sounds easier said than done, but I hope that the skins take this route if we do end up trading him

This boils down to a terrible situation now i don't think we have a hope of making the playoffs. unless Gibbs signs alot of Good Wrs in F.A.

On the contrary, I think this boils down to a great situation if we can figure out how to dump him with the least amount of salary cap issues.

All of the so called "pundits" on this board talk about how horrible we will be next year. They know this because they are so knowledgeable about the Redskins inner workings and player talent. If they really were knowledgeable, then why are they so suprised at the Coles news: in reading all the supporting articles, this pending release was not suprising to anyone in the know; it was playing out all year in the clubhouse.

Our offense sucked last year. Among other reasons was that the wideouts could simply not get enough separation, especially deep. And if Coles was disgruntled, then that's another reason to dump him.

Gibbs is molding this team. He is getting rid of guys that couldn't get it done. Don't you think Gibbs would react differently if Coles was one of the guys he wanted? Geez, it reminds me of last year when people were on the Iffy bandwagon.

Stay the course.

Once again....you didn't steal him or take him.....You BOUGHT HIM. Just like the rest of the FA who sign with the skins. You had to throw more money than those players ever seen at them just to get them to play in Washington. Then your owner thorws those same player out on their asses before the life of the contract is over.

Sounds like a great way to run a franchise.

I told you guys you can't just throw a ton of money at a guy and expect him to work as hard as he did when he made 300K. IT's been proved over & over again.

Doesn't everyone "buy" free agents or have the Jets figured out someway to get them for free?

When you throw more money than they guy is asking for or is even worth...That is BUYING a player.

When you go after a restricted free agent you have to offer more money than they are worth, at least to the team you are trying to take them from.

Don't be bitter cause you lost him two years ago. It's funny that you are no where to be seen until this report came out.

Do you have hair like Don King with a pink coloring?

Oh... So you mean like the $31 million ($7 million signing bonus) the Jets gave McCareins and gave up a 2nd Rounder for... all for an outstanding 770 yards season and 4 TD's on the year?

Cool... thanks for clearing that up....

Ummm...we traded a 2nd round pick for Justin McCareins...then signed him to a long term deal.

See the Difference?

How can i be bitter? The Jets have been the better team since the Skins signed all those Players. We have made the playoff's twice and those moves cleared alot of space for the talent we have now.

The Skins...

Have failed to improve. Have failed to get into the playoff's . Signed a HOF coaching staff and a HC for a DC and they still can't get it together. Now in this offseason the team skins are losing "Core Redskins" and you guys are still taking shoots at me.

Can any of you honestly say the skins made out better??

Umm.... We gave up a first instead of your second... and we got 500 more yards and 2 more TD's out of ours.... so I'm still not following your point?

We didn't throw Cash at him to get him to leave the Titans like the skins did to coles.

We traded for him a 2nd round pick...no money involved. Then signed him to an extention.

How is that the same as what the skins did?

Who cares how we got him? Is that why you being bitter? The thing is we got him... but you keep saying we over paid for him... your guy got $31 mil Coles got $35... yeah Coles signing bonus was bigger but he's also a better player (pre-toe injury)... So what I'm saying to you is if The Skins overpaid... So did the Jets...

Who cares how you got him?? WTF were we just talking about?

There is a huge difference in how those 2 players were aquired .

Plus JM is bigger & Younger and a true possesion reciever, who had 50 less catches than coles and 3 more Td's. Oh yea...he's cheaper & has 2 healthy feet...Plus...Pennington was hurt and then played with a torn rotator cuff and we had paul "3 & 10 Draw" Hackett.

You can expect better #'s this season with his old OC in town

now we get to the excuses... great.. :|... I'm comparing first year to first year... did you not read the pre toe injury part?... here let me throw in some excuses .... Coles did it with Ramsey (still fresh out of the box) and Hasselbeck (never had any NFL experience).... there so were back to even on excuses... But you got me on the younger, McCariens is younger by less than one year... an excellent point...

You're totally right, I'm wrong.... If what we're discussing is "how they were acquired"... as If some how that's important in the realm of football.... then yes...there was a difference...

and if that's what you're so bitter about... you're a sad little man...

