markshark84 wrote:You can believe what you want, but a lot of what you said is contradictory. JC was a WCO QB at Auburn (and as we all found out quickly -- not a downfield passer), Hayneworth came to the skins because he didn't have to hold up blockers (and why he currently wants out), Orakpo did rush the QB, ARE as a return guy was only because they didn't want to use Moss and had no one else (which they ended up having to use Moss because of how poorly ARE played). As far as the DBs, playing off the ball, that was part scheme and part player. Blanche would critize the DBs for that.

JC was a West coact Qb in college...OK just so happened he had two top 5 picks in his backfield. I dont care what the hell offense you run in college its not the pros. Two most important aspects to a WC QB 1.)Quick release 2.) Quick decision maker....let me recall for a sec....oh yea that were 2 things JC WAS AWFUL AT!! Case in point that he was never a good fit to be an NFL(sorry I didnt declare that detail before I figured we would be talking about NFL skills) West Coast QB.

Now to Haynesworth, I happen to remember that Haynesworth was complaining for the last 2 months of the season that Blache wasn't letting him get up field I get the links to the story if you didnt follow the Redskins at all toward the end you might not have heard that whole debacle. Also Haslett said that Haynesworth would play all positions at D-Line, and more then likely he will be a DE with Keomatu at NT and Carriker at the DE.

Orakpo did rush the passer your right. Jim Haslett said "Orakpo rushed the QB about 250 times out of 1000 snaps". I dont want him playing effing OLB 75 % of the time. His best ability is to rush the passer so when he only does that 25% of the time its not putting him in the best chance to be successful and make the greatest impact. So your argument of "Orakpo did rush the passer" yea well you could say the same about Reed Doughty because he had a sack last year. So since he was out in coverage or on gap assignment 75% of the time he was out there I am going to say he was an OLB when he should of been a DE. Before you try to say "Well hes going to be an OLB this year" because you sound like you would make such an asinine argument, an OLB in 3-4 is basically a 4-3 DE.

Now on to ARE....this one just makes you look football challenged. What about Devin Thomas, Deangelo Hall, Justin Tryon, and yea you mentioned Santana. Hmm...Why the hell wouldn't they use Santana? Oh wait now I remember, because he was such a huge cog to our heavily potent offense couldn't afford to put him back their to get a spark. This Coaching staff stuck with Randle El because they were vaginas. They were scared someone else would fumble. We had plenty of other people to do it. Would they have been spectacular at it and had 5 returns for TD's...who knows? What I do know is they wouldn't of had to do too much to have a better PR avg. then ARE who had one of the worst in the league, and 1 TD would have been an improvement over 0. They never took a chance to try anything another example of being stubborn. I also remember the story were Zorn said in a post presser that they wouldn't be using ARE anymore. Then the press asked ARE and he responded that he hadn't heard that, and that he was going to talk to Zorn about it. A week later guess who was back at punt return?

The DB's playing that far off was part scheme you say. Well then that means the coaching staff was at some fault and didn't put them in the absolute best position to take advantage of their best attributes. I guess Laron just liked being 30 yards of the ball, I am sure that was his choice too, since the guy lives to play in the box.

markshark84 wrote:The TOs thing has been a constant issue for many years, how many drops did Rodgers have over the past 3 years? Can you chalk that up to scheme? What about the insane amount of broken tackles -- was that scheme? Getting stops when we needed them -- that was also an issue; did this have anything to do with the amount of time our D spent on the field? Did it come down to a test of wills? Or was it scheme?

....I just watched the Caps lose game 7...I'm too depressed to keep arguing this

He's talking about what he expects to happen in the future, based on the current team.

There are no facts, other than.

1. Three teams in the NFCE have made changes in personnel... changes due to the draft, free agency, and retirements. One team made changes strictly because the roster was broken.

2. The Redskins and Eagles changed QBs. One has years of experience playing in the NFCE, the other will be starting his first season as the starter on day 1. The experience is much better than the guy he replaced against the NFC East. The new guys is... new

3. One team changed their coaching staff and schemes (last coaching change didn't include a scheme change on defense). This means 3 teams in the division will have adjustments to make. Adjustments on offense because they will not be facing the same scheme they have faced for two regimes, and on defense to different scheme run by a QB that knows their tendencies and weakness.

4. Everybody starts out 0-0 and what they did last year has no relevance.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anybody "dominate" this division. Let alone a team that was 4-12 last year. It just seems ridiculous to me.

It's still just a player making statements at a time that just indicates (to me anyway) how much better things are out at Redskins Park - I don't see that it needs to be deeply analyzed or critiqued, given the circumstances - why try and look at it negatively or try and put down what was said?

we are obviously NOT going to dominate the NFC EAST - BUT .... we are going to be a VERY much improved football team and IMO especially on defense

just accept that one of our better players is getting excited about the possibilities here this season

IT"S NO BIG DEAL

Stick to football, CLL, b/c you've no idea on the other. I embrace those activities in school, but I'm a detractor of Hall's predicted dominance.

It IS ridiculous to me... but Hall has every right to feel the way he does and every right to voice that opinion..

