- Did not expect to play. He "has lowered his expectations" about playing.

- Confused about apparent "need for improvement" without being allowed to prove it via playing time.

- Wants to see Warrick do well, in the spirit of a teamate and a friend. Not chasing after his spot. Won't "rock the boat".

- Doesn't see why he should "run after [the coaches" to ask for playing time.

- Asked if he's having difficulty with learning plays and following directions:

"People with higher intelligence levels feel that way." He feels that he answers questions correctly in meetings.

Doesn't buy that "he's too dumb to learn a defensive scheme".

- If Gregg says he needs to prove things in practice, "then practice me."

- Doesn't like having his name dragged through the mud. Wants people to come clean and say the REAL reason they (the coaches) don't wanna play him.

- Thinks defense is playing well.

ON "CONVERSATION" WITH JOE:

- Joe approached Lavar and were speaking on a personal level. Just talking. Thought it was strange that it was made public news. "People trying to keep some gossip goin' on." Disappointed about that overshadowing team's good start. Nothing more than conversation.

- If Danny Smith wants him to play Special Teams, he's willing to do whatever. All he wants to do is play, and he "still wants to be a leader on this team", in whatever facet of the game.

- "I wanna go out there and hit somebody."

- Sequence of 6, 4, 2, 0 plays signifies that things aren't going well. Commented on Dan Daly's column about Lavar been made inactive. "I haven't been put on inactive list yet. I don't know if that's the way they'll go."

ON HEALTH

- As healthy as he was before the knee injury. He's been like that for weeks.

- Doesn't know how he went from being a starter, to getting injured, and no longer being a starter. Says no one outplayed him before he got injured. Never heard about playing outta position until after he was injured.

- Frustration in his voice, today, is due to his many errands done today, not physically tired (as in playing). (Laughs)

- Has a passion for community and this team. This situation is tough to deal with. As long as teammates know how hard he's trying to get back (though he doesn't know what to do to earn PT), he's good.

- Doesn't know how to handle situation, since the season is still young. Kinda torn about it, and doesn't know what to expect. Hearing suport on radio shows "gets him through".

- Not content about collecting a check, which is what he feels is what he's been relegated to.

- "The truth is somewhere out there", about why he isn't playing. He can handle being told WHY he isn't playing, but not being told is hard to handle.

The coaches are in trouble of losing Lavar. This interview sounds like he is getting very frustrated. He sounds like he is not anymore sure of his status then we are. This is not good. The coaches need to be communicating with this man. Damn! I am getting frustrated at the sound of this interview. He gets more info from the fans and the media than his coaches.
When asked if he thinks he will be on another team, Lavar says, "I don't know." He deserves to know something.

And on that note, I believe Lavar is punching his ticket outta Washington, folks. I just can't see him earning Gibbs' and/or Williams' trust by publicly airing out his dirty laundry. Granted, he has the right to speak out, but Lavar hasn't figured out whether he OUGHT to speak out. He's on a team for a coach that is so tight-lipped about everything. I can't see whay he continues to play to the fans by revealing too much info. My 2 cents

This is starting to look like they are not going to play this guy and that they want the controversy to continue. Reason being, the team is allowing him to come on J.T.'s show every week and talk about this situation.

This is taking a turn for the ugly and it is going to cause somebody, either Lavar or the coaching staff at some point, to really sound off in the media about the truth of what's going on. If they intend on playing him, then tell him to shut-up on J.T.'s show about this situation. Then again, maybe it's their way of letting him embarass himself by going on the show and talking about it. Right now, he is sounding pretty pathetic and that may be what they want.

Why is it that Lavar will come on the radio and talk how confused he is about this and he doesn't know why and yet when the coaches are asked, they won't tell the truth? A Pro Bowl player that can't even play on Special Teams? Come on, maing!!!!

When asked if he thinks he will be on another team, Lavar says, "I don't know." He deserves to know something.

Take it from me, man. Lavar uses "I don't know" a lot in all his interviews. When asked about the teams woes last year, guess what he would say...

"I don't know."

This is starting to look like they are not going to play this guy and that they want the controversy to continue. Reason being, the team is allowing him to come on J.T.'s show every week and talk about this situation.

It is ludicrous to believe that the team wants this to continue. Lavar is the one being paid to make these appearances (not by the team), and he chooses to divulge info that should be kept in house. If anyone is feeding the beast, it's "THE BEAST" himself, Lavar. My 2 cents

I don't think this will end well.

Unfortunately both players and coaches have "egos". The only ego that can control though is the coach.

This seems like GW riding his wave of praise just a little too high. Look, GW you are a great coach, but a really great coach would know how to get production out of a guy as talented as Lavar Arrington.

