When asked by the Washington Post if he would report to training camp on July 31, Taylor responded, "We'll see."

I don't think he wants to come to Camp. He probably thinks he doesn't need to because he has sooo much ego.

Man, "We'll see" is just not what I wanted to hear. At least he could have said 'Hopefully'.

We'll see isn't what any of us wanted to hear. But it's the 1st we've heard from him since this whole mess started. He didn't say he won't be at Camp. Taylor isn't a criminal.....(The real Gs know when you are awaiting trial the best thing you can do is be at work and showing your worth to the community).

If reports are correct the is co-defendant has previously stated that no weapons (Guns or Bats) there during the assault, Taylor may have been better off he the dude had flipped. His conflicting statements may have canceled each other out.

Redskins' Taylor allowed to training camp
NFL.com wire reports
MIAMI (July 12, 2005) -- A judge allowed Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor to travel to training camp, and state prosecutors did not offer a plea deal at a court hearing to discuss charges the player pointed a gun during a dispute over an all-terrain vehicle.

Taylor and his father appeared at a court hearing during which prosecutors restated they were charging him with a single felony count of aggravated assault with a firearm and a misdemeanor count of simple battery.

Taylor was allegedly among a group of people who got into a June 1 armed confrontation over an ATV that Taylor and his associates believed had been stolen. He has filed a written plea of not guilty and could face a maximum of 16 years if convicted on both charges.

At the July 12 hearing, prosecutors informed Taylor he could plead guilty to the firearm charge for a mandatory minimum sentence of three years - no change from what already had been stated, said Ed Griffith, spokesman for state attorney's office in Miami-Dade County. Taylor declined.

Circuit Judge Mary Barzee allowed Taylor to travel outside of Florida, with no objection from the state. The Redskins' website says the first training camp practice is Aug. 1.

"He'll be allowed to go to work," Taylor's attorney, Edward Carhart, said.

So at least he is allowed by law, but I wonder what Gibbs will say. Heck, I wonder if Taylor will even come with permission.

Ugh, PLEASE COME SEAN TAYLOR [-o<

Sean loves football, he'll be at Camp... with JGs permission.
Holding him out of camp and the pre-season may have more of a effect on on Taylor than the Florida legal system

This whole thing should be a wake up call for Sean. He needs to know just because he's in the NFL it's not a free time, and since the D.A. in Miama offered him three YEARS jail that tells me that there's really no way Sean will get out of this without some type of Jail time. Hopefully he gets like a Jamal Lewis deal where he spends time in jail during the offseason, but since this is a more serious crime that won't happen.

 "We'll see" what purpose did that answer serve? is this still a 'no one owns me' ganger mentality. What is this kid trying to prove apart from flushing everything he has down the crapper!

I am fed up with stressing about this guy but still I stress about this guy! I read very wise words on these boards with him, wise words and calm heads but still I get fed up.

Well that is my rant over...cheers from one of you over the pond dwelling buddies!

I'm likewise trying to be calm about the matter; but, frankly, I'll be half nuts every day the man is not on the field. I think we're building toward one of the greater defensive units in NFL history and we need the man with us to do it.

He's gonna screw up real bad and not be able to play in the NFL and try to make a come back in 5 years and regret it so much... proabably another story like bam morris or something. When he grows out of his immaturity he'll be kicking himself.

Some additional Sean info on Yahoo Sports.

Although Taylor's trial is scheduled for Sept. 12, the day after the Redskins open the season against the visiting Chicago Bears , the state could opt to consolidate the cases now that Caughman won't be a witness for the prosecution. If the cases are consolidated, then the trial would be set for Oct. 3, Caughman's date. The Redskins play host to Seattle in their third game of the year the previous day.

However, Taylor's attorney, Edward Carhart, will likely ask the court to continue the trial until the offseason so that his client doesn't miss any paychecks. NFL players receive all of their salaries during the 17-week regular season. A state attorney's source said that his office doesn't generally dispute continuance requests.
.
.
.
Caughman's attorney, Evan Hoffman, said the 19-year-old did the right thing.....

