Wow...so everyone is to blame EXCEPT Israel. Well according to John Bolton (U.S. Ambassador) that is not the case.
Bolton said, "As we've always contemplated, the disarming of Hezbollah, which was not specifically addressed in 1701, would have to be addressed, and that should be coming shortly."

1701 references 1559, which calls explicitly for Hisbollah to disarm. 1701 calls for an arms embargo against Hizbollah. Iran & Syria are in violation of this. Turkey intercepted weapons on their way to Hizbollah.

If this is the case...then yes I agree. Israel has a right do defend itself. However, there is no proof of this and I do not believe a word that one side says over the other. Remember the...WMD in Iraq?

But you accepted without question Hizbollah claims about casualties? Many of these were quickly found to be lies, something you didn't see covered much in the liberal press.

About 900 Lebanesse died according to published reports and that is fact not some number Hezbollah claimed. Just looking at the destruction Israeli left in its reign of Lebannon it looks clear to me that they didn't care who they killed. But that is besides the point.

The main point now is that there is a ceasefire and relative calm. But yet fighting is being invoked by Israel. What they need to do is leave and stop inciting more crime. I'm not making this stuff up or speculating. I'm justing posting articles.

Check your previous stance you have no land therefore no borders. You've beat down Isreal for weeks in this thread now that the shoe is on the other bonbers foot you want what you debated wasn't theirs. So with no borders to retreat to what would you do. Would you stay in place and defend what you have held onto? Would you launch attacks to prevent your enemies from rearmiing and getting stronger?

dnpmakkah wrote:I would make public all my nuclear weapons program so the whole world could see. I would do this because I would want to be fair and it wouldn't feel right to be the ONLY nation in the Middle East to have WMD's but then at the same time nag about others having it.

For you to make this comment would mean that it's a KNOWN fact already out there so again what would you do (this time since you mentioned it -being the only Nuke power in the region fight a surrogate war against the new guy on the nuclear block). Would you bomb them back to where you bombed them to last time, considering at one point you had peace with your current combatants. If they are rolling the clock back why shouldn't you (being Isreal be able to set the time, right?)

Again you are referencing a place that you say isn't (a Isreali Homeland -that isn't disputed by someone/somewhere) ANd this as to be the first time I've seen you refer to them as a nation (is that because I put you in thier shoe :?: )

dnpmakkah wrote:Then I work out a peace agreement with my neighbors rather than dictate rule by force on them. For those that say you can't negotiate with terrorist I would tell them look at Jordan and Egypt. We considered them enemies but we have managed to make somewhat peace with them.

Jordan and Egypt are actually Nations to be negoiated with and you see the outcome, Syria and Isreal don't like each other but they aren't fighting. Isreal without your help seems to have peace with it's neighbors that have legitimacy, I ask you to put youself in the shoes once, and you give Isreal "Nation Status", a homeland and a right to not only bear arm but produce WMD as long as everyone knows about it. You admit they've made piece with Nation that they had warred with in the past....

Now I remember why I left this thread alone and hoped it would die

1) Who is your source for Lebanese casualties? Who is their source? The President of Lebanon said that 40 people had been killed by an Israeli air raid. The real number turned out to be 1.

2) Of the Lebanese casualities, what % were really non combatants? How are non combatants defined?

3) Clear to you? Are you an expert in military matters? What about altered photos? Were civilians forced to stay in military targets?

The fact that you are posting articles doesn't mean that you're not speculating. Published articles are frequently speculative or worse.

You can find published reports saying that the CIA or Mossad were responsible for 9/11, in fact the Presbterian Church USA just published a book blaming the Bush administration.

You are so biased against both the US & Israel that you might have lost touch with reality.

Speaking of this.

1. What is your stance on Iran and it's nuclear program?
2. What do you think of the U.S. as well as Israel and it's nuclear program?

Italy, which had signaled willingness to take on a major role in the peacekeeping mission, threatened Tuesday to withhold troops if Israel doesn't respect the cease-fire.

Israel has clashed with Hezbollah several times since the truce was declared, claiming it was acting in self-defense. Israeli aircraft also have flown over Lebanon.

The Lebanese government has condemned the Israeli blockade, saying it violates the U.N. cease-fire resolution, and the Lebanese foreign minister Tuesday called on the international community to force Israel to end it. The Cabinet met Monday and called the siege one of Israel's "terrorist practices."

Israel has arrested (arrested or kidnapped?) 30 Hamas lawmakers and five Cabinet ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister Nasser Shaer, in recent weeks.

"I left my wife and my 10-year-old son and risked my life to get the kidnapped soldiers back, to push back Hezbollah and to stop Katyushas (rockets)," said one of the protesters, 32-year-old reserve infantry soldier Reuven Sharon. "Nothing of that happened. Now I want the government to take responsibility for it. They need to say, 'We're sorry, we didn't succeed, we're going home."

Nice to see the French making such a strong commitment to the peace "keeping" force. They seem to have a problem with the rules of engagement - didn't they help to write them?

I'm sure the Italians will send more troops in, once the Lebanese agree to put up a large number of warning signs on the roads "Beware - military vehicles reversing in road, at high speed".

Always nice to get a couple of cheap shots in.

Even that won't be enough to get the French in.

Maybe not. Perhaps we can all this end this rather fractious thread by uniting in a bit of Euro bashing? I find it really helps me to relax. Doesn't have to be anything intellectual and well reasoned - just good old fashioned prejudice and stereotyping will do.

No, the do-gooders would probably want us all to form a circle to sing songs, in the hope of pacifying the aliens.
