From what we've heard and read about Shanahan he's spent the last year looking at everything that he thinks will help him be successful at what he does - I think he will use everyone and anyone that he has available here that in his estimation can contribute
my point about some coaches being conservative and not trusting new or younger players was only to accentuate the difference between some NFL coaches - I think that anyone and everyone that is here will start with a relatively clean slate and get to show if they can help or not
this franchise needs all the help it can get from both coaches and players to get some of their respectability back - Shanahan and Allen have a clue about what to do and how to both make a plan for success and put it into action - IMHO

Why? Surely you jest. That the incredible combination of size, speed, grace, strength, intelligence, heart and charisma Colt possesses makes him a truly special quarterback indeed. He's going to bring attention to the new staff, the Skins as a franchise and indeed the entire NFL as Danica Patrick has done for auto racing. You can't bring a once in a generation talent like Colt into the NFL without a plan!

I'm pretty sure the Redskins have a plan for him. It's called cutting him...

Not clear that Brennan has shown enough to make the team keep him.
In 1959, Washingtonians screamed for Ralph Guglielmi to replace Eddie Lebaron. Ouch!!!!
Later, people called for Dick Shiner, a star at Maryland U, to replace Sonny. I saw a game when either Sonny was hurt or Otto Graham was mad at Number 9...started Shiner, and then everyone understood that Sonny had such a quick release that he barely needed an OL.
Somehow, the guy who's not playing always looks better than the starter.

Breenan had alot of success in College, he deserves a fair shot
under Shanahan.
Could Cambell possibly be good in this offense hmm
We got a good draft to look forward to and alot of needs on the oline. Teeter are you talkin that Breenan could close the talk on drafting a QB in the first... we could trade and get a load of o-lineman in this years draft.

And to that end it's highly doubtful he will receive otherwise. They will no doubt study and evaluate everyone on the roster before deciding the changes to make. Note the silence we're hearing in moves right now. So I agree, but this is sort of like saying a bus driver should release the parking break before driving the bus. True, but so blatantly basic, why bother discussing it?

I think it's called desparation. Campbell has shown that he is not the answer. Collins is 65 years old.

I seriously doubt anyone changed sides because of "desperation." Those who pine for third string quarterbacks will do so and those who actually grasp reality and the game of football won't no matter how bad our top QB's are. We're all looking for a solution, the question is where not why.

I see no reason to properly evaluate Brennan and if they see potential, give him a fair shake.
For a team desperate for depth and draft picks, why should we just expel players at a whim.
The folks here who say Brennan is a nobody are just as accurate as those who say he's potentially awesome. Neither side knows for sure, neither side is right.
My opinion? Hang on to whomever shows something, give them a fair shake to prove themselves and make a decision. To this point Brennan hasn't been given a fair shot and Zorn was HORRIBLE at player evaluation, his decisions aren't reliable.

Well, you're right neither of us knows for sure, but no, we're not equally right. The odds against a sixth round pick are high and Colt got SLAMMED by the organization by being put on IR in the preseason of his second year prohibiting him from practicing with the team or being on the sidelines with the staff during games. And who did we do that for? No one. We kept no third string QB. Dude, that was a major statement front he coaches.
To say people who see that and recognize his days are seriously numbered with us and equate that with people who just don't get what happened is just....plain....silly. Sure the new regime will take a serious look at him and it's not "hopeless." Maybe they see something the priors didn't, maybe he had a heck of a season playing with himself, maybe he's a better fit for what they are looking for. But that those denying the EVIDENCE are as right as those who aren't again is just wrong.

Based on what has he not been given a "fair shot?"

-The same way, Davis wasn't given a fair shot.
-The same way Thomas wasn't given a fair shot.
-The same way Kelly was under utilized in the redzone.
It took a frickin BINGO player to come in and see that we HAD TALENTED YOUNG PLAYERS. That entire offensive draft class was being held back by Zorn.
I understand Davis was behind

ey but why couldn't they implement a 2 TE offense more often? Shawn Springs marveled at him and what he did in practice.
Thomas showed tremendous spark at the end of 2008 yet it took midway thru 2009 and the BINGO man to get him on the field consistenly.
Why wasn't Thomas given a shot at PR with the explosiveness and tenancity he showed? He did great on KR until he was yanked due to his offensive neccesity.
ZORN was a MORON when it came to those guys. And to an extent he MAY have been a moron with Brennan. I'm simply saying, give the kid a chance. And I'm glad that Shanny said that he will. He's going to give anyone who wants a shot, a shot. I'm content with that.

Yes, it is the same as those, completely unclear that you're correct. You seriously see these with the obviousness of a dead moose on the table like you make it sound?
Those three are all 2nd round players who all got on the field in their second year and had mixed results. Kelly and Thomas have had lots of chances and they keep showing us enough to get them on the field but not enough to stay there all the time. If anything, their inconsistent production is somewhat disappointing given the lack of competition they face to be there.
Davis played behind

ey and progressed as the season went on, but he made "rookie" mistakes as well like scoring a great TD and then taking a moronic celebration penalty which ended up giving it right back. He's in fact the only of the four that looks like legit starter material right now. As for the "red zone," that's the hardest part of the field and he's getting there. That a second round second year draft pick is becoming a red zone threat is a statement of success, not failure.
As for Brennan, he earns playing time in practice. He's a sixth round pick, comparing him to seconds is dubious to begin with. To say he hasn't received a "fair" shot isn't supported by anything you said. He did well playing against scrubs as a rookie. He sucked in his second pre-season and Zorn, who's strongest area is quarterbacks put him on IR and kept no third stringer, which is essentially cutting him. Read the Washington Post today, they had a commentary saying what I (as well as some others) have been saying about Brennon all year. Being put on IR was a huge negative statement and it was virtually cutting him.

Looks to me like Zorn (who, despite the disaster his run as HC, still has an excellent rep as a developer of quarterbacks), felt he had plenty of opportunities...
From "Redskins Insider":
Former coach Jim Zorn wanted to cut Brennan before the 2009 season, people familiar with the situation said. <snip> Zorn expected Brennan to challenge Todd Collins for the backup job in the 2009 preseason, and that didn't happen because Brennan struggled. Also, some in the organization grew frustrated with Brennan because of what they perceived to be his cockiness despite never having accomplished anything in the NFL, team sources said.
While I think he will still get his "look at" by the Shanahans, this doesn't sound good for Brennan, at all. As noted, Zorn's reputation as a quarterback coach is still intact... his impressions have to carry some weight.

What kind of plan do you really need for a PRACTICE SQUAD QB???
News flash - Brennan (and all the other P.Squad players in the NFL) have to prove to their coaches they can make the team and contribute at the NFL level before anyone is going to have a "PLAN" for them.

Interesting... did the '09 preseason not exist? I seem to recall that he looked pretty ordinary. Word is, Zorn intended to cut him, had he not been injured.

I'm still wondering why he regressed in pre-seasons. '08 he looked good in his 3rd string offense. '09 he looked way worse. Why? Could it possibly be that zorn isn't the QB God people made him out to be? Yes, he worked with JC and there were improvements, but was he THAT DAMN GOOD? He surely wasn't that good as a HC and playcaller. Maybe he can't coach everybody.
