I think the Cousins that responds to adversity is a better QB than the one that is 'controlled' by the coaching staff
I liked how he's played when the game is on the line or when he's responding to adversity
I do trust Scot to make the right decisions for this franchise, especially with regards to Gruden and Cousins - we all think we know what is going on from what we 'see' and hear - Scot is much more in touch with what is happening and he will hopefully have Snyder's support to do whatever he thinks is best for this franchise going forward - Snyder can afford to overpay anyone, Scot will not ...
as far as RG3 is concerned, I still think he's got a lot of gas in that tank and that he's going to respond well when he next gets an opportunity
RG3 playing well will be a good thing for the NFL

Sure, let's going ahead and let Cousins walk because he's just a back up and get a new coach who can help RGIII reach his sky is the limit, superstar potential like SkinsJock wants.

I don't think there's any chance now that Scot lets Cousins walk. We'll use the franchise tag if we have to, although IMHO that would still indicate a failure on the part of our front office. Let's make a 3-4 year commitment.

I'd rather they tag him and make sure this season isn't a fluke before they commit to him for several years.

Scot & Bruce will figure out a way to make the best deal for both Cousins and the franchise without having to overpay him
IMO there's no chance that Gruden, Cousins and Griffin are on this roster in 2016 and IMO at least 2 are not here, and possibly all 3
actually, the only person I really want to see here in 2016 is Scot McClaughan - he will make it better

I am too old to see my hopes crushed again if the Skins don't resign Cousins I'm done, it will be even dumber than firing Marty in my opinion. I want Scot, Cousins and Gruden for several years. I think Scot needs to extent Cousins for 3-4 years at crazy money, I don't care I just want it done, and hope for the best. If they make the playoffs I think he should extend Gruden also if for no the other reason because Jay had the balls to buck Snyder and commit to Cousins.
Scot, Gruden and Cousins make a good team, as for Griffin they need to let him go, even if his 16M contract can be reduced to 3rd string money. I don't think Robert thinks fast enough to run Gruden's offense so I don't see how Robert can contribute to the team. The team would be smarter to have a 3rd string QB that has some potential to develop in Gruden's system. Staying in Washington would keep Robert healthy in his track suit on the sidelines but other than that he'd might be much better fit with another team with a different system.

I agree re the franchise tag, but what QB is given a 3 year commitment? In the NFL, that isn't much of a commitment. Most QBs that are "handed the keys" get a contract in the 5-6 year range. If I'm Cousins, I'm not interested in a 3 year deal; not even 4. Based on history with the FO and Danny boy, I'd want a SERIOUS commitment of 5 or 6 --- but that's just me. I'd want to assure that the owner and FO won't pull another RGIII-favoritism stunt.
If he finishes strong, there will potentially be 5-10 teams that would sign him as a starter (STL, CLE, SF, BUF, PHI, HOU, NYJ off the top of my head) and be willing to "commit".

lol. Gotta save that one for my sig file.
One of the NFL.com guys reported like a week ago that Jay was coming back in 2016. Guess we'll see, but I suspect there will be some disappointed people around here.

I'm a Redskins fan and we're used to getting our hopes up and then facing reality ... look at what happened before the last game with the pukes
If Scot wants to keep Gruden, that's fine with me - I do think that we'll have Cousins back here unless he's greedy - I doubt that Scot & Bruce are going to overpay Cousins - Cousins is in a great situation because of who else is available but he's not getting elite QB money
we just need to have Scot and the FO keep up the good work ... it's all good

Don't go all wobbly on us now, kid. You've already thrown down the gauntlet and let us all know that Gruden and Cousins are gone imminently, and that RG3 will rise again. I'm looking forward to seeing this all go down!
I thought you would have been in better spirits today, man. We just won a game. And a road game at that. And a meaningful game in December! You gotta enjoy this stuff!!!

Yes. Real simple. We gave up the farm for RGIII and now people wanna b*** up over Cousins. Sign the man.

Exactly! The Griffin gamble was SO SPECULATIVE because the jump from spread option college QB to the NFL is huge whereas Cousins is worse case going to plateau about where he is and the best case he'll continue to get better and someday be one of the leagues best. Even if he doesn't improve the Skins lock down a decent QB who can run the coaches offense so if the roster around him improves the team itself improves. I can't imagine he regressing with an improving roster around him and more experience so performing like he has this season is the worse case. The middle of the road outcome is Cousins improves somewhat and the roster around him improves so the Skins are in the hunt for the division and more each year. Best case 10 run with one of the best QB's in the league who also is polished and graceful off the field. I really believe the latter is the most likely, Shanahan and now Gruden are right Kirk's the real deal.
My head is going to explode if the Skins screw this up.

I don't know if anyone here uses twitter, but there is a small contingent of "fans" who continually have bashed Gruden/Cousins all year...and still continue to do so. I thought perhaps they would have come around if we were still in first place with 3 games left in the season, but no, they've doubled down in their Cousins/Gruden hate. It's kind of sad. I mean, I would get it if he had multiple Jets-like games over the past couple of weeks, but he's at 12 TD's to 3 INT's over the last several weeks...what's not to like?

will find a way to screw this up??

Hey OldSchool - get out of here with your stupid ultimatum - you're a spoilt brat - go back to your Browns and little Johnny Manziel
We could have Dan Snyder take over here again and I'll still be here hoping for things to get better
I hope that Scot wants Jay but if he doesn't that's fine with me
I hope that Cousins understands what he's worth to this franchise but if he doesn't screw him - Scot and Bruce will be more than fair
I hope the franchise let's Griffin go and that he becomes a super QB because I'm a Griffin fan and a great RG3 is great for the NFL
I'll be here in 2016 no matter who is the GM or who is the HC or who is the QB - I'm a Redskins fan
screw the stupid fair-weather fans and especially twits with ultimatums - get out of here and leave us alone
I have faith we're going to get better - I understand it will take time - this is what it takes to be a Redskins fan

sadly I agree and that is why I am concerned, any other franchise would extend Cousins without suspense but with Snyder all manner of screw-ups are possible. I never trusted Snyder after he canned Marty. I would love to read tomorrow the deal was done and I really don't care if it is for crazy money.
If the Skins lose Cousins that will be it for me. I can handle losing and have for many years like the rest of you but there is a limit to the Snyder stupidity I will tolerate and if Cousins gets away I'm done. I stopped buying season tickets because it stopped being fun but if they extend Cousins I'm buying again next year because I'll believe in their direction and feel like our guys will be doing some winning. I so want to have some seasons at the stadium again and having some fun!

whatever it takes to not have to put up with fans that think that the franchise should do what they think is right is OK with me ...
as long as Scot is here I'd be really happy to lose a bunch of dead weight - SEE YA

Nobody. Just kidding.
I feel bad for Hank though. He showed some potential at times just hasn't been able to stay healthy.

I voted yes we should keep him.
My reasoning is aligned with DEHog's thread about "if not Cousins than who"?
There's really no one out there I'd say yes yes, let's get him asap.
Since he's been with Gruden for a little while now and he's learned the system (or learning), I say we need to re-sign him and upgrade other positions like OLine and Defense.
