You guys are awfully picky... Considering the two of them have won superbowls, and arguably Top 5 QB's. [sarcasm]But Redskin fans are used to top tier QB play, it's just an every year occurrence here.[/sarcasm]

Odds I just saw from Vegas:

New York Jets +200 2/1 bet $100 to win $200
Miami Dolphins +300 3/1 bet $100 to win $300
Washington Redskins +400 4/1 bet $100 to win $400
Seattle Seahawks +500 5/1 bet $100 to win $500
Arizona Cardinals +600 6/1 bet $100 to win $600
Baltimore Ravens +700 7/1 bet $100 to win $700
Houston Texans +900 9/1 bet $100 to win $900
San Francisco 49ers +1000 10/1 bet $100 to win $1000
Field (any team not listed) +100 1/1 bet $100 to win $100

The even money favorite is The Field which includes the Colts. I wonder about the Cowboys.

Why would the field be even money, but they are giving odds on what have to be the favorites?

Baisc math. Even in his prime Tiger was (of course) the favorite ... but not even money or better. Someone from the field is much more likely to win than the single best golfer in the world.

Chiefs: 7.5% ($100 wins $800)
Retire: 6% ($100 wins $1,000)

Texans: 4% ($100 wins $1,500)
49ers: 3% ($100 wins $2,000)
Broncos: 3% ($100 wins $2,000)
Titans: 1.5% ($100 wins $4,000)
Team Not Listed: 11% ($100 wins $500)

Changes since opening odds . . .
$100 on retiring started off paying only $250, now paying $1,000.
$100 on Cardinals started off paying $2,500, now pays only $250.
$100 on Chiefs started off paying $5,000, now pays only $800.

I still like the Jets and the Chiefs. Jets might qualify as "one QB away," they have a good D, they have a good running game, they have pretty good WRs, and their OC is Manning's old OC.

This post contradicts your response above. Only the three favorites have smaller odds than the rest of the field.

PER PFT & ESPN980's CHRIS RUSSELL - PEYTON MANNING HAS INFORMED TEAM HE DOESN'T WANT TO COME HERE

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/08/report-manning-doesnt-want-to-play-for-the-redskins/

“A couple of different sources inside the organization have told me that Manning’s camp made it pretty clear to Redskins officials he doesn’t want to come here,” said Russell. “… There’s lots of reasons for that. His brother Eli, the colder weather, the whole situation down in Miami and so on and so forth. But unless that changes — and I’m taking my sources at their word — I don’t think Manning’s coming here to D.C.”

As this story unfolds, another point that I made which was hated on, but has proven true is that Manning likely does not want to play in a Division where he or his brother will essentially be in position to keep the other out of the playoffs.

Manning going to the AFC makes most sense. I stand by my belief that the Jets are the best fit. Having the Manning's playing in the same City & in the Same Arena with the marketing money that could be generated from that makes it appealing. Add in the fact that Tom Moore was recently there this past season and was the architect of Peyton's offense, and you have strong business and football reasons why NYJ make sense.

I hate to point out when I'm right. But, the outright hate on this site makes it necessary. To those who know who they are, I know you hate this, but you're welcome anyway.

Probably that he's 300lbs but talks like a high school girl. He also tries to talk X's and O's a lot, and sounds a little clueless.

Peyton Manning is NOT playing in B&G this season - because this FO does not want to go in that direction

That won't be an issue until there is something a bit more... um... substantial... than Chris Russell... while I have no doubt about this eventual out come (Manning was NEVER coming here), Chris Russell is, essentially, building a case to prove he's a genius... "see? I told you that Manning would not be a Redskin"...

Ummm... Chris?? DUH! =;

Of course, it will come to pass... but, if it's Miami, it only helps the Redskins. When Cleveland signs a certain, un-named Green Bay back-up, [-o< the leverage passes more to the 'skins.

Chris Russell is a twit. But the part about the report that catches my eye is that Manning informed the Skins. If this is true, that's more than a hunch. As the dominos fall with Flynn and Manning, price should come down. But I suspect Flynn goes to Miami and Peyton to NYJ leaving us competing with Cleveland.

I still think Miami is the favorite for Manning. Everything being reported this afternoon seems to point to Miami and Denver as the top two possibilities. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

I feel like today is full of potentially bad news. If the Browns really are "all in" on RGIII and Peyton Manning definitely isn't coming to DC, aren't we looking at our worst case scenario?

