I was just thinking about that game in the last 10 minutes. I'm listening to ESPN 980 and they are talking about games you would love to see again on replay. I was devastated that day. My Dad was in town from Charlotte and we were going to lunch (3 hour time difference). When they were lining up to kick, I said, "Ok lets go. I don't want to watch these punks celebrate their win." My Dad said something like, "It ain't over till it's over. You never know what could happen." Damn, was I happy we didn't leave b/c I would have been pissed to have missed that play.

OK. Let the kid from FSU do all the kicking: punting, PK, KO. Add a another player the game roster.
It's not "unheard of". Remember Lou Groza who kicked FG and XPs when he wasn't playing OT.
The Redskins had a fairly good all-around kicker named Sam Baker. Unless you are as old as me, and I won't mention who is close, Baker not only punted and kickd FGs, PATs, and KOs, but he also was apretty good fullback in college.
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Baker_%28halfback%29
Then look for pictures.

sushi has been on the hot seat since the FG miss of the dallas game befor ethe half, he had a chance to redeem with the 50 yarder, but he missed that too. This chip shot miss is the last nail in the coffin. Our O played prevent Offense...

I am not defending Suisham but ...
... Are there no other people who are FAR more responsible for a greater number of losses than Suisham is???
Let me put the question differently:
Is Suisham record, be that as it might be taken as a whole, not better than the record of A LOT of people above him?
I am talking other players, coaches, management, owner ...
Is it not too easy to pick a scapegoat? I think it is. Suisham brought it up to himself, alright. But there is A LOT of people who deserve to be booted out higher up sooner than Suisham did.
Of course. I just dont see Vinny firing himself.

In his first public comments since Shaun Suisham was released this week, Vinny Cerrato explained Friday morning that keeping the kicker on the team wouldn't have been fair to his teammates after Suisham missed the short fourth-quarter field goal against the Saints.
"To me, the players fought their butts off the whole game," Cerrato said on his ESPN 980 radio show. "I mean, we're up 10, then the Saints come back, then we score again. I mean, offensively, they couldn't stop us. We had 460 yards or whatever. And we'll talk about all the guys that stepped up and did well, and I thought Sherm Lewis called an outstanding game. I mean, we punted I think one time.
"But we took it down all the way to the two-minute warning, down to the 3-yard line or whatever, ran the ball to set up to kick the field goal. [If you make the field goal], you're up 10 with probably 1:50 to go after the kickoff, so if they take it down to score, they've still got to recover the onside kick and then score again. So my feeling was, after he misses the kick, it wasn't fair to the rest of the team to keep him on the team. Because this was a reoccurring thing. The Dallas game, he missed a 39-yarder. And I remember in the playoff game in Seattle he missed a short field goal. So there's some critical field goals that he missed.
"And then my question to the coaches and everything, is he the kicker for next year? No, probably not. So all right, let's let him go and let's try some guys and see if we find a guy who's gonna be consistent and make the kicks that he's supposed to make. That's all. You can understand if it was a 50-yarder, but a 23-yarder? Make the ones you're supposed to make. It's a PAT, game's over, everybody's excited and we've got a big win, and it would have been the Saints' first loss. So it's an inexcusable miss, in my opinion, and it just was a thing that had to happen."
So does this apply to everyone???

For Cerrato to comment on Suisham is classless, but the comments make Cerrato sound about as football-smart as a typical sports-talk radio voice.

you're right welch - it's like the old saying "you think a person doesn't know much about something, then they open their mouth and remove all doubt"
there's never been any doubt about Cerrato = classless and clueless - that's our personnel guy
and it looks like we will get to see more of him next year as well - I mean this group just missed beating the best team in the NFC

Haha obviosly not. If it did Landry would have been cut with SS. He deserved to get cut, though. You can't miss fg's like that and it sends a message to the rest of the team.

Agreed. There was a much better way to go about this. It's Vinny, though, so no surprise. His lack of professionalism continues to surprise me, even after all of the dumb stuff that he has already pulled.

you might want to find another team - this guy can kick - please tell me a guy from the U that might be better
I just love it when we find players that some here don't want to succeed just because they went to a school that they don't like

Wow, how did this guy not make an NFL roster? I hope we don't discover a reason why in the next few weeks.
It was only one week, but that was great.

I know, I was hoping they had an idea this guy was good and that's why we cut Suisham. I'm thinking more likely we were lucky, but I can hope it was planned.

Goes to show....that in the NFL, if you have skill set (kicking FGs)
You will get picked up, sooner or later.

He's a spy!!! Remember the missed field goals in Dallas??? I believe now, after his signing, that he was paid off to shank those gimmes.
In all seriousness, Dallas is trying to make the playoffs, and any intel that can give them an edge is extremly valuable @ this time of the year.
...wish WE could be in that spot.

Not from a kicker. Seriously. How much do you actually think the kicker knows of the game plans, play calls, structure, formations, pass routes, blocking schemes.
"Kick ball...
Get check..."
THAT is what the kicker knows.

I agree, Suisham costing us another game would be appropriate.
