I'm kind of wondering if the skins told him to go out and find the biggest offer he could get and we will reward him by matching and throw in a couple extra million in the signing bonus.....I"m just hopin we don't lose him

No worries. He'll be back. That there is no news is probably a good thing. Cerrato would have signed him a month ago to a huge deal. Now, we're letting him go out and find out what other teams would sign a 38 year old middle linebacker to

Thanks Chief and Langley I appreciate that I was about ready to have a couple shots of tequila -drinking BTW you guys have been on the site longer than I have even tho I've been a skins fan for 25 of my 29 years and my dad tried to make me a Bears fan but my gramps bought me a 1987 super bowl champ hat and that was all she wrote.....anyways I was just wondering what your shopping list is for the rest of FA besides resigning London....

Dag gone it.. I think maybe 1Niks or Frank (or CLL or someone..LOL) posted a list of our free agents a while ago and I told myself I had to copy it to notepad but of course I didn't.

Here though, is a list of ALL free agents for 2012 and you can click by position.

Apart from Fletcher

we need OL, CB and possibly SS

we need to sign hopefully 2 offensive linemen - maybe 1 really good guy [-o<
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

So far, I am positively impressed with the steps taken to sign 2 solid WRs and hopefully a 3rd one this week.

Yes, we have other needs BUT I can see us addressing those needs with solid (maybe not stellar) players which could really shine in the right situation.

No, we will not be Superbowl ready THIS year BUT I like what I see so far.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Thanks DarthMonk I love that man actually brings a tear to my eye cuz he died 10 years ago today....He was a great man and a proud die hard skins fan that thankfully didn't have to see the mess we've been going through but I know he would greatly approve the way the team is being run today.

I'm not thrilled about the Garcon or Josh Morgan signing, but I am warming up to them and I can see how they might help us and likely will, but could someone explain why we are even talking to Eddie Royal?

I understand his best season was with MS, but lets look at it:
started 15 games, caught 91 balls, for 980 yards, 5 TDs, at 10.8 y/c

Compare that to AAA over the past two seasons because he couldn't even carry Santana's jock:
started 13 games, caught 51 balls, for 974 yards, 5 TDs, at 19.1 y/c

Sure he caught 40 less passes, but same yards and TDs for more than 8 yards more per catch!

Royal over the past two seasons (same number as AAA) did this:
started 18 games, caught 78 balls, 882 yards, 4 TDs, at 10.2 y/c

Again more reception than AAA but less yards and TDs at over 5 more starts than AAA.

Royals puts up FB type y/c numbers (not a good thing for a WR). In fact, his best season wrt to y/c is 10.8. If you look at TEs (not even WRs) that caught 20 balls or more there were 26 TEs that had a higher y/c than Royal's best! Cooley's career y/c average is 11 and he has only had two seasons (rookie and last year) where his y/c wasn't better than Royal's best!

I thought MS said he wanted explosive players? Royal is the opposite of that!!!!! Cover him with a LB if you want because he isn't going to break a long run on you.

As bad as ARE was the last couple of years he was here his production at WR just flat out destroys Royal's.

Are we signing this guy just to be a PR?

I don't think it's PR I just think we're trying to get younger and Shanny did draft him and he had that 90 catch season under Shanny. Shanny also has REPEATEDLY said that AA has to beat bump coverage and he gets thrown off his route too much which will hopefully make AA step up his game. Anyways doesn't AA play a flanker not a slot so he would compete with Gafney and Garcon instead of Moss and Royal(if signed)

Armstrong had 7 catch for a 103 yards and two td's last year on a team that was desperate for a playmaker at receiver. Despite Moss and Hankerson getting injured, he couldn't get more than 7 catches?

Give me Royal...

Picture his 4.39 speed in a 4 or 5 WR set. Somebody is getting open and if they use 4 or 5 CBs either somebody is still getting open or somebody is going to run.

Royal can't compete with Moss. Even at Moss' age he just a drastically better player than Royal. It would be a dramatic detriment to the team if they tried to replace Moss with Royal. These two players aren't even close in talent level (again even with Moss approaching NFL AARP status)!

Riight now the best three Skins WRs (under contract) are Garcon, Gafney, and Moss. Hankerson could beat out Gafney, but until he does those are the top three.

Heck I would keep Austin, Paul, or Robinson before signing Royal! If you want to cut Moss for one of those guys I would say it is a bad idea, but atleast it has a chance od working. Royal would be wasted money and a wasted roster spot.

from ESPN Chat:
Marc (Malden, MA)

Have to think the Redskins will look to trade Moss and/or Gaffney, right?
Matt Williamson (12:34 PM)

Not Gaffney. He is a Shanny favorite and really knows the scheme well. As for Moss, might have to release him. Not sure teams will be banging down WASH's door to acquire him.

... and as others have indicated, he's a heckuva return man. Ravens appear interested now.

ESPN 980 is reporting Eric Winston has signed with a team (not the Skins) but I missed who. Did anyone catch it?
