Let me get this straight:

Talk about the Washington Football Team here. Do you bleed burgundy and gold?

Thai,
If you are so certain that you are such a genius, and the rest of us are idiots for waiting to see how things play out, why bother lowering yourself into a discussion with us?

I'm looking for lively discussion about the team we share a mutual love for. I don't view myself as a genius or anyone else as an idiot. We have differences of opinion. I'm mere laying out my case for why I believe as I do. I didn't think that people would be so afraid to speak openly about their own team. I didn't realize that you had to unquestioningly accept every move and every pick we make. My apologies ...
We drafted two top-shelf players in the first round.

We drafted one top-shelf player (Rogers) and overpaid for one player who may or may not play in the next few years and who may or may not be eventually be better than the QB we already have (Ramsey). Gee ... I feel all warm and fuzzy now thinking about it.
What more do you want? You want the coaching staff to consult your list of priorities before making their choices?

Yes... that will be nice. (just kidding)

Of course, I don't deny your devotion to the Skins. But the writing is on the wall. The GM argument is fairly weak though. Gibbs has always had a great deal of influence on the players that he wants. Heck most Head Coaches and GM's make these decisions together. It is not a convincing argument to suggest that Gibbs was just dumped 12 players and told 'okay joe..have at it'.

It was a process of evaluation just as it is today. I will say that the role of a GM may be needed for us, not so much for talent evaluation, but for Cap Management.

The same philosophy does work now. All of the successful teams are excellent at making tough decisions. Patriots, Eagles, Steelers all have made unpopular decisons that turned out to be the right move.

Pats: Cut Lawyer Milloy when everyone said the secondary would falter. They brought in Harrison whom most of the league had passed on to the shagrin of many commentators, fans etc.

They also traded Ted Washington, and refused to re-negotiate with Ty Law. They cut Troy Brown after he sacrificed incentives on offense to play Defense.

Steelers: They let Rod Woodson go when people thought it was a bad move. They recently cut Plaxico Burress (proof that a big reciever who was good in college is not neccesarily the nest T.O) Drafted Hines Ward whom everyone passed on saying he will never be an NFL QB, and can't play receiver because he is too small. Drafted Ben Rothlesberger when Tommy Maddox was playing well and expected to be the starter. People said, why? The guy is a rookie and they needed immediate help to contend with the Pats. We know how that turned out.

Eagles: Drafted McNabb when everyone, including the fans Booed..saying the same things people say about Campbell. Let Charlie Garner, Jerehmehia Trotter, Ricky Waters, Bobby Taylor, Troy Vincent, Hugh Douglass go when they were still playing well.
Drafted Brian Westbrook in a later round.

I mean the list goes on. The old school method works well, and it can work for us if you give it time.

Didn't say he had no say just that he had a good GM who was good at helping find the later round talent and also did so with the Chargers. In fact if you remember, Beathard and Gibbs were notorious for going at it so badly that JKC had to step in a times like a dad "turning this car around" when the boys in the backseat wouldn't stop fighting.

As for the rest of your post , I'll simply say this:

God I hope you're right.

And like I said before ... I will NEVER be more happy being wrong in my entire life.

Bite my tongue before I start, but I wish Danny had been in charge of the off-season instead of Joe. I think we'd now have Brown or Abraham at DE, Williams at WR, Smoot at CB, Pierce at MLB, and probably Miller at TE, as well as McCune and a power runner for short yardage. As for Coles, he's be sitting his worthless butt on the pine, where it belongs and that jerk Moss would be the jet's problem. Brunnel, of course, would be history, and McPherson would probably be grooming for No. 2.

Sounds like you have all the facts. What is it exactly that you were looking to get straight ?
We're paying the price for past excesses now. There was no way to retain Smoot and Pierce without crippling ourselves. Coles was probably a mistake...in today's league, you can't handle the malcontents like you used to. That put us in the hole, deeply.
It also cuffed us in regards to our draft choices. The rookie pool isn't nearly enough to sign two prima donnas, so we didn't draft any. Sounds good to me.
We're gonna have to wait until this all plays out before we go around saying it's a total loss.
Isn't it funny, though ? Usually (lately) this time of year, we're taking ring measurements. ROTFALMAO
Maybe the rule of opposites will work for us.
All I know is this...if you're ditching the team, at least no one will ever be able to call you a fair-weather fan. It's been too long a drought for that.

SOMETHING MAGICAL IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!"

Not yet though. As another poster alluded to the cap goes up next year andit might provide us the room to move to cut Brunell this June 1rst. Remember the cap hit won't really hit us until next offseason but by then we'll have a higher cap to work with. Like I told the other posted this might be the best reason yet to draft a QB this year. Still miffed by how much we paid to draft him but if this is the plan then getting a QB now makes sense for our long term cap.

You've got some unusual measuring systems. 30 is not "everyone." The 3rd round is not a later round. Other than that, though, your post is pretty average.