"For the sake of taking the easy way out, we're not going to break any laws," Hoffman said. "We're steadfast on Charles' innocence. Charles is a pawn that the state has been trying to use to get the top dog in this case, which is Sean. The state pursued the most severe charge possible in hopes of getting Charles to plead to a lesser charge. That didn't happen. Now that we've seen the state's cards it will be interesting to see where its case goes from here."

Hoffman is mystified about the failure of Miami-Dade police to test the alleged victims for gunpowder residue after shots were fired at Taylor's car..... Hoffman said the state has no evidence that either man possessed a weapon during the incident which began when Taylor claimed that two of his all-terrain vehicles were stolen.

Isn't Sean Taylor's father a police chief somewhere? It is hard to understand how misguided and immature he can be with such a seemingly strong father-figure/role model in his life. Maybe it's the education he got at "the U"?

Redskins' Taylor Will Be in Camp

Friday, July 22, 2005; Page E02

Redskins safety Sean Taylor will report on time for the start of training camp July 31, agent Drew Rosenhaus said. Taylor, who is facing felony assault charges in Florida, has not talked to the media in more than six months, and while the Redskins have expected him to attend camp, there had been no public assurances from him.

"Oh, yes, without a doubt," said Rosenhaus, when asked in a phone interview yesterday whether Taylor would report on time. Taylor, the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft, has switched agents several times and expressed concern with the contract he signed last summer, leading many to believe his desire for more money fueled his decision to boycott Washington's offseason program.

Taylor's legal problems -- he is charged with striking individuals in Miami and pulling a gun on them -- did not bode well for a renegotiation, and Rosenhaus said that a new contract is "not really an issue" at this point. Taylor showed signs of being a star player during his rookie season but also incurred numerous fines for his overly aggressive play and was suspended for one game after DUI charges. He later was acquitted.

His trial in Miami is set to start Sept. 12, but his lawyer plans to file motions to have the date moved until after the season. . . .

Linebacker Mike Barrow , who was granted permission to pursue a trade, had not renegotiated his contract as of yesterday, league sources said. Barrow, battling serious knee problems and with an uncertain future, is to earn $1.74 million in base salary this season. A trade seems unlikely, and should Barrow not restructure his deal several NFL sources said they expect him to be released. . . .

A local lawyer has sent registered letters to the four biggest TV stations in Washington, serving notice that he and several Indian and civil rights groups intend to challenge their broadcast licenses if they do not curtail the use of the word "Redskin" in news and sports reports. John Banzhaf , who teaches law at George Washington University and has been campaigning against the use of the word for decades, cited a court decision last week allowing the Redskins trademark to be challenged. None of the local licenses come up for review until 2007.

Representatives from several local stations said their legal departments had yet to receive the letter and had no further comment.

So before the ATV drama, Drew said that the contract wasn't really an issue? So what explains his abscence?

Will Gibbs have metal detectors at camp? I hope someone at least pats the guy down before they let him in.

This is, however, good news for the team in my opinion. Taylor's a stud. My 2 cents

Well I expected it. If the murder of Ravens(which is what you call a group of Ravens, a murder) players can play the season after being charged with various things, it only seems fit for Taylor to be at camp and play this season.

Taylor and Clinton Portis talked about how Sean was having a very hard time processing and adjusting to life in the NFL, and that he was in Miami (in part) just to cool off and decompress.

I say whatever, get your butt where it belongs.

I'm still not happy that he didn't return Gibbs' phone calls, that he had to be excused from mandatory workouts, and that he didn't attend the voluntary workouts. If he gets his act together this offseason will have little impact on his career as a whole, but I think that we have yet to see any positive moves from Sean--whether he's in camp or not.

Taylor update: He will report to camp!

LaVar Arrington hopes to "restore" his relationship with the organization and resolve a lingering grievance.
Sean Taylor decides against taking a plea bargain on felony assault charges.
Joe Gibbs decided against retaining Larry Hill, who was hired before last season as a full-time replay official.
Carlos Rogers has a fractured foot, putting his status for the start of training camp in doubt.
Police investigate the shooting of a security guard at a rented mansion of LaVar Arrington.
