Lumsden wont make the team over Rock, nor should he. So what if Lumsden outperforms him in the preseaoson and in TC. Rock has done it in the NFL. He has good career numbers including like 4.5 yards a carry and about 750 career yards. Also, Did Rock not prove himself last year when he ran for 100 yards on the road against St. Louis?? I have no problem with Lumsden and I would like to see him get no the practice squad over Broughton and if they bring 4 RBs on I would prefer it to be Lumsden than Broughton but not Lumsden over Rock.

That's a tab bit conclusive this early in the preseason, ain't it? What if Lumsden outperforms Rock? That might not be likely but you can't say it won't happen. I think the coaching staff is perfectly capable of determining which RB better suits the Redskins needs

Even if Lumsden outperforms Rock in the PRESEASON he still has not proved himself over rock. Rock has proved it when it matters and that is all it comes down to. Lumsden has done just as much as Broughton and they are fighting for the 4th RB spot.

Chris Clemons ring a bell? It seems its "what have you done for me lately?" at Redskins park.

I expect to see Rock on the roster. If Jesse looks good, he might be the #3 RB with Sellers & Rock at FB. Manny & Nemo either go practice squad or home.

I think people are entitled to their own opinions, but I just thought that I'd put a few things out there...
1) Rock is actually on many Redskins depth charts as the #2 fullback.
2) the Redskins have been talking about giving Jesse a look at fullback
3) with Betts not only recovering from a hamstring injury, but also being in the final year of his contract, some people are of the mindset that the Redskins need a little bit of a Plan B at RB.
Why not keep 5 guys on the roster in the backfield? CP, Betts, Sellers, Cartwright and Lumsden. The last two can definitely make special teams contributions regardless of their playing time on the offense... fact is... eight of the 53 guys that make the final roster AREN'T even going to dress on Sundays... so there will likely be a guy or two on the final roster that still aren't getting any game time.
... I agree that Broughton is the guy that Lumsden has to try and beat out... but I don't see how anything done last year will make much difference in that decision... I think it'll just be a case of which one earns the spot THIS year.
... and that's without really taking special teams into it. If either Jesse or Nemo show worth there too, then they're a lock to make this team IMO... fifth guy or not.
The fact that the Redskins are thin at RB might dictate that whichever of those two guys wins the 'battle' ISN'T put on the practice squad for the simple reason that in order to do so... the player would have to clear waivers (and clear them at a time when all teams will be scouring that waiver wire for help).
I think if Jesse can put up a good performance or two this offseason, he has a very good opportunity of making this team.

These are the 5 I predict will make the 53 man roster. Having guys who can play RB or FB is a good thing. Added benefit of Lumsden is that he can return kicks.

Hmm
Art Monk liked guys from Canada?
Ahhh... you know... Monk... Clearly an "Americanized" version of "Monc" as in "Moncton, NB"... eh?
And, you call yourself Canadian.
