How am I not supposed to be offended by that. I came here to talk football, relavent to what's happening between the redskins, champ and the lions. I have not resorted to ad hominems or questioned anyone's intelligence or maturity here, but I guess because I'm not a redskins fan, it's okay to do that to me.
No, it wasn't an attempt at humor. I had something bad happen to a good friend. His daughter met and was killed by an online "pen pal". It was all over the news, three years ago. I'm not linking you to it, so forget it.
Again, I'm sorry. It's the "Dad" in me, kickin' in. I'll leave you alone.

I'm a Lion fan like Champ&Boss. I know who he is and who is source is. All I can tell you about his source, is that he is well-placed within the Lion organization. According to him, the Lions have rejected the initial Redskin trade demands, but talks are continuing. Of a more significant note, Champ himself has told the Lions that he wants to play for them.
Matt, to win the Black and Blue division you've got to shut down GB and Minn, both throwing teams. Champ gives you what you need - just give us a 1 and 2 and we'll call it even.
I figure the Danny has come in high on his requests to get down to exactly where he wants to be. I am just biding my time to see what happens in 16 days.
They surprised most of us last year with some phenominal moves - I don't expect the same size moves, but I figure for every story the press has glommed onto, there is another possible deal in the background that hasn't leaked yet. It would seem to me to be the best security for the team's moves - fly Gibbs somewhere to talk to someone and conduct quiet meetings with Cerrato, Williams, Snyder elsewhere.

C&B...hope you didn't take me asking about your source as meaning you didn't have one..I know that sources can come from all walks of life. You'd never beleive how I found out the Friday before our last game the SS was leaving. My question was what are the Lions going to offer us in the form of picks and players??
"Sean Taylor is hands down the best athlete I've ever coached it's not even close" Gregg Williams 2005 Mini-Camp
I figure the Skin's will end up with the Lions 1st and 4th this year and Detroits 2nd next.
Lion fans may think they can get Champ for next to nothing but if they don't up the offer some other team will,(K.C.?), and they'll meet Champs money needs and even with His brother in Detroit home is where the cash is.
"I never apologize. I'm sorry but that's just the way I am."
DEHog. As far as sly and I know, it's the redskins making the offers. And the lions rejected them saying they are too high, as do a lot of writers and sportscasters in the media agree. I believe the Lions don't think you can afford the franchise tag and so aren't rushing to get a deal done. Washington is on the clock. Will you franchise him? Feb 24 is the deadline. If I'm not mistaken if we do make a long term contract offer to him that you don't match, say 10 years... then you won't be allowed to use the tag for 10 years (double check with sly on that one). Another incentive of not using the tag.
There are two things here: What the Redskins get, and what kind of contract Champ gets. We have no problems giving Champ what he wants. It's within the Lions means to make him the highest paid cornerback in the league. What the lions have a problem with is the high price the Redskins are asking to let him go. All teams say the same thing: too expensive, get another corner. It is a deep free agent cornerback market anyway. The lions don't think Snyder will have complete control over the situation. But we'll see what kind of miracle he can perform next.
It's a game of high stakes poker and Champ is the pot...you (Detroit) have wanted to win Champ before Joe even sat down at the table. You can hem and haw and try to bluff but that won't work 'cuz your "heart" is on your sleeve, Mr. Champ&Boss (you can call me Mr. One&Two). You're going to wait too long and lose the pot and continue to be the same do-nothing organization as always. Say hi to Barry Sanders for me.
Champ is the first choice for sure, but not the only choice. I know we are looking at Plummer among other cornerbacks as well. If we don't get Champ, it's not the end of the world. We'll just get him for free next year.
OK...good luck on the free pick-up - there may be a SLIGHT chance that might not happen. That reminds me of the Movie Dumb&Dumber when the pretty girl tells Jim Carey that he has about a one-in-a-million chance of going out with her and he is so happy and says "so you're saying I've got a shot".
Champ is a marquee CB, top 3 no doubt.
He is easily worth a #1 and #2 pick based off of the Laverneous Coles factor (getting a proven player instead of a prospect).
Whoever get Champ (including the Skins) will have a 25 yeard old CB shutting down the secondary for 5-7 years.
I do hope the Skins keep Champ, and I know that once Champ secures a long term contract he will be back to his old self and play for the sport instead of his bank account.
If this turns into a yearly franchise game of tag then it will get ugly and I assure you Skins fans do not like that (Sean Gilbert).
The Skins do not have to budge on this one. It is a WIN/WIN situation. A 6.8 mil cap figure is not as bad as it sounds when we only need to cut Bruce Smith and a few others to regain that...it would be a lot more helpful if Champ would just gauge his value and the Skins honored what his true worth is....otherwise another team will have to ante up...the Skins are not dumb and are by far the best at offseason games of poker.

"No splashing of the chips!!!" - Rounders
Our front office sure better know what their doing if they're gonna let champ leave us.. we can't ge anything less than a either 2 "high" 1st round picks or a 1st round pick and a "high" quality player!! anything less gets the "hell naw!!"
