Allen's draft record may not be great but then again Al Davis, and Malchom Glazer are the owners of the respective teams he worked for. We know Davis has been known to meddle and I've heard Glazer has tight purse strings.
If Snyder lets Allen do his job and stays out of the way I see no reason why he couldn't be a winner.
I'm so happy Vinnie is gone, what a great day!!

Oh man, I totally misread that. I was out lighting cars on fire and flipping trash cans.

Don't let this happen to you...

Bobby feels this was a great choice.
He feels that they needed to get ready for the Draft.
Gruden? He does not know.
Sonny agrees with Bobby that this is a good move.

I can only go back to '05 on espn but here's who they drafted with better names:
2005
1st - Cadillac Williams
2nd - Barrett Ruud
3rd - TE - Alex Smith
2006
1st - Davin Joseph
2nd - Jeremy Trueblood
3rd - Maurice Stovall
6th - Bruce Gradkowski
2007
1st - Gaines Adams - no longer w/ team
2nd - Aaron Sears
2nd - Sabby Piscitelli
4th - Tanard Jackson
2008
1st - Aqib Talib
3rd - Jeramy Zuttah OG
4th - Dre Moore
5th - Josh Johnson QB
6th - Geno Hayes
No real probowlers but there is a lot of quality players there. Caddy probably would have been the best but the knee injury hurt him a lot. Barret Ruud is a damn good LB'R too. And two or three lineman are still starting for them now.

Something to consider too is the scouting department. Also, you need to make sure that an owner or GM listens to their scouts like Gibbs and Bethard used to do.

Yeah, Allen is Executive VP and GM but he can't do this himself. He absolutely needs to build a great personnel department. Now, Mike Shannahan would be great (since he's a great offensive mind and personnel man.)
He and Allen have worked together, as have Allen and Gruden... I guess the speculation starts now on the next HC

I remain convinced to this day, that, had Sonny not been sitting on the sidelines recovering from a season ending injury, George Allen, Larry Brown, Charley Taylor, Jerry Smith, Lenny Hauss, Pat Fischer, Mike Bass, Chris Hanburger, Charlie Harraway, Roy Jefferson, Ron McDole (the Dancing Bear), Diron Talbert (the original Cowboys hater), Jack Pardee, Brig Owens, Mike Bragg, Rusty Tillman, and Richie Pettibon, et al, would have had their SuperBowl Rings, and Miami would have simply been that team that almost had a perfect season.
As much as I loved "ol' Furnace Face", he just couldn't figure out that defense. Sonny would have shredded it.

Brian Mitchell happy about the hiring ...
Brian is stealing ALL my arguments written in this board against Vinny over the last couple of years.
J/K
Brian Mitchell is ENJOYING this day -almost- as much as I am.
He says "we are getting our team back". True Brian!

I heard on the Mike Wise show that Shannahan will not work with Allen.

In football/GM/headcoach terms, what you did was pretty fantastic. Its highly unlikely that with the personnel you had on hand (yourself), that you would be able to deadlift the 3000+- lbs of car necessary to flip it. You took a look at your personnel and said, we would be much more successful if we switched things up and flipped trashcans and lit cars on fire. Ultimately you still had a highly successful celebration, although it was not done in the more commonly accepted method.
I only hope that whoever Bruce chooses as our new coach is cpaable of making such brilliant decisions on the fly.

They are asking Brian if Danny will really step back.
Brian says that he would not understand Bruce Allen accepting without prior negotiation and acceptance of this condition: Full control for Bruce, he thinks.
Brian feels Gruden is our next HC

He also said that he can't stand Vinny basically b/c Vinny was the one who put all the blame on BMitch for him leaving. But BMitch told Vinny things that he didn't want to hear so like with Marty, he was gone.

I'm sure Brian is right... Allen has worked for the king of all medlers... and for a complete tightwad... I can't imagine that it would be anything less than 99%... with the owner (whom has a history of being willing to spend) retaining pocketbook veto.
Looking forward to further developments...

I'm just so glad it happened now because with a uncapped year looming I didn't want to see DS and Vinny on the loose!!

And I'm really glad they made this move more than 3 weeks away from the draft. This GM has a great chance to take a hard look at the team and do his evaluations!

Yeah. He can really get down to scouting players while the bowl games are still going on and the scouting combine.

Listening to a writer from TB on the Mike Wish show that were moves made:
- Keenan McCardell to SD when he held out for a contract.
- Got Joey Galloway for Keyshawn Johnson and draft picks.
Also. Came in after the SB run and their salary cap was a mess. Said that he had to make major moves to field a team that year and work the cap.
All the QB's that were brought in were all Gruden guys. Not Allen.

You missed an important speculation... Was this a condition placed by Gruden to come here?
Bruce Allen has never held a position without Gruden side-by-side ...

Yeah. Those are good. It's little pot shots at Vinny like he used to throw around all the time to the fans.
