This question was posed back in November and the answer has been clear for a few weeks now - The Redskins will try and re-sign Cousins, but, more importantly, the Redskins will bring Cousins back to play QB next season

Wait. Not only are they going to re-sign Cousins, but they're going to bring him back to play QB as well?
I can see why that would be slightly more importantly.

I don't agree that he's been treated poorly by the franchise. I don't really see how they could have treated him better under the circumstances. Maybe having an open competition for the starting job this past summer, but that's not really treating him poorly. He hadn't really done anything with his previous chances to warrant better treatment.

A former Washington assistant called me yesterday during game. He said scary thing is they wasted all those first-team reps on others.

He thinks Cousins is gonna completely blow up over next two seasons. And before anyone asks: Former assistant isn't named Shanahan.

Read my mind . . .
Still, I love what he's reporting. Love it. I can't wait to see the Captain at the helm next year.

I agree.
If anything, he's gotten a hell of a chance over the past 3 years for a guy who was drafted solely as an insurance policy.
The only way that he may have felt burned (McCoy as well) was not having the open competition, but I tend to think that maybe privately it was told to each that they all had a shot to be the starter.

Maybe, maybe not…Ironic that you both disagree, but give reasons why he may have felt that way?? Don’t you find it interesting that he used the phrase “you want to be somewhere you feel wanted”. How many times over the past 3 years have we heard his name mentioned as possible trade bait? I would love to know how close the Skins actually came to trading him. I think that’s the reason for him saying that.

He's starting. Over a player who cost three 1st round draft picks and a 2nd round draft pick. He's wanted. What he wants is financial security. And he's going to have it regardless of a franchise tag or a long-term contract.

too much is being made up about this - Kirk Cousins will be playing QB here next season - whether he feels "wanted" or not is not referring to the Redskins because that is obvious - the Redskins will give him a good contract & he will sign it - I doubt they have to tag him

I understand Deadskins' point. Maybe treated "poorly" isn't the right word vs. being treated "fairly".
Kirk may understand the politics and the investment behind the decision, but that doesn't mean he had to like the way this past off season was handled. I think for any of us in our daily jobs if you're working somewhere that you're not given a chance to advance, you would naturally be wanting to be somewhere were you are "wanted".
The history might not be great, but like you guys have pointed out, he can't fault the team for not giving him a legit opportunity this season. Even if they were late to come around. I don't think its that big a deal at this point. He's got a coach who has backed him all season long and presumably the GM too.
Win this weekend, and Snyder may invite him over for New Year's dinner. lol.

Agreed, it's not going to be a big deal going forward, but there's no doubt that the owner favored the one he gave up the house for, even when it became clear that the 4 round pick was better. That's going to cost him a few more zero's come contract time.

Kirk felt like the red headed step child because he was treated as such. He was always in a position of failure and never given a true chance to succeed until this year. However, he'd be stupid to walk away from a system and coach that has gotten him to this point.

The future is all that counts here - the player is looking to get the best deal he can & the franchise is looking to their future as well
the only thing that is being looked at by either party is what is going to happen, not, what has happened ...

So great for Cousins. Really impressed by what he's done this year.
I will say though that the Eagles defense is PUTRID right now. Freaking EJ Biggers starting at CB last night? Gruden didn't even bother trying to run the ball. It was like Kirk out there playing a preseason game in the third quarter.
I hope these opportunities though give him the confidence when we're playing better defenses. The fact remains that we haven't been able to run the ball. We're going to need everything we can get from Cousins to have any shot in that playoff game.

To be fair to the above statistic, Sonny played less games per season. Having said that, this thread question has been answered. The only people saying "No" at this point are not fans of the Washington Redskins.

He's going to be playing QB here in 2016 - it's really not a question ....
there are other factors that are a lot more interesting - Kirk Cousins will be here in 2016, some other key people may not ...
this is going to be fun - I trust Scot McCloughan, the franchise MVP for 2015

Agreed. Wasn't making a point or anything, just thought that was a really cool illustration of what a great season Cousins has had.
As Skins fans, we should know better than to get too excited about anything, but damn it, I'm excited to see what he does next year.

I'm glad that his mental mistake at the end of the 1st half didn't come back to bite us. Tell you what, he will never make a similar mistake again.

We drafted and developed a franchise QB. I can't believe I'm saying that.

I've posted elsewhere, but I blame Gruden.
The clock is stopped, why would we need to spike it???
Philthy called a Time Out, so why didn't we send the kicking team on? Were we trying to get greedy, and wanting to throw one in? If that's the case, run the damn play! Why spike it?
I think Gruden being confused on wtf to do confused Kirk. It's all just a funny joke, now that Kirk came out and exploded the Fecals secondary though!!!
**I'll take this mistake over a pick 6 any day, f it, isht happens- just another story line... About this CHAMPIONSHIP team!!!!*

Idk Gruden said he should have done a quick throw to Garcon. But its not good to be greedy, easy 3 points. But maybe it was good. If we scored a field goal or a touchdown maybe the team would have let up some the next half. Instead they were determined to go for the kill!
