Thanks, that's a good explanation Riggo.
I've realized the draft is just a big lottery. The more picks, the better.
But this Rosen trump card is unusual. I'm honestly piqued about the whole thing.
Let's hope for the best!

Kinda crazy all the mock drafts have us trading for him... With or without our 1st rounder.
Is it that obvious to the outside world? Or are there insiders leaking?
A lot of folks have nyg trading up to get Lockk too... So Im stsrting to see that prospect fade away

I saw this crazy Chris Simms rotoworld mock draft today where the team takes Daniel Jones at 15. With Lock still on the board? lol. So weird.

I'll be honest. I love this time of year and the draft especially. Its a blast.

Nobody is arguing that we're "just a good QB away from a playoff team this season".
The point you're trying to make here is even worse because we literally were a good QB away from the playoffs last year. In a weak ass NFC east last year, we had a legitimate shot at making the playoffs before Alex Smith's injury.
I'm not arguing anything - I'm just reminding those that think this franchise will have chance at the playoffs this season that with Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen in charge, this franchise will average 6 - 7 wins - An 8 win season is good for these guys no matter who is coaching or playing here
the injuries were a factor last season but nothing changes the reality that is the Redskins under Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen's guidance
it would be great to get a young QB that becomes a future starting QB - I just don't have a lot of confidence in this group making good trade decisions especially with the QB

Echo echo echo.....
A good qb will definitely increase our chances at a playoff run... We saw what an ok qb did (was leading the East) last year minus Guice and some key additions. So yes, we ARE a good qb away.
FO this that etc etc over and over.. Good grief

A healthy Alex Smith would have made a big difference last season. The passing game was practically nonexistent after he went out. The team went 7-9. The division leader went 10-6. Two or three more wins would have meant making the playoffs. Smith was 6-4 when he went out. That equates to a 10-6 or 9-7 record. So, in short, you are 100% correct.

This exactly.
"We can't make the playoffs because of our FO" is just an asinine position. Our roster and coaching staff were fully capable of making the playoffs last year, especially in one of the most mediocre NFC east groups I can remember. I'm just going to ignore that guy for a while. Appreciate that there are still a few people on here who are interested in talking about football.

We have made the playoffs with this FO so even that is an invalid argument. I've reached my limit of reading posts that contribute nothing to the discussion.

On Schefter’s podcast this morning, Redskins were not mentioned in the running for Josh Rosen. He said Giants, Dolphins and Chargers as front runners.
I know Rivers is older but I don't completely understand the Chargers being in there. That dude is still really good.

Movers and shakers week. I expect things to get extra spicy.
Draft week! A small oasis in the pitiful desert between February and September.

Smoke an mirrors.. No one knows unti it official. Plenty of cat and mouse to be played- this could be trying to keep it on the d low how intetested we are.. Them building the bidding war... Or completely accurate. Take your pick- and it will change before its all said and done

Schefter doesn't have Shanahan to feed him information on the Redskins. You know Bruce Allen isn't giving Schefter (or anyone else) anything. Even if the Redskins were in on Rosen Shefter wouldn't know from the front office. I've heard everything from the Giants are sold on Lock to the Jets are trading the #3 pick to a team (the Giants) has Daniel Jones as their @1 QB. There's a ridiculous amount of misinformation circulating this time of year.

Well SD does have a really late first rounder. I guess if they wanted to prepare for life after Rivers its not the worst trade in the world. But yeah you're probably right about the smoke and mirrors. The Cards are out there today talking about taking Quinnen Williams #1.

I sure hope this Kyler Murray thing is smoke. But I can't help wondering why we just didn't bite the bullitt and trade for Josh Rosen on a rookie QB deal who is the best QB in this whole deal. We are so worried about giving up too much for him when all we have ever done is waste picks on players that never panned out. Yes Rosen would have been expensive maybe a 1st rounder and maybe a 3rd next year let's say as the worst trade scenario for the Redskins. So What!! We would have a real good QB finally.
Now we are going to gamble on a QB with the same pick we could have used to trade for the real thing. If Josh Rosen would have come to the Redskins and lead us to multiple playoff births and maybe even the the grand prize because he is good enough then what ever draft picks we had to give up to get him would be worth it. It's not like we couldn't do our homework and find a quality pass rusher or Guard or receiver later in the draft after we secure the most important position with a player of high quality like Rosen
He not only helps the offense but helps keep the defense off the field as well. We could have made the Cardinals an offer they couldn't refuse on a great QB and the most important position in football and we are being stingy with the 15th pick. Unbelievable!!!!
Anyone who thinks we are going to get a player who would make more of a difference to this team than Rosen with the 15th pick is Bruce Allen in the flesh. I would have loved to get the best pass rusher or OL or TE with the 15th pick but we have mucked this whole thing up so bad with Alex Smith Kirk Cousins and countless others that we don't have that luxury anymore. We have or had a chance to dig ourselves out of this hell hole with a great QB like Rosen by just giving a 1st round pick for him and we can't even figure that out. If they draft Haskins they are sure enough some no drafting bozos
Please say we are not out on Rosen. I wish we could have another Sonny Jurgensen again. Sonny i kneel in the long shadow of your excellence.
Hod Hamnit Dan hire me as the GM and I guarantee I will get us the talent to get in the Super Bowl. HAIL !!! to the HOGS

Yes, that would seem the most logical thing.
But I fear the Cards will push too hard to see who offers the most for Rosen.
I'm not sure we have the ammunition to make the deal happen. Or even the will power, honestly.

Colt McCoy is looking less and less like an option:
Colt McCoy underwent a third procedure on his broken leg.
According to coach Jay Gruden, McCoy suffered a setback because he and the team were too "aggressive" in their attempts to get him back on the field late last season. "We didn’t give it time enough to heal the right way," Gruden said, "so they went back in and did a small procedure to make sure that thing is on track to be full strength by the season." McCoy reportedly could be back with the team next week, but this is beginning to look like an injury that will linger.

They can push right up until Thursday night 8pm. Bottom line for the Cardinals is that if they're taking Murray they have to move Rosen. If Murray is the #1 pick, it's just a game of chicken going on right now to see which team is going to blink.
Bummer about Colt's setback, but honestly if the plan is for him to be our starting QB this September, I'll puke. At least throw Keenum out there for the novelty of it... lol.

Lol Sonny9td.... Draft hasnt even stsrted yet.
I think Rosen hasnt proved much more (if any) over the top prospects though. I actually enjoyed watching Haskins, he was a beast last year! All of these kids are a gamble tho, and yes there is a possibility Az wants to much to pay. Im ok with passing on him if the bidding war goes nuts. If thats the case trade up for Lock- extra year on rookie deal

There is one other QB we might get away with if we decide to get one in the 3rd or 5th. Jason Stidham. You want a QB with tremendous arm strength and touch. Check out this review. He could be the sleeper of this years QB class. I will say this. If he can't read a defense or has happy feet or stares down his receivers he is not going to make it.
Stidham “lacks elite size,” Jeremiah writes, but is tall enough and has tremendous arm strength.
“I was quite impressed after watching him spin it at the Elite 11 camp a few weeks ago,” Jeremiah writes. “The 21-year-old is very accurate in the quick game and shows the ability to change ball speed. He really excels throwing the deep ball coming off play action, and he does a good job using the width of the field to give guys plenty of room to run under the ball.

Yea, for a year or two, until teams adjusted. Screw that. Give me a prototypical NFL quarterback.