How am i bitter? You gave us a 1st round pick...We have made the plaoff's both seasons since the deal, you have not. Coles cost you 13Mil in SB....You are looking to cut him.

Please tell me again why im suppose to be bitter. The first day i came here,i said Dan Snyder was a fool. I got Mocked and told how the skins were so much better than the jets and how our players wanted out of NY because we were a sinking ship. Now it's 2 years later. You still stink. We are much better than we were with those players. With the money they cost you you are handcuffed and pretty much in cap hell till thend end of the next decade. The Jets Got Drob with that Pick and much needed cap relief to sign player such as Ellis, Pennington , McCareins,Barrett & Barton enough money to Tag Abraham .

It should be clear...Dan Snyder is a Moron ,a buisness man who doesn't know how to run an NFL franchise. Do you need a list of Old over priced player he paid to much for? Do you need a list of players he signed thru FA that cost too much money? Somebody should have told him about the salary cap.

What amazes me is why i don't see threads like" Snyder is killing this franchise" or " Snyder stinks"...Instead you guys stick up for him like a drunk relative. He makes money?? So what? how does that help you win games? Your team has been in the NFC cellar for the last 6 or 7 years.

Then he pulls a stunt like the credit card scam...and how many times has the league investigated him for bending the rules?

So you will have to forgive me when i take your opinions with a grain of salt when i see you glorify this man.

Yes we gave you a 1st round pick. It was extremely well worth it, but he got hurt. It just happens to be a bad injury that will probably affect his entire career from now on. Does that make it any worse of a deal at the time we made it? Coles would have been one of the best WRs in the game by now if not for that injury. Please don't try and argue that because he got hurt, Snyder is a moron. These things happen, and are NOT predictable. We are NOT going to cut Coles unless he gives up his entire remaining bonus. If he does that, then our cap will reflect it, hence whatever bonus he signed will not matter. I think Coles will still be here next season, but if not, it won't hurt the Skins. We will probably trade for somebody else, and they will take up some or all of his cap space.

Once again, do some studying instead of listening to the morons at ESPN. We are NOT in cap hell, and we never have been. Our team has been bad, partly because of snyders stupid signings EARLY in his ownership, but mostly because we've had bad to average coaching who couldn't convince the players that they COULD win.

Go ahead, give me a list of bad signing the Skins have made in the last couple years. Aside from Brunell(which was Gibbs signing) who can you name? Name some players who were paid too much. Injuries don't count either, because they are unpredictable.

We've made some great signings, and our defense reflects it. Next season, our offense will reflect it too.

Move on Smizzy, your just a troll now. Every single time I see a post of yours, it's all about you trying to get under peoples skin. That's not allowed here. This is a forum for discussing football, mainly redskins football. We don't hate you or talk smack about your team. Why do you seem to hate us and the redskins so much? Nobody here that I've seen has bad mouthed you or your team until you started it. We LOVE our team, and if you love yours as much as we do, you know how pissed off we get when you start talking trash about our guys. If this were a board at espn, or wherever, that would be one thing. This is a site dedicated to the redskins. That's why we are here. Why are you here? Primetime42 and GF are here, I suspect, because it's a very active board and they like talking football. While some of us here may be delusional at times, we are pretty damn smart about the game of football. I think that's why we have some regulars from other teams. They don't come here just to get under our skin. You do. Again, I ask, why are you here?

One other thing Smizzy. You wanna know why redskins fans love Dan Snyder?

I know three things about Snyder. He paid record money for the redskins. He makes lots of money off the team(more than any other NFL owner). Last and most important, he spends lots of money on the players and coaches because he loves this team and wants it to win. You may not agree with how he's gone about it, but you know what? You don't matter to him or me. Redskins fans are the only thing he cares about when it comes to this team. I for one, will always take an owner who tries everything he can think of in trying to make the team a good one. I don't care what anybody else thinks about him. He does what he does because he loves the team, and that's all that matters to me. I may not always agree with what he's doing, but he's also shown much growth the last couple years, and bringing Gibbs back was a stroke of pure genius. I wouldn't want any other owner in the league.
