Note his contract also expires this year. No cap hit if they decide to retain Hall next yr.

Yes there will be. If we retain him, his salary and any bonus money will count against the cap. But you probably meant if we don't retain him, correct?

Must not be that bad. He had 4 or 5 teams after him and he landed in NO. Put it this way, the Jets wanted him and when they couldn't get him, they picked up Ty Law. Now I'm not saying that he is better than Law but I think that he has a better future.

Good luck Torrance. I wish you all the best.

Well, there goes another screamer on ST's. Hope Kelley pans out, man. Otherwise, we wasted a serviceable depth player.

die cowboys die wrote:kelly isn't even a slight possibility. even if he ends up going on IR, don't think of him as "Malcolm Kelly" right now, think of him as "WR 5 PlaceHolder". there is NO WAY we can try to finish the season (and hopefully the playoffs) with only 4 WRs on the roster, especially when one of them is James Thrash (whom i have loved since his first stint with the 'skins, but BOY is he useless at this point). that is effectively 3 WRs. Thrash should be considered nothing more than a body that can be placed at the WR position in the event of emergency to avoid illegal formation penalties.

even if kelly does go on IR right away to "make room for hall", i would have to assume we also go out and sign a WR (whatever happened to Anthony Mix? guy was a special teams monster last year, heard great things about him in the offseason, then gets banged up during preseason and vanishes) and make room for him. so in my mind, whoever got cut at THAT point would REALLY be the one making room for Hall. if that makes ANY sense, haha. it's just the timing of it "we got a WR who needs to go on IR right now, we got a new CB we need a spot for right now, let's make that happen and then we have a few days to find our replacement WR and decide who to let go to make room".

I agree with you (almost) about the WR situation but would argue that Thomas is as worthless as Thrash and Kelly and that Mix is not going to catch passes. We have a horrible problem at WR and RB and should not have cut Mason (who is better than Alexander) and that guy who was catching all the passes in pre-season (McDaniel?).

We should make a move for a WR now-- before Portis is pulp. We should also do something at KR.

This rings true with Preileuo sp? Leigh was a liability in the backfield, I honestly would rather have Doughty back there than him.

Geez, where was the love for Torrence before now?

Zorn said Kelly will give it a go this week in practice, so apparently they had to make another move. I certainly wish Torrence the best, but come on, it's not like his contributions were that significant. Hall for Torrence is a no-brainer.

Yeah stop it. I can't wait for the inevitable HALL IS A BUST CUT HIM NOW posts that will come out whenever he gives up a catch, though.

Agreed. Leigh will be the second coming of Darrell Green here, soon. But, I still think we made a mistake by cutting him.

I would have liked to keep him but I won't lose sleep over it. I think Kelly should have been put on IR.

Right CLL, I personally think your only as good as the last big play you gave up.. therefore Torrance is a bum cause he cost us the WHOLE game vs. Rams...

Sad part is IF we beat the Giants AND wind up with the same record as them, that stupid Rams game is the tie-breaker so far.

That loss doesnt fall on Torrence however.

They need another loss in the division (besides losing to us) or any two games, for us to control our own destiny.

In other words... they control our destiny, unless they don't?

No, THN controls our destiny. Have you learned nothing from the past week?

I really find this interesting. He calls out Hall coz he knows if Springs or 'Los is on him he won't be able to do diddly squat.

From ESPN:

It'd be an opportune time for Owens to have a breakout performance, especially if he's matched up against cornerback DeAngelo Hall. Remember, Owens was fined $35,000 by the league in December 2006 for spitting in Hall's face during a game against his former team, the Atlanta Falcons. The two reportedly settled their feud later with Deion Sanders serving as a mediator.

"At the rate he's playing, I'm looking forward to a big day," Owens said, smiling. "I'm no stranger to playing against him. I've had success against him just as much as everybody else has, so if he's out there, I'm looking forward to playing him."

I guess that's what CLL was referring to.