Maybe its not too late to offer four #1s to the Colts for Luck?? :)

The Rams might blink before that may happen. I've got to say, if I were The Browns I'd take Flynn in FA, Trent Richardson at #4 and maybe a WR or OL at #22. That's a major upgrade of their offense.

If the Rams see the same logic I do then they may want to cut a deal with Snyder before Flynn finds a home, if you get me.

I never believe the heaviest rumors when it comes to the draft and free agency. So much of the story relies on "sources" usually agents, and FO people who are generally in the business of using deception as a means to attain their target. Accordingly, I'm not convinced that Cleveland wants RG3 that badly, or that Peyton is going to Miami.

Of course, none of us knows right now. But, Peyton in NYJ uniform seems like the best move. I'm not sold that the "Miami" vibe is enough to sway a guy like Peyton.

With Philbin in Miami, I'd expect Flynn to be the shoe-in. Nonetheless, it would be a good scenario for the Redskins if Manning does go to Miami and Flynn to Cleveland. That would leave us in competition with--Seattle as the team that would realistically consider trading that far up.

The Browns could also sit on their picks, take Richardson or Blackmon & Make a move for Tannenhill.

The hate came mostly from me I think, and it came on TWO things you originally said, and I NEVER disagreed with you that he wanted to come here, because I do not think it's a good fit for anyone involved.

The things I called you out on was when you said Tom Moore was STILL with the Jets which he is not, and this is the first post you confirm that you were WRONG. Secondly you claim that there was a family brand that he didn't want to impede on, and let's wait to hear it from the horses mouth. I don't see how he gives two craps about his brothers whereabouts, because they are both established, and would actually would work in the family's and NFL's advantage to be able to market the two of them playing against each other twice a year.

You have a good memory. On the Tom Moore thing, you're right. His contract ran through this past season, so technically he's no longer with the Jets. However, from what I hear, that was by design. Right now, no team officials can see Peyton workout or throw. Tom Moore can. As a result, the Jets can have an affiliate of theirs who has had access to Manning this whole time. If Peyton chooses the Jets, Tom Moore will be right back with the team as an Offensive Consultant--basically helping Sparano implement large amounts of the offense Peyton ran in Indy. The big part are the line calls. The plays in the NFL are similar by system, but Peyton did most of his work pre-snap.

As for the Manning Brand. I stand by that. I don't think they want to be in a position where they are forced to inhibit the success of the other, until potentially the Super Bowl. Marshall Faulk even took it a step further on NFL Total Access and said that he knew that Archie steered Eli to the Giants because he wanted him to be in a large market NFC team. Marshall was a Colt with Peyton and is a pretty good golfer as well. I think he knows a bit more than me, and his comments are consistent with my point that the Manning family is a very astute business-minded family. It wouldn't make great sense for only one of them to have the chance to reach the playoffs each year.

Nice to hear someone in here actually say the R word

We'll see on the family brand thing, but the example you use with Marshall Faulk (who is a joke anyway) doesn't really address my point. They are established now. This took place before he was established. Anyway, that's all I'm going to comment about it. I don't think he's coming here, nor do I want him to come here. DUH - MAYBE because this franchise does NOT tend to throw a ton of dough at free agents anymore

OR

maybe because this franchise's FO (which does NOT include D Snyder anymore) is interested but not as badly as some others

OR

maybe because Peyton's advisers can see better opportunities elsewhere

almost ANY franchise would be better at QB with Manning - we are going in a different direction and Peyton's people don't need any more suitors - there are enough out there already without using the Redskins

The Redskins are no longer under the control of Dumb & Dumber anymore

Here's the problem with this line of thinking.

The Redskins have allowed it to be known that they are "Very interested" in Manning. This means that there will be a perception that the Redskins are willing to open the pocketbook one more time. Sure, dumb and dumber may be out of the driver's seat, but it is also known that the Danny WILL make it rain, if he is asked to do so. No way Manning gives up the leverage he gets from that knowledge... even if he has no interest himself.

The bottom line is, Manning and his agents are smart enough to know that you keep Snyder's money in the mix, as you go fishing for contracts elsewhere.
