The Dallas Cowboys just made their first pick, LB Jason Williams.

I wonder what they saw in him because this guy was barely given a draft rating by scouts inc. They ranked him a 37. His draft profile is completely empty. I don't think our rivals have had good drafts so far.

There were even Mock Drafts leading up to yesterday with the Skins taking him at 13. Granted those are by people who might not know anything about him.

Any thoughts? I don't think he will be around at 16 in the third but would it be too much taking two DE's?

He gone..Bengals

yea, orakpo was one of 6 or 7 great players this draft. we got him at 13. We didn't need to trade a ton to get Sanchez IMO.

We're almost on the clock, I suspect we take the selection here, but Vinny promises trades later on. As he did last season I think he'll move to pick up more 5th, 6th and 7th round selections.

only one OT gone in the third, wasn't a good one. Should go OT IMO

I'd rather have a LB but I'd be fine if they took the best player on their board.

and we flew up to the podium. Kevin Barnes CB Maryland.

This may be one of those good 'ol Vinny moves, best player they had rated on their board.

did we have a problem blocking people during that 2-6 slide last year? that must have just been a bad dream.

so they must have no desire to choose based on our needs but rather a system where decisions are made with a computer in which they put data about who is the best athlete. so we end up with a CB and not an OT?

He's the guy who blew up that Cal WR last year.

He also went to Old Mill High School, which is in my county.

Come on guys, this is a good pick. Who do we have of any quality after Smoot at the CB position? Tryon?? I don't think so. He proved absoloutely nothing in the preseason last year.

You can't tell from the video, but he made the guy puke on this hit.

Kevin Barnes

Height: 6'0 1/4" / Weight: 187
40: 4.45 / Arm: 32 1/2"" / Vertical: 41"

Barnes was a two year starter at Maryland and was the number one corner on the team each of those seasons. A fifth year senior, Barnes has good leadership skills and is a very intelligent player. He had one of the highest Wonderlic scores (41) out of any player in the draft and was lauded as almost being an extra coach for his younger teammates after his senior season was cut short by an injury after seven games.

He has a good nose for the ball and decent hands for a corner, as evidenced by his six interceptions and 14 pass break ups in 20 games the last two seasons. After the California game where he had an interception and knocked Cal running back Jahvid Best out of the game with a wicked hit, few teams wanted to challenge his side of the field.

He's a zone coverage guy, quick feet, good ball skills, sure tackler. Can't switch directions all that well, so won't be good in man coverage i wouldn't think.
