He's gone? Where did he go? Did someone pick him up?

THE NEWS
Wide receiver Freddie Mitchell, released last week by the Eagles, indicated interest in the Bucs, Redskins, Titans, and Broncos, and specifically cited Denver quarterback Jake Plummer as a potential teammate. "I have always been a big fan of Jake's," Mitchell told the Denver Post. "It's literally never over with him. I know he will give receivers second and third opportunities to make a great play."
OUR VIEW
Mitchell has never lived up to the potential promised by his status as a first-round draft pick, and his inability to keep his mouth shut helped punch his ticket out of Philly. It's unlikely he'll surface as anything more than a third or fourth receiver.

Has anyone from the Redskins actually said they could be interested in him specifically? I saw a quote whereby someone stated they will evaluate many free agents but that doesn't mean we are likely to sign him.
The idea gets a huge NOOOOOOO!!! from me too!
I too cannot believe there is such a long thread about this waste of space....but then again, I'm also contributing even if it is to shout NOOOOOOO!!!

OK, there goes the chance to trade Gardner for Mitchell.
Maybe now the Eagles would trade us a spare practice jersey for Gardener. Trade a player??? Not likely.

Hey, I'd be willing to go for that trade! Only if it was straight up though.

I don't want to see Gardner go to Philly. He's big and I have a sneaking suspicion that he's the kind of player that would prosper there. Although that coaching staff can't develop a cold when it comes to WRs...

Please, God, if there's any justice in the world, don't allow the Redskins to sign Freddie Mitchell. Please.

Wouldn't you want Mitchell over Gardner though? I mean, think about it. I think Mitchell is better than Gardner, plus he'll be our trash talker. (We really need one....to make it interesting)

But if you were forced to keep one of them, who would you keep? (Forget money for a while) I'd keep Mitchell just because he's something new. Maybe he'll do well in our offense, who knows? We've already had Gardner for a while and he has not gotten better. I think if Mitchell is willing to get paid a little, it might be better JUST to see what he brings to the table. If he sucks, just cut him at the end of the season!
Plus, we could have a little peek of Philly's playbook!
But, I doubt he'll take a short term contract.....

Mitchell has only got something like 90 catches in his career. If he was going to be any good, surely he would have had the chance in Philly where they've not exactly been blessed with talent recently.
I'd have Gardner over Mitchell any day.

Why waste time with Mitchell? He's a proven bust. Why give coaching time to an outsider when we have young guys on our roster with unseen potential. Why? Why do you guys enjoy signing horrible players? Why doesn't anyone approve of coaching the people we draft? Then everyone wants to complain about a lack of depth and cap room....

This assumes that Freddy knew what was going on up in Philly. I'm willing to be that some random benchwarmer could give us a more sophisticated take on the offense than Mitchell.
If we're going to make a serious inquiry into Fred's intelligence and offensive scheme genius, I'd like to reference GF, who will probably say all kinds of nice things about Mitchel if given the chance.

Just don't make any business deals with him and you'll probably like him as your #5 receiver. Assuming you don't ever watch the news, read the paper, or open any thread here ever again.

I think Freddie has the best haircut since John Riggins came to a Jets camp with a mohawk. And, considering the times, Riggo's haircut was about twice as outlandish, but still Freddie would be interesting to have in Washington as...as...well, I can't think of a position he could play. Maybe he could be a "greeter" and shake hands with fans as they enter the stadium?

I was surfing around and found something with the extremeskinners. Supposedly JGibbs said that FMitchell was "not a good fit." That means we're not getting him, don't worry.

Gibbs just needs to get to know the "real" Freddie, that's all. The druck driving, country music Freddie. He'd love that Freddie.
