I may lose faith in the Redskins organisation, but never in Joe Gibbs.
At this point, the Redskins organization IS Joe Gibbs. OK, he probably has nothing to do with the business side of things (the hated ticket prices, parking fees, etc.), but he's certainly running the football side of things.

Hopefully that's soon, because Lombardi never had a losing season.
Allright Mursilis! I also hope it happens soon - that would also mean that Gibbs' had the team back into the top echelon of pro football and knew that whoever was going to be our next coach was ready to take over. Not entirely realistic but a positive way to think, welcome aboard
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

However, I want to hear some hard numbers from people - how long should Gibbs have before we can start looking for some results (playoffs, maybe)? Like so many other fans, I was excited beyond belief when Gibbs came back at the end of the '03 season, but the 'skins improving their record by only one win last year was a big let-down. The great start this year (3-0) again got me thinking this was the turn-around year, but this latest 2-5 skid is just crushing. When can we expect the 'skins to start scaring teams again?
didn't last year count? I say let him do what he wants.
I know Gibbs's 2nd run here has been disappointing on the whole, but remember that it's not like we were doing anything before he got here and we did manage to win a playoff game just 12 months ago, even though it seems like years since that great day.

Oh, the good old days of Norv, Steve, Ritchie and Marty and all those playoff appearances they they gave us. Firing Gibbs will solve that, superbowl calibre coaches can't wait to work for teams that fire the greatest coach in their history for not going to the playoffs every year. The problem is you don't remember going to the playoffs last year, so if you give him a couple years including the playoffs next year you still fire him. Too bad we can't fire fans when they "blow."
Agreed . As long as he wants. The best living football coach., and nobody is a close second. Parcells? distant second. Walsh? Not if the 49ers had played in the NFC East -- did Jerry Rice ever get his uniform dirty?
Realistically: Gibbs is about 66 this year. He has two more seasons on the contract, so I expect he will coach two more years.
Does he have the insight, emotional power, and skill to lead the team?
Of course.
Consider the change in the Redskins when Gibbs steped back into the middle of the offense, and ordered the whole team to play Redskins football.
He said it then...I've said it before (having noticed the Gibbs method): the offensive and defensive lines are the engine of the team. Runners and such are fancy tires, but he team with the over-powering brute-force engine will win most of the time.
A test: how many QB's did Gibbs have in his three SB wins? How many RB's? And how many centers? Joe J started all three. Russ Grimm played in and started two. Mark May started two. Butz and Manley and Mann and Grant started two SB wins.
Some journalists think that finess wins over "smash-mouth". Watch SB 17 and SB 22 again.
