Bob from yesterday and my response:

The one thing the Capitals have going for them tonight is they are playing at Madison Square Garden
Right on the nose

Capitals are definitely comfortable in New York
Your like, Bobstrademus over there

Teams have trailed 2-0 in a best-of-seven series a total of 291 times and have come back to win the series on 37 occasions or 12.7% of the time. The Capitals have never pulled off such a comeback
Mr superstitious (sp) that I am, I may not watch the remainder of the games so we win, it's that simple. Seriously :?

Varlamov became the 19th goalie in NHL history to make his playoff debut before his 21st birthday Saturday afternoon
Isn't he now the 4th to win a playoff game before his 21st birthday? I think I heard that on the radio?

Gamers – The Capitals are 10-19 all-time in playoff Game 3s, including a 7-9 record on the road and an 0-4 record when trailing in the series, 2-0.
So let's just update that... 11-19 all-time in playoff Game 3s, 8-9 record on the road and .... well we'll have to see how that one ends up :D

So here's my logic not to watch the game. Game 1 I watched the game and we lost, Game 2 I was AT the game and we lost. Last night I was working and couldn't see the game, what happened last night folks? Anyone? So for real, I'm going to DVR the games from here on out and if we win, I'll go back and watch it. However if we lose I'll just delete it from the box.

YES!!!! Cool

Thanks LPJ, but those reports that you commented on are actually sent to me by the Caps. They send out a daily e-mail to all Caps media, and I've been reposting them here so everyone can enjoy them.

You can also find them on the Caps website, but I figure posting them here saves everyone a trip.

That game was awesome!

I am thrilled for Varlimov pitching his first shutout in his second Playoff game!

Y'know, a 1-0 shutout loss at home is not anywhere near as embarassing as a 4-0 shutout loss at home.

New York fell apart. Avery was an excellent barometer of the team's collapse yesterday.

I've said it before, but I think this signals the end for Brent Johnson. Personally, I hope it's Theodore that gets cut this year. Even though he played well late in the season, I think Johnny's more consistent.

It would make sense to drop Theo as I think he is more expensive than Johnson.

Either way, if Varly can stay healthy, I think the job is his!

They were right last night, he doesn't speak a word of engllish. I laughed when I saw Avery taunting him, because he would have no idea what Avery was saying!

Hey Bob, you read my mind on Varly. I actually wrote him a letter in the blog section. Grant Paulsen also chipped in a report. Jake reported live from Verison at game 2, and I hope he can do the same for Game 5.

There's some good Caps and Hershey Bears playoff content rolling on the hog blogs right now.

Sorry to disappoint, but I didn't want to lie to ya. I couldn't take credit for something I only cut and pasted out of an e-mail.

You really do owe it to yourself (if you aren't doing so already) to check out the blog sections.

That is all original content. Like JF said, Jake was reporting live from the game!

It's a thrilling expirience sitting amongst the rest of the press corps and getting to interview the players afterwards.

The only downside is that you can't get autographs, or even admit to being a fan, but it's a cool enough trade off just to be able to say "I stood in the presence of Alex Ovechkin. I got to ask him questions, and he responded to me specifically!"

We occasionally get our own exclusive content, and quotes directly from the players.

It really is work, and the Caps are great to us, but we are nothing without readers!

Playoff star - Nicklas Backstrom has found his comfort zone in the playoffs. After his three-assist performance against the Rangers last night, Backstrom now has four points (4a) in the three games of the series. Backstrom has been a part of the Caps playoffs squad the past two seasons and now has 10 points (4g-6a) in 10 career playoff games. Only Alex Ovechkin (13) and Alexander Semin (12) have recorded more points in the same span. Not only does Backstrom find the net, but he also has dominated the faceoff circle. Through three games he has recorded a 66.7 faceoff percentage (34-of-51), second-best in the NHL. In all three games this series he has gone over 50% from the circle, a continuation of his success in last season's playoffs where he went 43-of-86 (50%).

Here we go were right back in it now. I loved the story about Ovi going to the Rangers morning practice and when they told him to leave he said "Its because they're afraid of me." Haha thats great. The defensive play he made to stop the break away was great. I think we have found our goalie for the next decade. Even if we don't pull this series out the future looks good with Varlamov in goal and the talent we have in front of him.

Most importantly, we lost some dead weight last night too.

Shultz is still out with his "I whiffed and hurt myself on the boards" injury, and Nylander was the odd man out yesterday when Brashear came back.

Even though Brash did not see much ice time, the team played better with out Nyls in the lineup.

Not to mention, Brash took Avery out of his game early in the first and he never recovered. Brash brings the toughness that was sorely lacking in the first two games.

Backstrom was my hero of the night, though (except Varlamov, of course). Particularly the first goal, where he checked the guy out of his way, dug the puck out of the boards and laid it perfectly on Ovie's stick for the quick pass to Semin. Ovie can create his own shot, but Semin really benefits from a Backstrom-type player getting him the puck in good situations.

I think now with Brash back in the line up Avery is gonna think twice about being a moron on the ice.

Did you see him back down from Brash? towards the end of the second period, after the whistle in front of Varley. Avery looks to start some trouble and realizes he is mouthing off to Brasher and turns and skates away, priceless!

Avery= ;furious;
Varlamov= :hmm:

That all equals Caps victory!!!

That was great. Brash could tear that guy up. Morrison and Green got in his face too when he was trying to screen Varlamov later.

I liked when Erskine grabbed him by the collar and "moved" him away from Varly. Avery took a shot at Erskine, and drew a penalty for it.

Big John just shrugged off the hit and let the refs carry Avery to the penalty box!

With his play in this series Erskine is quickly joining the list with Ovie and Backs as one of my favorite players on this team.
