I heard a lot of praise for Philly this offseason with respect to their offensive line. The signing of Jason Peters in particular has been viewed as one of the best moves in the NFL this spring.

What is it that makes your diagnosis so different? Just that Shawn and Stacey Andrews are hurt and/or depressed?

The rest of your list, btw, has me pumped to follow the Eagles this year. I have to admit that one of my guilty pleasures is in seeing them fail. Although I dislike the Cowboys and even the Giants more than the Eagles, for whatever reason seeing Reid and McNabb fall on their faces brings me far more happiness than when NYG or Dallas falters.

They had a lot of praise for signing Peters. But the Eagles have put together an O line that has never played together. Instead of getting a left tackle to protect McNabb they cut Runyan and moved Sean Andrews to LT despite the fact he has back injuries and depression which kept him out of most of last season. The line is all new with everyone playing new positions and they are all banged up. The national media is in love with the Eagles but the local media here is very worried about the line as well. I gotta tell you, most Eagle fans seems to recognize the expectations are too high this year as well.

Nah, it's hard for me to hate the Smeagols too bad. They've never won anything, and the Philly fan friends I have are much more tolerable than the NY or Dallas variety. I'm talking on a personal level here, not about the stadium crowd of course. :P
I hate the Cowboys and Giants but can respect their organizations for what they've done. Their fans are insuffrable and disgusting human beings. However, there is nothing to respect about the Eagles and believe me if you lived here you would hate their fans more than the Cowboys and Giants. They are like the worst of both - Cowboy fans are mostly a bunch of uneducated rednecks and Giant fans think they are super cool tough guys from New York. Eagle fans are stupid hicks who think they are tough guys - their woman are skanks and their children should be put in foster care.

...and didn't Peters give up the most sacks in the league last year? Man... I gotta think Orakpo, Jarmon, Daniels and AH are going to have a field day against Peters. Haven't we been practicing a few d-line formations with AH playing at DE?

PS The G-strings play in NJ. Nuff said.

Wait, I thought Peters was signed to play LT, and Sean Andrews was going to play RT (where he played with the Bengals?)

Also, I can respect the Eagles' franchise, because they have fielded good teams pretty much every year this decade, and have smartly acquired good players.

However, I totally despise the fans, and I revel in their misery every time the Eagles fail. The fans are so freaking entitled; they believe that the Eagles should win the Superbowl every year.

My wife's family is from the Philly area, so her 3 brother-in-laws are huge Eagles fans. It's surprisingly, actually, that they're Eagles fans, as they all speak in complete sentences and their knuckles do not drag on the ground.

Moose Johnson just said on the broadcast of the Eagle v Colts game that the Eagles have the best receiving corp in the league????????

more inane blather

Now Moose Johnson says that Dallas will host the 2011 Super Bowl and Indianapolis will host 2012. He the went on to say you couldn't ask for two better stadiums and locations. Ok, the stadiums might be nice but how can any sane person think Dallas and Indianapolis are cities anyone would won't to spend time in?????

If it weren't for the TTiT, I wouldn't mind living in TX. I love wearing shorts all year, but that color scheme is all wrong.

The Eagles ran the ball 17 times last night for a grand total of 23 yards.

I know they were without 4/5's of their starting o-line due to injury... but geez, that's pathetic. I saw Macklin drop a few balls and fumble, and Ellis Hobbs got absolutely abused last night. My personal feelings are that I don't believe their defense, and specifically their secondary, is going to be as good this year.

Can I offer to cover some of the cost to your counseling? How can anyone want to live in Texas

How about I say I went to counseling and you send me a check? :P

I would rather be hot than cold. We didn't the humidity in central TX that we do here. And I've worn shorts during the week of Christmas, which is awesome!!

I would love to live in Texas...

No income tax.

Decent weather.

Cowboy fans incessantly irritated by the burgundy and gold acoutrements on my house and yard.

What's not to like?

What not to like? It's Texas - Waco, the Bush familiy, Jerry Jones, the Cowboys, the freakin Houston Astros for crying out loud. Live in Florida if you want tax benefits and warm weather. Oh man, what a Hell that would be to have to live in Texas.

That would make it difficult for me too, cleg. The memory of the Federal government murdering it's own citizens. It really was the fault of the criminal Clinton/Reno gang in DC that's to blame for that one though, not Texas. Though possibly violating the 3rd Amendment was impressive, did they pay rent for the agents in the siege? I can't think of another time that one might have been violated since the Civil War.

I wouldn't want to live there though either. It's flat, hot and brown. And man, when you're around Houston in the summer you can swim to work.

Amazing that you can draw conclusions from a "pre-season" game of a team in our division but when the Skins lay a 0 burger you're full of "spin" as to why pre-season games mean nothing :hmm:

I can't speak for anyone else but (not that you care) It makes it difficult for me to take anything you say about the Skins seriously.

 Come on, man... I didn't draw any conclusions... and preseason games don't mean much. I watched the game, I'm not allowed to comment on it? I said I don't believe their defense will be as good, and it's based in part on the loss of Johnson, Dawkins and Bradley. That's my belief, but it's not a conclusion. There's a big difference. I didn't say they were doomed, I just said they weren't impressive last night. I've also acknowledged the Skins weren't impressive last week either. But it's preseason, and unlike a few around here, I don't get all bent over one game. Sorry if you do.

What's curious though, is that one of my best friends is a huge Eagles fan and he agrees about last nights game. If you want to talk about something "amazing," how about a Skins fan that gives so much love to the Eagles while constantly bashing the team he claims to love.

I can't speak for anyone else but (not that you care) It makes it difficult for me to take anything you say about the Skins seriously.

Really? LOL... Sorry I show more love for the Skins and less for the enemy. ROTFALMAO

All I can say then is to just ignore it... because obviously your posts prove to be so much more insightful.

You guys also forgot to mention the incredibly low cost of living, compared to this area.

I lived in Dallas for a year or so, during my first year of college (I transferred back home because I missed my girlfriend... ). Anyways, it was different down there, but it was a pretty decent place to live.

Plus you had ready access to amazing barbeque...

Yeah, that's the big one. My sister-in-law lives in Dallas, and when she told us her rent for a very nice apartment, it made me want to cry. :)

I guess when you live in Maine, a lot of other states probably look pretty good - especially during the 10 cold months of the year

True... Living here does give one a certain perspective on climate. Brrrr.
Except... that I didn't always live in Maine... I preferred Texas all along, but the Navy thought I needed to be in Maine.

When I first went to Maine the trip took me to Southwest Harbor _ I called my wife and said "thank God we didn't ever look for a house up here" - it was summer and the coastline is magnificent but I would have hated the cold.

Apart from the puke fans I'm not sure I'd ever like the weather or the people in TX

Uh...considering I don't eat beef barbecue, and I had plenty of great pork barbecue in Dallas...you may be wrong.

Oh yeah, you are.

East Texas barbecue is an extension of traditional southern barbecue, similar to that found in Tennessee and Arkansas. It is primarily pork-based, with cuts such as pork shoulder and pork ribs, indirectly slow smoked over primarily hickory wood. The sauce is tomato-based, sweet, and thick. This is also the most common urban barbecue in Texas, spread by African-Americans when they settled in big cities like Houston and Dallas.
