We trade some picks and Gardner to Oakland with a lower round pick for Buchanan.

We get trade our 9 down to about a 11 or 12 and pick up Troy Williamson or Mark Clayton and with traidging down we get a number 2.

#25 From Denver we get Heath Miller

2nd rounder we get a DE

This way we have everything covered...what do you think?

Cerrato interview on redskins.com

He says we like the depth of this draft and are targeting certain guys with the 25. Also, we would like to trade out of 9 if somebody wants to move up.

Oh man this sucks. What the hell are we thinking. Now we basically have nothing to gain from the draft next year.
The only thing i can thing of is that we might wanna trade up. Because who would we want at the 25th pick overall.
I dont like this

Any sites with an updated mock draft you know of?

I am completely stunned. This is exactly the type of behavior that I thought had fallen to the wayside when Gibbs returned. I thought frugality, feasibility and fundamentals were the words of the day.
Evidently not. Plus, this little skirmish at the top is reminiscent of Cerrato V. Walsh.
I'm really considering not going to the Bronx on Saturday to see the Yanks now. There has to be some plan, some strategy that I'm completely missing.
Right now, I am one confused B&G fan. I thought the days of mortgaging the future were done.
Are we still gonna try and move Rod for an additional pick ? Where is all this salary money gonna come from ?

:? Why can we only deal with denver?I know we got the better deal getting Portis for Bailey but we shouldn't suck up to them.I hope there is someone in the draft they are keyed in on for this kind of deal, he better be good.

I think this is great!

The best way to build for the future, I think we all agree, is to build through the draft.

Next year we´ll analyze in what position we are in, but right now this is the best thing that could happen.

I like it.

We havent given one of our first round picks for some veteran who maybe doesnt perform for us and we have much more flexibility to maybe even get more picks out of these movements.

according to gil brandt's draft value board on nfl.com which is what all teams use in setting the value of each pick...

the broncos 25th pick is worth 720 points

the skins 76th pick is worth 210 points

if the skins have the 16th pick in the 2006 draft (midpoint), that pick is worth 1,000 points and the 4th rounder is worth 144 points.
so 720 = 1354. what is the discount value of the 2006 picks and experience of a player with 1 yr under his belt?

The #9 pick last year got a 5 year, 11.5 million dollar deal and the #25 pick gets much less. We can certainly afford this.

Totally unexpected.. personally I'd like to see them draft Merriman at 9 even if a bit high, then go corner later...

Gibbs has been known to perfer Vets over rookies but This was stunning (the volume of picks). But I'm sure there is a plan.
I have figured out what we are doing. I've figured this out so many times that I've decided to wait until Sat. to see how wrong I am

I like teh idea of drafting Merriman with 9th...and then Heath Miller with 25th....wow I would be happy with those picks

My Prediction is as follows:

Trade #9 and 50/50 to Cleveland for #3 and take M. Williams. This reunites Gardner with for WR coach Robiske and lands us our #1 target. With #25, take either Carlos Rogers or Erasmus James

My dream scenario:

Pick 9- Mike Williams
Pick 25- Fabian Washington/Justin Miller

OR

Pick 9- Shawne Merriman
Pick 25- Heath Miller/Roddy White

I say trade the number nine for Phillip Buchanon and Oakland's 2nd, take David Pollack at 25 and draft Barret Ruud in the second and Vincent Jackson in the 4th. That would cover about everything we needed.

I agree that we need a QB, but not one worth a first rounder! I like Ramsey, but its time he decided if he is going to be a quality starter or not. I'd like to take McPherson in a later round if available. He is the best QB (based solely on skills) in the draft

not going to happen.....

Cornerback Phillip Buchanon, the Oakland Raiders first-round pick in the 2002 draft who had fallen out of favor with coaches and club officials in recent months, was traded to the Houston Texans on Tuesday night, ESPN.com has learned.

The Raiders received second- and third-round choices in this year's draft.

The Raiders have been shopping Buchanon for weeks and discussed a possible deal with the Washington Redskins during the past week. Oakland also has been attempting to locate a suitor for its other starting cornerback, Charles Woodson, but hasn't found any takers.

Buchanon, 24, was the 17th player selected overall in the 2002 draft. While the former University of Miami star had slipped in the eyes of the Raiders, other teams felt he still retained playmaking skills and return abilities. In 14 starts last season, he had 59 tackles and three interceptions.

Another attractive element for the Texans is Buchanon's youth and his experience in a system that stressed a considerable degree of man-to-man coverage.

The Texans already have one outstanding young cornerback in Dunta Robinson, one of their two first-rounders in 2004 and a player many felt was the best rookie defender in the NFL last season. Their other starting corner, 11-year veteran Aaron Glenn, will turn 33 this summer. The trade ensures the Texans are prepared for the future at one of the game's high-commodity positions.

In 36 appearances with the Raiders, Buchanon totaled 122 tackles, 11 interceptions and 13 passes defensed. He returned four interceptions for touchdowns, at least one in every season of his brief career. He is also a dangerous punt returner, averaging 11.0 yards with three touchdowns on 72 runbacks.

Buchanon still has two years remaining on his original rookie deal, with base salaries of $700,000 for 2005 and $800,000 for 2006.

I saw that. Unfortunate. I really liked the idea. I posted that in around the league a little while ago.
