Zorn, in fact, told Doc Walker at the half that he was planning to keep the ball on the ground in the 2nd half (without saying anything about JC or an injury). He said that, with the defense playing lights-out, he didn't feel a need to score a lot of points.
Unfortunately, even a lights-out defense needs to rest once in a while... and that means you need to get first downs at the end of the game.
