Uh, HELLO? It's the complete OPPOSITE!! We have him by the short and curlys. His value as a players and leverage for contract re-negotiations have dropped DRAMATICALLY over the last week, plus he's signed for a few years. We OWN him!!!

I completely disagree. Yeah, we have the leverage in contract renegotiations now. But were we really going to redo a 2nd year players contract anyway? I highly doubt it.

Overall, Taylor is in the position of power. He shows no respect for authority. He doesn't return the head coach's calls. He gets arrested. He skips workouts. He's not even in the same state as his teammates!!! But what can we do about it? Nothing. The bottom line is that he is too talented a player for us to get rid of, no matter what kind of stuff he pulls. Do you think the team would put up with this kindof crap from Andre Lott?? He'd have been cut weeks ago.

Taylor has all the control here. He's an extremely valuable commodity, and he knows it. We need him out there on the field. He doesn't need us. If we cut him, someone else would immediately sign him and insert him into their starting lineup.

I'm not sure I understand your position on him having control. What control does he have? The only thing he can control is if he plays football in the NFL. All players have that control though and that is news to nobody. Sean is very talented, we all know that. That's why everyone is pissed at him for being ricky junior. But, Gibbs is in control of Sean Taylor. I very highly doubt Sean will play in the first game. Gibbs will teach Sean how to be a player on a Joe Gibbs team or he won't play.

Joe got rid of Coles and Gardner because of how they acted and what they represented. In doing that, he took a huge hit to his ability to mold this team quickly because of the cap hit from Coles. He did that as a message and also because he believes you can't win with players like that on the team. It kills team chemistry and team confidence. You think Sean Taylor is in control here? Sean Taylor is as helpless as Joe Gibbs decides to make him. If Gibbs says, I want Sean to sit at home in Miami for the next 2 years to grow up, Snyder will say, whatever you think is best Joe.

If Taylor doesn't go to court over this thing before the season, I figure he'll be in camp, probably sit out game 1 for not returning Joe's calls thereby embarrassing the team(and unofficially, for not coming to the voluntaries) and then be a good citizen for the year. Next year is anyone's guess though.
Death to the EGO! RIP 21

In ANY event, and no matter WHO is in control, for Sean Taylor to make the big bucks that he wants, he's going to have to prove himself on the field all over again. And, we have him locked up for a few years in a very team friendly salary.
Sit back and watch the Redskins.

Then he has to prove he can handle himself off the field, so this may push any contract talks off until we are into the '06 season.

This has been my point all along, and one which Joe Gibbs is obviously thinking of. Who was it that said Taylor has the Redskins by the cojones? It's simply not true!

Don't blame agent Drew Rosenhaus for the behavior of Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor.
Word is that Taylor has been making all of his ludicrous decisions – like blowing off Washington coach Joe Gibbs for months – on his own. That would go a long way toward explaining why Rosenhaus has refused to say anything about his client this offseason. In fact, there are rumblings that Rosenhaus has been just as perplexed by Taylor's actions as everyone else, and that he had been fervently trying to get him to talk with Gibbs – a line of communication Rosenhaus finally accomplished this week.

And kudos to the Redskins for finally suspending Taylor after his latest alleged brush with the law, in which police accused him of pulling a gun on people he believed had stolen some of his property. For all the people who scream about Kellen Winslow Jr. and Terrell Owens, Taylor has deserved to get ripped far more than them.

Got that from yahoo, if thats true Sean Taylor has lost all respect from me

I understand that Coach Gibbs can just sit him down but how does that help us? He's our best player, him sitting on the bench does us no good. Trading him is no good b/c we'd never get equal value for a player that young and that talented. Releasing him is just completely insane. That would be a terrible decision.

We need him more than he needs us. He could go to any team in the league and be a superstar.

Our other options are Andre Lott or Ryan Clark.

This is the same hog wash Mr. Taylor seems to believe. Need I remind you, this is probably the same reason why he thinks he is exempt from attending OTAs or returning Joe's calls without an intermediary.

