The offensive line was TERRIBLE last season. It is absurd to think that it will automatically get better as our already old players get older. Jansen, by the way, is not an excellent tackle anymore. At this point he is below average and has no business being a starter in the NFL. Go back and watch how badly he got abused in pass protection last season. It was an embarrassment. I really do love posts like this that proclaim that the o-line will miraculously get better despite only one change being made, and that to a part of the line that wasn't really a problem.
I'm SORRY BUT THIS STATEMENT IS SIMPLE NOT TRUE!!!!!!
The OL was playing like on of the best in the league for the better part of the first 8 games. They played poorly down the road, but that could be blame on injuries to the OL, to CP, and to Moss. Also, JC's inability to read defenses pre-snap and slow decision making were responsible for AT LEAST every third sack last year.
However, I do have to give him credit for getting out of a good amount of sacks, but that wasn't as many as he caused.
The OL IS NOT as bad as a lot of fan made it out to be. The cards went to the SB with one of the worst OLs in football, far worst than ours. They had the worst run game in the NFL #32 overall. Yes, I know they throw the ball a lot, but that is almost a by product of them not being productive in the run game as having three stud WR and a QB that knows how to avoid taking a sack!
We aren't talking about run blocking. There is no way to avoid a sack when a LB comes unblocked, or two in the case of the steelers game, unless you plan to throw a short pass. Zorn wants moss to get deep, but we have no time in which to do so. Neither Moss or El can get off press coverage, and therefore are not reliable short targets.

ey has to block in those situations where they stack lb's, so there is nothing they can do.

Look, as much as I like them Scouts Inc. is just one perspective. There are veteran player evaluators who would have different ratings. There's 32 teams with professional scouts with 32 different draft boards. Who cares exactly where Scouts Inc. put who? Meredith and Barnes were both projected 3rd round, so who cares what the points were?
I could not agree more. Everybody gets so caught up in Kiper's picks or Scouts Inc. players ratings....there is a reason why every year by the end of the first round they are all left looking foolish. The idea that a single ranking of players can apply evenly to all 32 teams is ludicrous. There are so many different systems, coaching styles, locker room needs, etc. If the Redskins constantly draft by need, they will be doomed to mediocracy. Picking up some depth at CB and potentially a future star and LEADER is a good move. How does anyone know that the Skins F.O. doesn't have a great prospect and a great fit for the team at OT lined up for the next round?????? Should we have just taken him two rounds early just because he happens to be the best availabe at a position of need???? Even if we can wait and still get him in the later rounds?? Should we have Taken Devin Thomas 21 overall last year even though we could get him middle of the second round?

I do think we still have a lot of skill on OL. What we need is to start working some YOUTH in, not take a chain saw to them. I really think if we could get a couple good young OL's to play significant minutes then our OL would be fine. Dockery helps, but he's one guy who's not that young, not enough. The other thing with the vets is they can go in and out more without losing the flow of the game. I'm not disagreeing with you, just commenting on the OL.

I wouldn't be upset at all if we drafted Brian Hoyer. Jaws just did a highlight package on him, seems like a perfect WCO QB.

Barnes isn't going to be a star. Their were OT's better than him at that pick. We need OT's. The other 31 teams don't conspire with dan snyder to let him know they won't draft 3rd round quality OT's, so that he can get them in the 5th. Kiper and Scouts Inc communicate with teams when they make these rankings, so when you see a reach, it means that one particular team is gambling on upside or stupid. It doesn't mean they see things others don't.

Ok, should have a shot at Meredith or Cadogan, somehow. Probably will take a Corner though.

WE are going to pick up Marcus Freeman OLB from Ohio St. He is big value here. I like this kid.

Meredith is still there with the Ravens picking, he's fallen two rounds, I wonder why. I don't think it's a lock we take him, maybe there's something NFL teams don't like.

Duke Robinson is still available. He was suppose to be the best OG in the draft. I want him or Brinkley the LB

we traded back for the sake of trading back.... The problem is not that we decided to trade back because no one was there that we could take. Vinnie said we were going to trade back before the day started. That means he did it regardless of who was available.
And the vikings take someone we should have in Jasper Brinkley-LB South Carolina

No one has faith in the front office (I honestly think they've done a good job since Vinny took over) but maybe they have scouted these guys and don't have high grades for Meredith, Robinson or Freeman? I trust the scouts and the guys in our war room. If they didn't see a guy they wanted and thought they could pick up more selections later on in the draft I'm happy.
What did we get anyway?

That is just ridiculous as hell.
Because Vinny said we would try to trade down means he set his mind to do so REGARDLESS of who was available. That's nonsense.
