I hate hearing the excuse about how it's okay for a player to suck in a new system. That's NO excuse at all! Kurt Warner and Vinny Testaverde are doing great on their respective teams AND the Giants have a new coach.
And maybe the pass where Taylor Jacobs had a step on his man was forgiveable, but the one where Coles was COMPLETELY open and Brunell threw it out of bounds.. WTH?

everyone keeps saying we need to give Brunell time...someone pointed out he's been here since February and it's six games in....nuff said.
Just once, once, show us something...like a 60% game with 2 TD's and zero pics...
Thank God he isn't a pic throwing machine like Ramsey.
I'm at a complete loss as to how we can fix this QB mess.

Joe Gibbs
I will agree with the choice at QB made by Joe Gibbs.
He sees the game in more detail and on film better than we do.
I feel that Patrick would have been hurt in a few sacks already during the last couple of games. Patrick's time will come. I just do not feel that our OL would give him a decent chance now.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Brunell does a good job of running the team, he reads defenses well, and plays hard, but he simply can't make the throws necessary to keep a defense honest. To consider Hasselbeck is out of the question. Ramsey has to be the QB and now. The bye week is the time. Gibbs loyalty is great but enough is enough, it is time.

Ramsey would already be the starter if he would...
1.Throw the ball away instead of trying to make something out of nothing
2.Get rid of the ball instead of holding onto it hoping someone will come open
3.Move his feet (scramble when needed) and stop being a target
The first two I blame on Spurrier the 3rd either you came run or you can't but I feel he choses not to run
Gibbs will look at the game film this week and then he will do what he has to do.
We can't read too much into what he said at the post game game new conference but it sure sounded like "these are the reasons Mark is in there and Patrick isn't"....
then again he could have been talking to Ramsey

Why do so many of you say that Ramsey throws so many interceptions? He doesn't, he had 9 all of last season when he was sacked or hurried on almost every play. So what if he had 2 interceptions against the Giants, that's one game. Favre had 4 or 5 last week..... he had a bad week.... so what, that's no reason bench him.
Brunell has given the defense of our opponents a touchdown in EVERY SINGLE GAME this year, he SUCKS! I have given him every benefit of the doubt and he has played mediocre at best, it's time to bench him. Some of you say he plays with guts or heart, well I haven't seen any of that. Ramsey played in one game so far and he tried so hard to help us win he made mistakes..... that's playing with heart..... taking the chance in making the play so that we might win.
Ramsey simply needs coaching and playing time..... that's all. Brunell is a has been and can't accurately throw the ball over 30 yards.
Nobody is talking about how GREAT Portis played today..... he was outstanding, just as he has been all year but today he got the yards. Portis plays with heart and guts, he NEVER gives up whether he's running, receiving or blocking... a true Redskin just like Smoot. Brunell has not shown any of that.
Ramsey is my guy and hopefully Gibbs' as well after this latest miserable performance from Brunell.

I didn't list Ramsey's interceptions because if he would throw the ball away or not try to force it then they would go away.
Patrick has thrown 3 ints Mark has 2 but the int's that
Ramsey has thrown were like long punts. Brunell puts points
on the board for the other team.
I'd rather turn the ball over without giving up points on the same play.
Plus Ramsey gives us the big play potential that makes the defense play both the run and the deep ball.
I think Joe will make the switch during the bye but if not then Brunell will be the QB and have my full support

I hope Ramsey gets a chance. I like Brunell but he is going to lose more games than he'll win. Ramsey came in one game and was finding guys open all over the field even if some were on the other team.

I am suprised to hear how many people are down on Ramsey. I can't see how Ramsey could perform any worse then Brunell. The offense is going no where with Brunell and averaging a Defensive TD against in every game. It seems like one in every 4 passes Brunell throws is tipped at the line of scrimmage. He takes too long to decide where to go with the ball, and he can't throw an out pattern or a deep ball.
If Ramsey had started the season as the QB and performed the way Brunell has, you can bet he would have been yanked for Brunell. I can't see how Ramsey could do any worse.

