Wow is all I can say. I really can't believe how Gibbs is handling this. I'm about as big a Gibbs homer as there is though, so I'll defer to him and not question the move. If Gibbs is pulling Ramsey for Brunell based on performance, then Gibbs must really see something wrong with Patrick.

Since he's done this, it proves to me that Patrick will never succeed here, so if some team is willing to trade for him, we may as well do it and get something for him. Leaves us thin at QB, but we can always pick up a serviceable backup.

I really have absolutely NO faith in Brunell being able to win games against good teams, so I really really hope Joe knows what he's doing. Guess we'll find out Monday going against a Cowboys team that just beat the Chargers at their stadium.

My high hopes for this season just flatlined...

Do people forget how bad BRUNELL WAS LAST YEAR!!!!!! Everyone is saying he has to feep the course steady and hand it to Portis and I believe he couldnt do that last year

WHY IS HE BETTER????? Explain dont use the less Def TDS thing because brunell gave up more last year

I am the biggest Brunell hater of them all and when I heard this news I almost cried

If we get rid of Ramsey and Brunell starts WE WILL TANK THE YEAR AND I WILL KILL LANCE BRIGGS

you're losing faith because he benched an average QB in favor of another average QB?

I am losing faith because of the uncertainty we have endured since 1992. Football is entertainment and is a product that I am not enjoying right now.

I don't know. I am tired of this crap right now!!!

I want to eat crow until I burst, but no birds in sight.

It looks to me that brunell is a different qb then last year, when he missed passes sunday he was long and high, last year squirrels were diving for cover, I think something maybe his hamstring is vastly healed.

Ramsey had his chance last year and didn't do much, neither did brunell. The case is, they both aren't very good based on last years performance. This season brunell looks better.

DID HE SCREW UP LAST GAME OR WHAT? HE WAS CRAP IN PRESEASON SO WHO CARES HE DID FINE IN THE BEAR GAME AND THE REDSKINS HAD A MUCH MORE AFFECTIVE OFFENSE ON third down offense with him and all together better flow

Ramsey is not a very good QB. Point blank. I think we all like him and see his potential, but he has not played very well at all. He consistenly has a 75 passer rating, and throws a lot of picks.

He can't move, holds the ball too long, and has NEVER in history thrown the ball out of bounds. Bottom line is he is NOT that good.

Potential only means you haven't done a darn thing YET, but you could..maybe...possibly.

Sure, Brunnell was bad last year...but maybe it was due to the overall offense being bad, him not knowing the system, the ineptitude of the run game, and his injury.

You shouldn't give up now. He could be the comeback player of the year.

Well, considering he's a journalist it's probably his job :D

Plus he's pretty good so it's not surprising he found this out first.

Regardless if we think this decision makes sense or not (I don't), this is truly the shabbiest I have ever seen Gibbs handle a personnel move (and yes, I've been a rabid fan since the late 70s, so I'm VERY familiar with Gibbs). Truly, Gibbs has pretty much told everyone now that he lied to Ramsey both last year and this preseason.

Ramsey was NEVER going to be the starter. For whatever reason, Gibbs never had confidence in the guy. They should have moved him this offseason. Truly, this is just an extremely shabby way of handling things - something that I doubt will be lost on the rest of the team.

As for the switch, Brunell looked as bad as bad could be last year. He simply doesn't have the accuracy any more, and truly, I ain't impressed with the guy's decision making (3rd and goal on the 3 and we pass in the ground to the 1 yard line??).

Gibbs seems to be going for the Ravens Superbowl philophy - he's given up on real offensive production and is just hoping to win ugly. This is fine, but again, this is about the first unclassy thing I can remember him doing.

Again, from my standpoint, Ramsey has a far better upside in terms of accuracy, but clearly makes turnovers far more often than Gibbs would like. Gibbs seems to be saying that Ramsey is too stupid to change. This is a fine decision for him to make whether we disagree with it or not; but truly, he should have handled this situation FAR better. Ramsey deserves to be traded and Gibbs deserves some bad press.

Yeah but he knew about Campbell in the draft, and I don't think anyone was really supposed to know about that.

in terms of accuracy...? last time i checked he throws interceptions left and right, but has a cannon for an arm.

Ramsey has FAR better accuracy downfield. He does make bad decisions though. Brunell just doesn't seem to have a chance of hitting anyone past 15 yards. Perhaps he ate some magical beans after Sunday's game. If so, I wish he'da taken them last year.

I agree that this is the worst I've ever seen Gibbs handle any situation. I guess that's why it was so totally unexpected for me personally. It is certainly obvious to me NOW that Gibbs indeed does NOT like Ramsey as a QB for some reason. It's also evident that he's felt this way for some time. I agree with you skinsfanno, he should have moved Ramsey in the offseason. We could have gotten more for him and it woulda been more fair to Ramsey. I think Gibbs let the fans dictate his actions a little and that was a mistake Gibbs doesn't usually make.

All this taken into consideration, I still have complete faith in Gibbs and I know he will get us back to the big game very soon. We as a team have made huge strides. ALL we need is solid play from the QB spot and we are a dominant team. I hope Campbell fits the bill next season. I certainly have no faith in Brunell, but Gibbs knows more than I do...

mort has his ways--i've always liked him. i think he has a special contract with the league to be an ESPN insider, probably part of some media deal the league has with espn so that he and john clayton get unadulterated access to information.

It is advantegous to Ramsey and his agent if they control the timing of his announcement that he is seeking a trade, let's other teams know he's asking and allows them to dictate the terms of the trade to a somewhat greater degree.

Again, I'm a skins fan through and through, and will root for Scott, George or Harry Brunell (whatever the announcers decide his first name is next week) as much as I ever have for Ramsey. We can win games by playing ball control and great defense. I don't know that we make the playoffs that way (I really thought we needed more from the offense to do this), but maybe this was never a possibility.

Incidentally, color me unimpressed with Brunell yesterday.

*Orders more magic beans for Brunell*

Don't do that just yet 1fan, just being asked to be traded doesn't equate being traded. He's likely trying to make a statement because he's upset.

And if Ramsey isn't the QB you're not a fan? That's pretty weak.
