It's that time of year again. Sportswriters are slewing garbage hoping to catch a reaction -- oh wait, that's all year!

This trade would never happen. Period.

No, the fact that you're not an idiot trying to fill time on air with a totally baseless rumor excuses your bizarre decision to live with talking bears.
My point is that these are some bored talk show hosts who have nothing else to do because the Chargers are done and the most exciting thing the Padres have done is sign the corpse formerly known as Mike Piazza.

P.S. You just came to the defense of sports "journalists" ... getting weak in your old age :P

But what if I would like to be an idiot trying to fill time on air if someone paid me to be.
And i'd like to start doing podcasts so then I really will be an idiot trying to fill time on air.

No I didn't. I merely pointed out to you, quite sarcastcally albeit, that there was an error in your statement. The rumor was made up by stupid, bored journalists... but it's their lack of knowledge and fact considering that makes them stupid, not geography.

... and I was actually born in England, so Paddington is the only bear I'll talk to.

With so many British/Canadian roots and disrespecting Winnie?

Our friends in Manitoba are definitely not happy.

Winnie is so -disrespected- that he might just try to use it as an excuse to win a superbowl, everybody else is using the same excuse!

They used to but then they got all high and mighty and started hiring mouthpieces to speak for them but then they ate the mouthpieces. Then a wizard came and was all "blah blah blah magic and curses and one of you will become a cup of genius and extraordinary power and good looks and your name shall be Fios" and next thing you know, BAM, I have a straw and these amazing hands.

No, you will be a well informed person trying to fill time on the air and convince others that only you can understand the bears and spreading the gospel of the magical talking cup

See what happens when the season ends' and we don't have anything to talk about, so we just make up things. There's no way we trade Portis period.

Glad you are NOT in charge of player personnel.

One would think that with all the reasons (importance, chemistry and cap) at this stage this thread would simply go away. It surprises me that it is still here and worse, somebody is toying with the trade terms.

No question. As someone said before: it is the offseason already.

There you have it... 100% proof that the trade would be a bad idea.

Why some of you even considering this trade this will be stupid as hell. That is whats wrong with the Redskins we keep filling wholes that dont need to be filled. CP is better then LJ, LJ had a better line in front of him and he could be a one hit wonder. LJ also from what I heard could be a cancer in the locker room. CP has done everthing for this organization, he is in the top 5 in terms of RB in my eyes, he is an all around player, and also one of the best block RB I have ever seen. Did I forget to mention not selfish he is all about the team. This should not even be a consideration. So message to some of you on here stop jumping on other peoples bandwagon. Stick with the great players we have on this team and stop trying to change it.

1 Is Portis not the consumate team player who does whatever the team needs him to do?

2 Is Portis not a leader in the locker room, who has earned the respect of his team mates?

3 Is Portis not among the most multi-dimensional running backs in the league?

4 Is Portis not a threat to go yard every time he touches the ball?

5 Is Portis not constantly in action, NEVER taking a play off? If he is on the field, he is hitting someone.

6 Is Portis not a substantial asset in "max protect" schemes?

7 Has Clinton Portis not exceeded 1500 running yards in each of his first 3 seasons?

8 Is Clinton Portis' goofy behavior actually helpful in creating a postitive clubhouse atmosphere?

Eight questions asked. Every response is yes.

Replace Clinton Portis with Larry Johnson? The only "Yes" then, is to question 4.

I'm just glad that the decision maker is Coach Gibbs, and not some of the geniuses who would jump on every talented headcase that crossed the wire. Think about our "team" then... Marcus Vick... TO... Randy Moss... LJ... "The Washington Head Cases" Tons of talent, and all of it First Class Grade A Primadonna. "ME! ME! ME!"

No Brainer...
No deal.

Countertrey wrote:7 Has Clinton Portis not exceeded 1500 running yards in each of his first 3 seasons?

The answer to that is actually no. Instead he has gone 1300+ each of his first four seasons, a feat only matched by HOFers Earl Campbell and Barry Sanders. Additionally, he has gone over 1500 three out of four years. He also holds the Redskins single season rushing record! The guy isn't just good, he's one of the best in the history of the game!

Also, I would have to answer "yes" for question 4 for LJ, like Portis every time he touches the ball he can score. However, you are right, Portis is certainly the better rounded back and the leader of this team. Just based on his leadership I wouldn't trade him for anything. It would be the Redskins equivalent of the Pats trading Tom Brady.

You're all mad, I tell you. Mad. Everybody knows bears can't dance. Apart from the one Bryan Adams used to sing about - she's only happy when she's dancing. That was about a bear, wasn't it?
