I strongly agree with this. Our o-line is the key problem on offense, and arguably on the entire team. Without a good o-line you can't run, can't protect the quarterback. With no running game you can't pass, and thus you have no offense. And without an offense, even a good defense is toast by the 4th quarter.
The one thing Beathard did consistenly was give us a great offensive line. He made lots of mistakes on players, but never failed to deliver great offensive lines.
Failing to punch in that last turnover in Seattle arguably cost us that playoff game. And that was the fault of our o-line
We need good o-line players, but first we need a competent front office to recognize the need for them, and then to get them.
<sigh> you're missing it as most people do. You cannot look at last year and judge our starting offensive line since essentially 40% of it was on IR in week 2. If you want to slam O-Line depth, then you MIGHT have some merit, not much, but some. As I've previously mentioned, we were so thin at DEPTH that we had a guy in there playing with a pulled groin with no lateral movement. We had hideous luck with our O-Line and injuries. Our starters (see '06 season) were fine until they got hurt.
We also need to get YOUNGER for hte future, but the present STARTERS are sitting pretty for this year. The only question mark I have FOR THIS YEAR is Jansen's recovery. He's tough, but damn, he's gone thru some tough injuries as well.
Due to the age of our o-line starters, it's not even a question of depth anymore. Thomas has been out much of the time for the last two years, and I wouldn't bet against it happening again this year. We simply don't have enough good young o-line players to make it through a 16 game season. You even say it yourself; we're just a couple of o-line injuries away from bascially being done for the season. Who wants to be against this happening this year? Not me.
And the other problem is our weak d-line. We need a tackle and another end. Bad. I wouldn't even worry about WR or CB until we beef up our lines.

In theory, I agree that O-line is a very high priority, but I think we can get a better OG in the 3rd rnd than WR. It's just that good WR's tend to go fast. As for CB, That's way down our list of needs. We need at least 1 WR, 1 good pass rushing DL (doesn't matter DE or DT). & a young OG to groom. After that, we need depth at S (only 3 on roster) & a young SLB to groom behind Washington. Maybe Sinclair, Wallace or Verdun-Wheeler will turn out to be that player, but I wouldn't bet on it.

A couple of starters? What team has a whole offensive line worthy of starting in reserve? I did say that STARTERS we're fine but DEPTH, we need to work on. I don't think that anyone here can forecast injuries any better than anyone else, so your speculating at best about the health of our team throughout the season.

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
PALM BEACH, Fla.--The Washington Redskins were awarded three additional picks in the NFL draft in April, including a third-rounder, today. The league announced the compensatory draft choices awarded based on a formula balancing players lost and added in free agency. The Redskins were awarded the highest of the compensatory selections, the 96th overall pick in the draft. Their other two compensatory choices come in the seventh round, Nos. 242 and 249 overall. The Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens also were awarded third-round picks. The Ravens and Bengals were awarded four picks each, the most in the league.

Comp picks can't be traded.
And that is a good thing. I really like the idea of building through the draft. I feel as though we are only a few pieces of the puzzle away from being dominate. Our fate ultimately falls in the hands of Zorn and Campbell. Everyone else is just a supporting cast that we need to play follow the "leaders" of the team. One or two gems in the draft will work wonders for this team. Go Vinny!