I just hope he's right for a change

I have the "screw me once, my your fault, screw my twice my fault" mentality. I was excited last year when I heard all his hype and then when the year hit, I wasn't impressed. That's why I'm not biting this year. Just my meager, inconsequential opinion which, as an armchair GM, feel the need to get on my soapbox to express :moon:

I don't have an issue with him saying it. I don't see other teams seriously posting on their bulletin boards in the fall Hall said in April we'd dominate the division. But I'm with you that I don't buy it either.

Thank you. That's exactly the point. AND .... it would seem to be the prevailing attitude across the board at Redskin park. The entire team (minus Fat Albert) seems to have an elevated excitement level about the team .. the competition ... the way Shanahan is running a tight ship, and the addition of McNabb and the leadership he brings to the team.

What does all of this say? If you read between the lines, it says that this team imploded last year under the weight of incompetence of the coaching staff .. their undisciplined way of running the team, and the lack of leadership from the key players ... i.e. QB

There was no trust in the Zorn staff from the players .. and lots of back biting in the locker room ... basically, there was a feeling amongst the players that some had to follow rules, while others didn't. That destroys a team, and explains why we could lose to the likes of the Detroit Lions.

I think this team is going to come out and shock some people this year .. and I do believe this can be a solid 10-6 or 11-5 team.

I like the positive emotions coming out such as Hall, and others have expressed. Often times, changes in regime and rules .. and a move from a lax staff to a more disciplined staff can create negative attitude issues ... but what we are seeing are positive attitudes, and embracing the changes from the team overall, and that should be cause for celebration, and not criticism.

I dont believe in superstition, I believe in execution.

Halls arrogance didn't cause us to win only 4 games.

His arrogance won't cause our record this year.

If we execute, we'll win. Let's execute.

Loooooook, to heck wit what ya'll say.. we will dominate this season.. I have that much faith in our boys. I don't care about last year's 4-12.. I don't care about staff prior to this season, and I don't care about our 3 rings at this point (I do use them rings when people talk trash to me and their teams don't have 3 like us though). I'm sorry, I'm not being realistic this season; I'm VERY tired of being realistic, we've been a horrible team for many many years. New staff, new team, new attitude.. and I've completely bought into it. The whole sneaking McNabb in, the other RBs we picked up, they worked on the OL, they upgraded our Def. and ST. You don't have to point out the negatives, I know them but I don't care at this point. We hit rock bottom and now we're going up. We're going up and up and up and up. I'm not living in the past anymore, I'm lookin for now.. right now. SB will be played in dallas and our boys will be down there (playing against the AFC rep) and the team will perform like Rypien's team in '91 with that crazy overall record. =;

As for what Hall said, it is what it is cause it ain't what it ain't and he must back it up, obviously. Yea I get it, but honestly I'd rather have him do it and not CPs alter egos. Say what you want about him but the guy came in and made an instant impact and he upgraded our DBs. I respect everyone's opinions and logic prevails but don't say he's a bum.. You all named his negatives but Los is worse. Sorry, I think he's the real bum. He's gotten better but Hall is much better.

I'm starting the Skins Bandwagon of Unrealistic Fans, anyone down for a free ride? Man if we stink it up again fine, so be life but all we'll hear is the same dribble anyways so to heck wit it, I have nothing to lose. We'll just name D Hall as the official spokesperson if it happens.

I'm with ya Joe. I detect magic .. and I have a sixth sense about these things.

That video of Brunell to Moss brings back fond memories. As I had been attending Dallas-Redskin games at RFK for years .. and watching those away games at Texas Stadium ... my first and only trip to see an away game was right there on Monday night football ... surrounded by Cowboy fans and getting razzed for wearing my #26 jersey, that game was AMAZING.

Since I moved to Texas years ago ... the Redskins hadn't fared to well against the Cowboys, and some friends of mine who are die hard cowgirl fans always rubbed it in. The biggest die hard was the friend I rode up to dallas with for that game ... and I told him on the way up there (3 1/2 hour drive) that he should keep an eye on Santana Moss .. that I had a strange feeling that Moss was going to become the next cowboy killer. I swear to god, that is exactly what I said, several times on the way.!! We were sitting in that end zone, so I had the best possible seat to watch those to TDs !

Now, the real interesting thing is that between the 70's and 80's, I attended several games at RFK .. can't be certain as to the exact number, but I would guess about 10, including both NFC championship games, and I've only seen the Redskins lose to the cowgirls once in all of those games. (I think Snyder should be transporting me to all games, home and away).

I have this strange feeling that we might actually see another NFC Championship game between the Redskins and Cowboys ... and how GREAT would it be to knock the cowboys out of the Super Bowl that is scheduled to be held in Dallas ??? And then play it there for the Cowboys to watch?

I have a strange feeling .........

Right Ray.. Im thinking you need to take that long drive to dallas stadium EVERYTIME we play there!

I have a friend who's from Jacksonville and he loooooves Brunell; he called me when the first TD happened and asked me "think we can pull it out?".. I was on the phone with him when the second one happened and I later found out he had dropped the phone and was screaming, as did I... we kinda forgot about each other on the phone and he called me after the game. He was like, 'my bad'.. I said dude, you can hang up on me anytime with results like dat! Brunell, for that game alone will always be a Redskin to me.

By the way folks, did ya'll notice on that home game #23 in action?? :-k maybe a prelude of a present #23 in action for our first game???.. see how I methodically used that highlight for my D. Hall point? .. Dag, I'm a genious.. sike naw, just playing