It is just plain embarrising that other teams deal with the same issues every year, but we find a way to make a joke out of it. Sure Lavar may not be here next year, we will likely trade or cut him, but why not get our 12 million dollars worth now?

Just smells of ego centrism. GW is sounding more and more like a hypocrite. He calls Sean Taylor his 'favorite player" (he is mine too) but Taylor has gambled and relied on his athleticism in critical situations as well but he makes up for it just like Lavar does. The Post had a great quote from GW last year where he said that "obviously I am a better coach when Lavar is out there...wha happened?".

Lavar was our started last year at the beginning of the year. He had the so-called "free lancing reputation then" but all was well in Mayberry. He also put up beast like numbers in the system. 15 tackles, Int and 2 sacks in 3 games (including the game saving sack against Tampa)...did he all of a sudden get stupid??

Lavar would probably be better served by at least being eased into the defense slowly. He is better than every one of our linebackers with the exception of Marcus Washington. Its a cold day in Cuba when you have Holdman and Chris Clemons out there and Lavar deteriorating on the bench.

Lets not forget that Lavar...

1. Lied on Joe Gibbs and the entire coaching staff
2. Held the team accountable for a "mistake" that his agent should have caught if he was worth the money he's being paid.

How quickly we forget.

Im tired of hearing about Lavar, how about Lavar step his game up and beat Holdman out for the job. Nobody deserves to be given a job.

Yeah how quickly we forget that the NFL is a business and not a relationship. While these things may be factors that would lead to him being released or traded, the reality is he is a 12 million dollar investment right now that is sitting on the bench. That's like buying 25 Bentley's in one year and not driving a single one of them   and to top it all off telling the public that your Bentley's don't handle the road as good as your Honda Civic.

While I agree Lavar is probably not a good fit for this team anymore, there is simply no argument for not using him at all, even if it is in a limited capacity. I think that is all that anyone is saying, especially when Holdman is a virtual non-factor.

Oh, and how quickly we forget that Lavar was Greg William's starter last season and was even put back out there before he was 100 percent. How quickly we forget that GW said that Lavar made him a better coach, and now all we hear is about his free-lancing.

How quickly we forget Lavar being one of the only brightspots on a bad team, and now not even contributing on a good one. While I don't disagree he may be outta here, I do disagree that we don't need to get our money's worth.

I'm pretty positive that most corporations would terminate someone immediately for a lot less than what Lavar does/says on a weekly basis. Lavar knows he has the team by the horns, since they take a huge hit if they trade him.

Complain all you want, Lavar. It ain't gonna change the fact that you're developing a callous the size of your ego on your behind.

You may very well be right. The coaches do reserve the right to tell him that when he goes on J.T.'s show that he should not discuss this. Whether he listens or not is his choice but I am sure that if they did go to Lavar and told him that he would come on the air and tell J.T. that.

This situation is just another botch-job by the coaching staff. Lavar is a grown-azz man and if GW or Gibbs comes out and says, "Lavar just does not fit into our plans" or "Lavar just does not get our schemes" then he is grown enough to except and life would go on and this issue would be squashed. But to have a guy that has three Pro Bowls under his belt sitting on the bench is ridiculous....

While I would agree with you here, I would also say that Greg William's ego is swelling by the second too. Either way it seems like something very petty that two less ego centric men could overcome.

If you have a leaky faucet, what happens if you ignore it? Obviously it gets, friggin, worse. I don't care if this problem was created by Lavar, the coaches, the media, or the fans. It is a leaky faucet, to say the least. It damn well needs to be fixed before it gets worse.

It doesn't matter who is right or wrong anymore. Lavar can't afford to be left out in the dog house anymore than I could be told to show up for work, but not know where work was. The coaches can't afford to let this create a dysfuncional locker room.

Something definitive needs to be done and quick.

I have some suggestions.
1) Give #56 a definite number of plays he will be on the field for this Sunday.
a) DE position on passing downs
b) A shadow role on a back coming out of the backfield, or a rushing quarterback in certain game situations.

2) Deactivate him

3) I like this one the best

I was just watching an NFL Films interview w/ John Riggins, and it was awesome by the way. The Redskins wouldn't even take the field until "The Diesel" got a B-Vitamin shot in the ass before the game. He would get it, get fired up and take the field. Riggins was made the center of attention and the team fed off of his fire. He had the color personality to inspire his team and so does Lavar.

So give him a shot of something in the ass and let this mother loose!

I agree we need to get our moneys worth out of him but not to the detriment of this team. We've waived the dollars around too much to what avail? Team 1st, money 2nd.

