Champ is a piece of crap....the Washington team that he played for, pre-Gibbs, cannot be compared to the team that is playing now. I hope Brown can see that.

Too late!

From USA Today's Inside Slant:
NOTES, QUOTES
—In another sign of how influential players can remain even when they skip town, former Redskins CB Champ Bailey gave a pitch against Washington to Brown. Bailey, now a member of the Broncos, wanted to see Brown sign with Denver but also was in a unique position to offer some insight on the dysfunctionality that has plagued Washington.
No word on exactly what Bailey said. But the superstar played in Washington from 1999 to 2003 and left with a very sour taste in his mouth, and there certainly was no love lost between him and owner Dan Snyder.
Bailey is one of the most over-rated players in the NFL. He was part of the problem in Washington. You can't pay a CB top dollar when they get burned 2-3 times a game.
Smoot on the other hand was a great player and a warrior. I'm very sorry to see him go.
Brown hasn't done anything in the NFL. All I've heard is bad things about him. I'd much rather have another Ron Warner on the team than him.

THE NEWS
Free agent defensive end Courtney Brown told the four teams pursuing him that he needs more time to make a decision, according to the Washington Post. The former No. 1 overall pick of the 2000 draft has met with officials from the Redskins, Broncos, Seahawks, and Jaguars. The Browns, who released Brown earlier this month in a cost-cutting move, appear to be out of the running.
OUR VIEW
The buzz on Friday was that Courtney was leaning toward signing with the Broncos. However, his delay in announcing his decision is a good sign that he has yet to make up his mind.

What is he waiting for? Does he think teams will get in a bidding war? He has awsome untaped tallent but he can't stay on the field. Sign a one year deal to prove he can stay healthy and then get the big payday next year.

I believe Courtney's agent and the Skins are waiting for Gardner to be traded so that there is additional Cap space.

Champ Bailey is really starting to piss me off! He hasn't been on this team for a while now and he's still talking trash about it? Talk about a serious cancer. I'm so glad Coach Gibbs got rid of him.
All I want for Christmas is to see us play the Broncos in the Superbowl. Its 4th and 15 with a minute to go.....We're down by 5 points. Ramsey drops back to pass and throws a 40 yard bomb to whoever Champ Bailey is covering; so of course it goes for a touchdown.....He looses we win. That would make me happy. It would make me so happy that I would never ask for another Christmas present again.

Nope. A huge blowout, in which 5 of the 6 touchdowns are scored by the receiver Bailey was assigned to.
The 6th is scored by Portis, who runs right over Champ.

Champ needs to mature a little bit and learn to let go of Washington's business. For the love of God, he's not even playing for the team anymore and won't shut up.

We really don't know what if anything Champ is saying! This is typical media speculation again. Even CB (and his agent) know that Champ was not here and cannot talk to the team on the field under Gibbs & Greg.
Gibbs did not get rid of Champ - he did not want to be here and Gibbs & company got what they thought was the best out of that situation.
Hopefully Brown will be here but I am certain that Greg will have a great defence with or without him because it is a team defence and is not as dependent on the quality of players.

It will be two touchdowns by Portis, one where he runs over Champ and the other, he junks him out

If what I recall about him is true, this is a really nice, family oriented guy. I suspect that he is agonizing over his choices... I'd bet that he really wants to go to the 'skins (I think that he knows that Gibbs and Williams are his kind of people), but Denver put a somewhat better offer on the table. For us, it's a no brainer... but the money is important, too. He does want to get the most from his carreer, which (if his injury history is any indication) could be limited.
I imagine that he wants to be an every down player (another likely part of Denver's appeal), but yet he also knows that platooning with other quality DE's (likely in Williams D) would probably reduce the chance of injury.
I can see how it would be a tough call.
Brown goes to Denver

Great! We have roughly 30 pages of posts on a guy that we're not even going to get. That's great!

Your loss.
