I don't think there is any question that letting Schottenheimer go in favor of Spurrier was a mistake. But let's not confuse Schottenheimer with Lombardi - there is a reason he has all those regular season wins and no rings. There is a reason so many Charger fans are calling for his job. Those Chiefs teams he had were loaded with talent, and not even coming away with an AFC Championship says a lot.

I'm not sure Gibbs is going to get the job done, but I'd much rather have him than Schottenheimer.

And, for all those who want to blame Brunell for the Redskins ills, according to stats, he has a rating of 90.1, completing 63 percent. That's 13th out of 45 rated QB's, ahead of Palmer, Brady, Leftwich, Delhomme, B Johnson, Culpepper, Favre, M Hasselbeck, Vick, McNair, Bledsoe, Plummer, among others.

Funny, but Carr is the second rated QB in the NFL (108.9) but the Texans are still pretty bad.

It's the only good thing Spurrier ever did for us. . .he was the one who prepared the way for Gibbs. With Schotty in there we may have gone through 5-10 reasonably good seasons (he might very well still be here), but I agree with you, SIII, that I don't like Schotty teams' odds in the playoffs.

I'll always remember his 8-3 run with us, for which I was pretty grateful!
