a no brainer that he was an improvement over Campbell. That's not spin... it's simply the fact as it was at that time. He would have improved the team. On the other hand, if they had wanted him that badly... you know Snyder... they would have gotten him.

And, you still can't cite an example of negative spin on Campbell by the Redskins.

I do see what you are saying, however, IMO, replacing or attempting to replace your qb with anyone, no matter how good they are, is negative spin. I guess we will just have to disagree on that.

I think the perception around the NFL was that the Redskins lacked confidence in Campbell. It doesn't really matter if this was true. Perception can matter more than reality.

I really hope Campbell becomes a really good QB in the NFL - there was no way he could or would become anything more than a QB that tried to be better but just could not put all the pieces together with the Redskins

time for both this franchise and Campbell to move on - the Raiders came out well on this and it only cost them a 5th - good deal all round

BOT - I really question the wisdom of giving much if anything for Jackson - this guy is not exactly interested in helping anyone but himself and he's got a lot of baggage - I think he stays in San Diego and he better straighten up for his own sake
