Woooooo!!!! Goal!!!
OK, I remember a series about 1988 against the Flyers when the Caps went down 3 games to 1. Smashed the Flyers at home, went up to Phiily and crushed them to tie the series.
Then, game 7, Flyers get lucky and take a 3 - 0 lead. Hatcher fires a ricket that nearly tears the net away. The team picks up; you can sense that the Flyers 3-2 lead won;t hold with ten minutes left in the third. It doesn't. Can't remember who scored the goals.
In OT, Hatcher takes the puck, spots Dale Hunter breaking clear, Hunter scores. Who was that "super-star" Flyer goalie who was famous for his passing? Well, he couldn't stop Hunter.
Maybe...maybe again.

Let's hope so. I can't say I don't like the way this is turning out so far.

Yow! And the NBC announcers even mentioned that 1988 series, although they missed the tension of the Caps going down by 3 and coming back in OT.
By the way, the next series was against the Devils. The Caps won the first, were leading in game 2 when one of the Brotens tried to trip Langway with his skate blade, and sliced Langway's shin down to the bone. Bryan Murray lost his temper and kept sending out guys to fight. The Caps lost game 7 on a missed call when a Devil shot off someone's skate, the puck bounced out of the zone, and John MacLean shot the through a screen. Officials said that bouncing off a skate was the same as if a Cap had kicked the puck out.

It was Pat Verbeek who got Langways leg, oddly the same guy coaching the Rangers tonight was the same guy who sent out Verbeek to take out Langway..., LETS GO CAPS!!!!

I think it rests on me, I got a new Brooks Laich jersey and they have won the past two games, but I have also not shaved since game 4, so I'm not sure which one is willing the Caps ahead. Just to be safe I will keep it going for game 7, but past that I have to shave, I look like I've been on a week long bender.

I haven't seen it, but apparently ESPN is reporting that Mike Green will be suspended for game 7.
I just got word from the Caps that the report is NOT TRUE.
I'm still looking for reports that Brashear may be suspended for game 7 after making contact with a New York player during warm-ups of game 6, but so far haven't heard anything.
The league has reported that they WILL NOT punish the Caps for the incident involving a Caps fan and John Tortorella. The league will be supplying extra security of it's own during Game 7.
I will post the Caps today article as soon as I recieve it.

Defense, defense, defense – The Capitals got three of their five goals from defensemen on Sunday (Mike Green, Milan Jurcina, Tom Poti). Poti, who had 13 points during the regular season, has six points this series (2g-4a), including a four-point game on Sunday (1g-3a) to set a new career playoff high. Before this series Poti had only eight assists in 31 career playoff games. Jurcina recorded his first career playoff point with his goal in the first period on Sunday. He now has one goal in 13 career playoff games.

How sweet is that though, down 3-1 and come back to tie up the series. Now that is awesome. Game 7 back in the phone booth, can't wait for that!!

What the hell would Mike Green be suspended for? He was being called in for a hearing, but I assumed it was for the boarding he took from Dubinsky. Brash may get it, but I don't think he should. It was a viscious hit, but no one I've heard other than the Rangers radio coverage on XM's NHL Home Ice thought it was dirty.

What has to be said about the turnaround is that fact that the Caps have gotten goals from players other then Ovechkin. Brad's two in game 5, Poti, Jurchina, Kozy in game 6.

I have seen some Rangers fans trying to compare Brasher's hit to the Todd Bertuzzi, Steve Moore thing. I was surprised Colton Orr was not suspended with the Roy Williams tackle on Semin in game 5.

I'm keeping it, don't worry about that. Though I have to go to drill with the National Guard over the weekend and then I really do have to get rid of it.

BTW, totally jealous about your Brooks Laich jersey. I really like the way he plays the game, followed closely by Dave Steckel and John Erskine, who I think has been the best defenseman in this series.

I found it for a steal on ebay. some guy is selling a ton of official Caps jerseys with the fighting strap and all for $55.00.

That's too funny.
I got my Brooks Laich jersey on eBay also!
I also picked up an Ovechkin Dynamo jersey from the Russian league.
It's nice. No patches, but all of the lettering is dyed into the jersey (not that rub on crap you get with most replicas)

NHL suspends Brash for six games, 1 for the thing with Orr to start and five for the hit on Blair Betts.
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Washington forward Donald Brashear has been suspended for six games by the National Hockey League and will miss Tuesday's Game 7 of the Capitals' Eastern Conference Quarterfinal round series against the New York Rangers (7 p.m. ET, VERSUS, TSN, RDS) for his action both prior to, and during, Sunday's Game 6

I've double checked the league rules, and they are kinda iffy on the subject (referring to Brash's pregame shove)
Since they didn't really fight, it may be nothing, but if the league hits him with instigating, it may be a 10-game suspension (along with a $25,000 fine).
They might hit him with a single game suspension, but for as mild as the altercation was, they may just fine him.
So I dunno. His in game hit was clean in my opinion. It may have been a tad late, but at least he didn't throw an elbow like Avery has been doing on every hit.
