I heard a lot of praise for Philly this offseason with respect to their offensive line. The signing of Jason Peters in particular has been viewed as one of the best moves in the NFL this spring.

What is it that makes your diagnosis so different? Just that Shawn and Stacey Andrews are hurt and/or depressed?

The rest of your list, btw, has me pumped to follow the Eagles this year. I have to admit that one of my guilty pleasures is in seeing them fail. Although I dislike the Cowboys and even the Giants more than the Eagles, for whatever reason seeing Reid and McNabb fall on their faces brings me far more happiness than when NYG or Dallas falters.

They had a lot of praise for signing Peters. But the Eagles have put together an O line that has never played together. Instead of getting a left tackle to protect McNabb they cut Runyan and moved Sean Andrews to LT despite the fact he has back injuries and depression which kept him out of most of last season. The line is all new with everyone playing new positions and they are all banged up. The national media is in love with the Eagles but the local media here is very worried about the line as well. I gotta tell you, most Eagle fans seems to recognize the expectations are too high this year as well.

Also, I can respect the Eagles' franchise, because they have fielded good teams pretty much every year this decade, and have smartly acquired good players.

However, I totally despise the fans, and I revel in their misery every time the Eagles fail. The fans are so freaking entitled; they believe that the Eagles should win the Superbowl every year.

My wife's family is from the Philly area, so her 3 brother-in-laws are huge Eagles fans. It's surprisingly, actually, that they're Eagles fans, as they all speak in complete sentences and their knuckles do not drag on the ground.

Now Moose Johnson says that Dallas will host the 2011 Super Bowl and Indianapolis will host 2012. He the went on to say you couldn't ask for two better stadiums and locations. I know they were without 4/5's of their starting o-line due to injury... but geez, that's pathetic. I saw Macklin drop a few balls and fumble, and Ellis Hobbs got absolutely abused last night. My personal feelings are that I don't believe their defense, and specifically their secondary, is going to be as good this year.

What not to like? It's Texas - Waco, the Bush familiy, Jerry Jones, the Cowboys, the freakin Houston Astros for crying out loud. Live in Florida if you want tax benefits and warm weather. Oh man, what a Hell that would be to have to live in Texas.

That would make it difficult for me too, cleg. The memory of the Federal government murdering it's own citizens. It really was the fault of the criminal Clinton/Reno gang in DC that's to blame for that one though, not Texas. Though possibly violating the 3rd Amendment was impressive, did they pay rent for the agents in the siege? I can't think of another time that one might have been violated since the Civil War.

Come on, man... I didn't draw any conclusions... and preseason games don't mean much. I watched the game, I'm not allowed to comment on it? I said I don't believe their defense will be as good, and it's based in part on the loss of Johnson, Dawkins and Bradley. That's my belief, but it's not a conclusion. There's a big difference. I didn't say they were doomed, I just said they weren't impressive last night. I've also acknowledged the Skins weren't impressive last week either. But it's preseason, and unlike a few around here, I don't get all bent over one game. Sorry if you do.

What's curious though, is that one of my best friends is a huge Eagles fan and he agrees about last nights game. If you want to talk about something "amazing," how about a Skins fan that gives so much love to the Eagles while constantly bashing the team he claims to love.

I lived in Dallas for a year or so, during my first year of college (I transferred back home because I missed my girlfriend... ). Anyways, it was different down there, but it was a pretty decent place to live.

Plus you had ready access to amazing barbeque...

When I first went to Maine the trip took me to Southwest Harbor _ I called my wife and said "thank God we didn't ever look for a house up here" - it was summer and the coastline is magnificent but I would have hated the cold.
