I had not watched football for a long time. I starting watching again when Gibbs came back.
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

The play calls were decent, the calls where there and we were attacking. The players simply didn't execute.

I agree, for the most part the play calling was fine yesterday. It would be nice to be able to run the ball more, but Cooley himself said that with the oline problems we cant run to the right so expecting a prolific running game this season is probably wishful thinking. The only call I had a problem with was the short pass to Betts on 4th and 2. Yes McCardell may have been open (although he looked covered and to me it looked like his defender broke off of him once Betts caught the pass) but why call a play where the first option on the route is going to be catching the line before the first down marker?? The offensive coordinator cant do anything if the receivers are unable to catch passes and the oline cant block anybody. I'm not really sure what kind of plays an offensive coordinator can call when he has an offensive line of Samuels, Kendall, Pucillo, Fabini, and Heyer/an injured Wade to work with.

I agree Chris - as far as the players are concerned - we had a number of players that did not perform as well as they could on the field, especially on offense - but wouldn't you agree that Gibbs is not actually calling the plays because it seemed to me, in watching Gibbs, between plays on offense that he was not actually calling any plays in - don't get me wrong here, I think he is involved during the week with the game planning but I think the offense for the most part is called by others because Gibbs was not talking when the plays were being actually called in to Campbell :?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I too was surprised with the call on 4th and 2.. All I could muster was a eeking "wow"... If this keeps up, we need to direct snap it to whoever is gonna run the ball coz that's about as much time as the line can hold the rush... I hope Jason Campbell survives this season... I don't think Todd Collins can run for his life as good as JC, and MB.. Oh, I don't even want to imagine that scenario...

The O-line was a sieve yesterday. No amount of playcalling overcomes that in the NFL. (see: Detroit)

That TO would have only saved us ~9 secs in the long run, it wasn't that crucial. It WAS, however, in line with bad clock management trend that JG has been notorious for as of late. Keep in mind the 20 secs that got burned off of the clock for penalties was exponentially more important than those 9 secs.

I fear that I am coming to the realization that the turnaround of the Redskins will not happen with Joe Gibbs as coach. I feel like a traitor for even feeling this way but who here thinks that the Redskins will learn from the mistakes of the Packers and Giant games? Four years of the same mistakes is enough of a sample to draw the conclusion that Joe Gibbs is not the right man for the job anymore, God bless his swinging soul.

Cleg, I hear you and it's got me wondering too. Gibbs 2.0 just looks like a shell of his former self that often times looks lost. The "ultra"-conservative approach to the offense does not work when you don't have "The Hogs" upfront to give Portis and Betts holes the size of and S-Class Benzs to run through regularly. It's like he is unsure of his staff, himself, and his players.

I watched the Giants last night and saw replay after replay of other teams going deep and completing them for touchdowns and I for the life of me can't figure out why we can do the same. Vinnie "Rip Van Winkle" Testaverde went deep to Smith on Sunday after sitting on the couch for the past 5 weeks. Why can't we with our WRs (Moss, ARE, Lloyd, and even Thrash)?

The inability to run right is just an excuse because of injury, IMO. Have they tried running right with Yoder and Sellers as extra blockers? I haven't seen it. They act as if the guys replacing Thomas and Jansen are chopped liver and in-capable of doing the job. These guys are professional's too and apparently good enough to make the roster as backups, so use them.

This team has had years with Gibbs and GW and one year under Al. They should not be looking like this right now. This team should be mentioned with Indy and New England right now, IMO. We have just as much, if not more talent then those two teams but yet we still look like we are inept at times. This is the year that Gibbs has to move this team forward because we don't have time to wait for the perfection conditions to do our thing. We got injuries, so what. Green Bay is 5-1 without a running game. We have some similance of a running game and mega talent across the board but yet we still do what we do. Don't get me wrong, I am happy that we are 3-2 but those loses were really inexcusable, to be honest.

The only way, IMO, that we can be successful this year is that we open things up and play the game with aggression and reckless abandon. When we are up in the second half, go for the jugular. We should stop overthinking offensive schemes and formations and just play the damn game. We got speed outside at WR, use it. We got strength with two backs, run it. We missing key guys on the right side, add a TE and Sellers to that side when running right for extra blocking. JC has a strong arm, let him chuck it. At least at the end of the season, we can say we unloaded the clip. I would rather lose taking chances then lose being conservative.....

How many times has a new coach came into a franchise and took over with a young QB at the helm, and had that QB as "his guy" for many years? It just dont happen folks, new coaches want "their guy" running the offense. Im not saying never, just rarely. So , if we want JC , long term, we need Gibbs for a while longer until Campbell is more comfortable and established. Yes, I know Dungy inherited Manning,( what a gift ) and so far Phillips has Romo (season aint over ) but it rarely happens. We need to keep the coaches just fix the damned system, I cant believe that coach Gibbs has gotten stupid in his time away since the hayday, I dont see an ego issue, so I dont believe that it cant be corrected. Were still better than we were under all of the previous coaches in general. Plus, whos available? Cower couldnt work with Dan even if he were willing to coach again.

Plus Danny won't like Cowher because he prefers a "traditional" owner.

I like Cowher cus he'd have the gonads to tell Danny where he could stick his 2cents.

Personally, I would want Cowher or some coach as tough as him to come here just for that reason. I have always said the reason why the Redskins are so horrible year after year is because Snyder always interferes with the team and how it is run. There is a reason why Marty had won eight out of his last eleven games in his lone year here;he told Dan to butt out and let him be the coach.