If Lavar was not 100% then why did he see he was ready? Why did he say that nobody was rushing him along during last season? Why would he all of a sudden about face during the preseason and turn on the coaching staff? I wouldn't have too much faith in someone who'd turn on me in a second also. I believe it was due to his money situation and thats really selfish.

I think your assessment about Williams is unfair, not only to Williams, but to the unit, as a whole. Williams is being oaid to put the squad that he best sees fit to run his schemes. Last year, he paid dividends for this team, while Lavar's injury and whining got us squat. If anyone is believing his own hype too much, it's #56, who thinks that he can just come back in and "catch up".

The other guys on the team have battled and clawed there way to "earn" a spot on THIS unit (not george Edwards', or Marvin Lewis', for that matter), and it would be unfair to tell a Warrick Holdman, "um, the guy you replaced, who hasn't played in over a year, is healthy again, so you got to step." That's just wrong.

And since when is Lavar "above" reaching out to his coaches? Sure he's paid well, and he's been to 3 Pro Bowls (while are team has completely stunk), but shouldn't he express to his coaches what he expresses to thousands over the air on MOndays/Tuesdays? Or does he also expect a bonus for those "meetings"?

Gregg has done his job, and, while the question still lingers as to why Lavar isn't allowed to do his, he's paid off more handsomely than Lavar has in his brief tenure.

Lavar actually had the gall to gloat about the hit on Mike Vick...in a preseason game. There offense then was so vanilla, it shouldn't even be considered a point of merit, IMO.

There you go. Sean Taylor is a freak just like Lavar and he has made mistakes this season but no one talks about that. I don't see anything special that Taylor has done that is so different from before besides change his number. I just don't understand why you have two ball-hawkin' freaks (Taylor and Arrington) in your stable and you only play one of them. Put Lavar in as DE, where he belongs, and go from their. He can't do any worse than what the DEs are doing now. Once again, if Holdman is so much better than Lavar to be starting ahead of him, then put Lavar at DE and Holdman and the other LBs should be able to pick up the slack. Tatum Bell shook the DE out of his boots and there was no LB to be found to back him up. I am not saying Lavar would have made the play because on a slick field the advantage goes to the offense but where were the LBs???

Start him at DE and if he doesn't produce in the next 3 or 4 games then use him at spurts or use him some other way.

Lavar Arrington is not the only player who wants money. In fact players have agents for those reasons. I think Lavar is getting way too much credit here. Trust me, he isn't negotiating his contract with Cerrato and Snyder, his agent is.

Lavar may have diarreah of the mouth but c'mon, man. Why not make a decisoin to suspend him, or fine him. Noo, we have to paraade him out there in his uniform like he is in a Chunky Soup commercial and then not put him on the field.

That is less just plain weak.

I just think that Lavar has something to contribute. Maybe you all think he got 'terrible' all of a sudden. I don't. He was good enough to start over Lemar Marshall (our starting MLB now) last year in "the system", now he can't even see the field???

Give me a break. All of you all would be salivating if Lavar played for say the Titans, and they were thinking about cutting him. All of you all would make 100 thousand threads about why we should pick him up....he would give the pass rush we desperately need, he would team up with Sean Taylor...blah blah blah...don't deny it....same people were crying for Courtney Brown this offseason...now Everyone Hates Lavar...this is becoming a circus.

I don't buy that Redeemed GW uses so many players it's hard to figure out who the starters are?? Your telling me he can't use a player like Lavar in some packages??? There's much we don't know about!

It boils down to numbers, man, in every sense of the word. This is like the Ramsey situation. Why wouldn't we trade him to the Jets?? Because we need a serviceable backup, in case "THE MAN" goes down due to injury. Lavar still remains an able body, and if need be he will be called upon to play for this team.

IN the coaches' opinions, he's not the best at running this scheme. Hopefully, in between pouring his heart out on the air, he's studying harrrrrrd to be ready when called upon. If the man gets to play and he looks rusty, or reverts to his freelancing ways, than all of his complaining will have been for naught, other than for a paycheck, of course.

Are you serious? That's just wrong? Whether you feel that the decision to put a player on the field is disrespectful or unjust [to Holdman], it would be a decision made to help the team improve on defense. Holdman directly contributed to Bell getting into the endzone on one of those TD runs because he didnt shed a block. This is a competitive business and if you can't perform as well as the next guy, then you deserve to be 2nd string.

Obviously, I didn't intend for this to be taken seriously, and I am just using it to show how ridiculous and silly this situation is becoming. It is laughable to say the least.

And if the coaches aren't going to play him, deactivate him. Damn! It is too ridiculous to have #56 on the sideline not playing, but not knowing if he will play.
