Yea the way it stands right now, Stephon Heyer would have to start. As bad as that is, imagine if he gets hurt! Or any lineman gets hurt. It will be like last year all over again. McNabb will die.

This is the most optimistic I've seen Ray in a while, I like the change . In my opinion I see us hovering around 9-7. Cautiously optimistic. I, like most, believe this team hinges on how well our O-line and defense perform.

As for the acquisition of McNabb. It's a gamble, if Campbell is traded. Not a cause for general rejoicing. The Eagles know him very well. We are gambling that we know him better, which is not all that likely. I personally believe he's only an above-average player now, not a super-star. If we don't fix the OL, he won't help much. Nor will having Shany on the sidelines and Allen as GM help much either.

Living in Philly the last 9 years I have to say that I would not put any stock in the idea that the Eagles know something about McNabb that everyone else does not. They have their plans which are to stay young and cheap. They would rather be right about their plan than do right by important players (Dawkins, Westbrook, McNabb, Vincent, etc.). I honestly think that if Reid had built the offense around McNabb's skills rather than his plan McNabb would have won a Super Bowl.

I agree. The Eagles have never been the franchise to spend big. Mcnabbs current deal was probably the largest in there history.

When the price of there players go up and there contract is set to expire. They typically let those players test free agency. Mcnabb was an exception the first time around. Obviously the second time around he was traded.

Trust me .... I've been more right than wrong about these here Redskins over the past few years! Just as my lack of optimism for which you refer to was well founded, you might care to consider the optimism anchored in realism, rather than unfounded faith.

I see what is shaping up to be a "sleeper" group that might come out of the blocks and shock everyone. I think we have far more talent on offense than most would give credit, simply because we didn't have that confident leader, making plays and showing some of the youngsters how to make plays too. Thomas, Kelley, Mitchell, Davis, Moss, ey ... McNabb has never had such a group.

I see both a HC & GM that are confident that they have a core group that they can win with NOW, and McNabb was the one missing element that was an unexpected surprise, and the key to this being a quick turn around versus a more lengthy one.

Don't be surprised if there aren't a couple more "surprises" in the very near future to shore up the o-line, and maybe even grab a young QB to groom too.

Remember, there is a Pro Bowl LT out there ... older, but would fill a hole and signing Adams would not impact the future at all. We have a high 1st rounder, and we have trade bait that might get us another valuable pick in this year's draft too.

The Redskins are miles above where they were already, and the boys in the FO aren't done yet. There is every reason to be optimistic, and no reason at all to be cautious about it