Sean has a long career ahead of him (barring extensive jail time), and Joe will have plenty of time to groom him into the "Redskin" he needs to be. In the meantime, it serves him right to sit on the pine for a minute. That'll certainly keep him closer to Joe, thereby allowing him to (pardon the phrase ) "coach 'im up".

I think we are all (or most of us) on the same page here. I think that there is a difference in playing on what ST presumes are his terms and playing on Joe (and Greg's) terms.

We will not cut off our nose to spite our face. ST will now be playing BUT we now can make a bit of a "deal" about that playing time whereas if he had showed up and taken another step from last year he might have been in a stronger position - now he plays by their (Joe & Greg's) rules.

We still do not know the "official" deal here but we do know that Greg and Joe are in a much stronger position than they were with whatever future Sean felt he deserved!

And as JP pointed out that is for a few years of "clean living" and hopefully hard hitting for both ST and the Skins!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Yeah its more understandable for Lavar to do it, we know him as fans more and we trust him to perform and hes been with the redskins, but for a rookie to do that and think he is greater than the NFL, makes me pissed off, because he thinks the world revolves around him. He is letting the fans down, and more importantly Joe Gibbs down

Wed Jun 15 2005 - Sean Taylor's arraignment for two felony counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one misdemeanor charge of battery will take place on June 24th. We will know then if the city chooses to prosecute Taylor for the charges.

I thought that was sick, however I was surprised Joe let him do that, I mean it was kind of a 'me me me' thing.

And when LaVar did it, I think he was just doing it a joke, I mean remember his "Plastic Mobile" facemask against the 49ers

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor , facing two felony counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and one misdemeanor charge of battery, has switched to a new defense lawyer. Taylor hired Edward Carhart , a well-known trial lawyer in Miami, to replace Fred Moldovan , who had accompanied the safety when he surrendered to authorities June 4.

"My first impression of Sean Taylor is that he's a nice young man," Carhart said yesterday. "The young man should be presumed innocent, and let's see where the proof takes us. I'm encouraged that the assistant state attorney has assured me he has an open mind, and would like to hear both sides before making a filing decision. You can't ask for anything better than that."

Taylor's arraignment is scheduled for June 24.

Police said that they still haven't made any arrests for shots fired at Taylor's car and at a home that he was in after the safety allegedly pointed a gun at two men he believed stole his two all-terrain vehicles. According to a source with knowledge of the case, Taylor still hasn't filed a police report.

Carhart, a former prosecutor for 10 years, said: "Keep this in mind: It may very well be that Sean Taylor is a victim and not actually a defendant. I don't know if you've ever been shot at but that's not something I'd like to go through."

I guess this is good news??

Police say Taylor will be prosecuted
By Carlos Frías

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Friday, June 17, 2005

The Miami-Dade state attorney intends to prosecute Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor, who recently was charged with a felony of aggravated assault with a firearm, police said Thursday.

Taylor, a former University of Miami football player, turned himself in to Miami-Dade police June 4 after he was charged with attacking a man he said stole his all-terrain vehicle.

According to the police report, Taylor drove up to two men in his car, pointed a gun at them and demanded to know where his ATV was.

Taylor left, according to the report, but returned about 10 minutes later and jumped one of the men. One of Taylor's associates allegedly chased the other man with a baseball bat.

The state attorney's office told police it believes there is sufficient evidence to prosecute Taylor, Miami-Dade Detective Mary Walters said.

State attorney spokesman Ed Griffith said the office will not announce its plans until Taylor's arraignment June 24.

Police still are investigating Taylor's claim that shots were fired at his car in retaliation, Walters said.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that Taylor hired a new attorney, Edward Carhart, a Miami defense lawyer and former prosecutor, to defend him.

That could change in a week, look at the number of times the facts have already changed

And he'll still have to be convicted

I'll wait until the 24th and see what happens

I read somewhere that the dude prosecuting him also was dealing with the Antrel Rolle situation last year in Miami and let him off with just a warning. I'm really gonna be surprised if Sean has to do any jail time