Excellent point. Ramsey could have done everything Brunell has done thus far and more. I'm not hatin' on Brunell...I think he can do good things for us...but not necessarily as our #1 QB. I'd really like to see Ramsey get his shot.

At some point, you have to take the honus off the "new system". Yes this system is complex, but the system doesn't miss open receivers. The system doesn't throw the ball at a defender. A veteran should be able to throw through the passing lanes. A veteran should be able to hit open guys in any system. The Coles pass, not only was he wide open behind the defense, but Brunell had plenty of time to plant his feet, step into the throw and follow through. If you can't make an uncontested throw to a wide open man, then you should not be playing quarterback in the NFL. I am not a Brunell hater. I thought it was a good idea to bring in a veteran QB and I thought Brunell would probably win the starting job, not because of his contract but because of his experience.
He is not getting the job done. We can only speculate about what would have been different with Ramsey in the game, but it seems to me we never had a problem with him throwing deep balls to wide open guys.

Jeff Garcia and Testiverde havn't been pro-bowlers this season. Garcia had a 0 qb rating against Dallas. Testiverde has been sliping since the Redskins game. Testiverde's fumble yesterday lost them the game.
I don't have a clue on what goes on in our practice, but I think Brunell should do a lot of deep passing drills. He does have the ablility to make long passes. He needs to improve his accuracy though.
I don't want Ramsey in there unless we have no chance in winning the wild card. Ramsey has a strong arm and that's about it.

Let us all gather around and drink the
ey-Aid of the Redskins.

I am one of Brunell's biggest fans and supporters. After a solid 1st quarter, I must agree he looked terrible. In fact it was after he took the helmet to helmet hit (that was not called) when he totally lost it. I used to be able to make the down field throw, I don't understand what's up.
I will not fault him on the intercept that went for a TD. Samuels had outside help with a chip block and was simply beat on that play by giving way to much ground.
I also say that his prior games were not nearly as bad as most has been saying. There are simply not a lot of opportunities.
I'm still not convinced that with the offensive philosophy and OL, no QB is going to excel.
I was pleased with the adjustment made on run blocking. There was much less "pulling" linemen, and more standard blocking schemes. Portis and the OL looked much better. So maybe with a bye week some adjustments can be made to the passing game.
If no changes are made than no matter who is at QB, he will have limited time in the pocket, and/or limited receivers to throw to with max protection. Ramsey may not survive it.

Nicely said Brandon, You guys are right when you should say this "new system" needs to just not be used as a excuse for much longer. I can see your point when you mention Garcia, Warner and Vinny being in new systems. Brandon pretty much said what I wanted to say in response to that.
I just want to add one more thing. Garcia came to a team that didn't go nuts signing or drafting new players on his offense. There were pretty much the same recievers and running backs and the same coaches on that team. In other words he was the only one who had to get used to that new system. The players all know where to line up at and which route to run and how to block. I haven't heard Garcia yell "Get over there!" to a player this year. I also haven't seen him call a timeout because a player is out of position.
Just give Brunnel a few more games. He's playing as hard as he can and its not his fault he gets sacked, hit, or pressured most of the time. Neither is it his fault when Portis, or Coles fumble the ball.

DUMP SI!!!
DUMP SI!!!
Brunell stunk it up badly yesterday. He's pretty much stunk it up all year long. Portis and the Oline did well. Mike Sellers pounded people all day long. Coles, Thrash and Gardner did great blocking downfield. Running the ball against a pretty good D is a good sign. But we've gotta be able to throw the ball downfield... to someone other than the waterboy.
There were some big first downs, and the O is showing signs of life... but I'd pull Brunell and let Ramsey hand the ball off. Brunell's delivery is too slow, too low and rarely accurate. And he runs like he's running in mud.
No question, Alex Brown was made to look like the best DE to ever play Pro Football - but the QB has to know that guy is coming!
Lastly, Brunell has thrown more Int's for TD's than TD's... sit, stay, don't hurt yourself and be ready.:0)

I've been reading a lot about this "waterboy" recently, and I can only wonder... why hasn't Dan Snyder overpaid this guy to play yet??? He should be on the field cause the other guys keep dropping balls.
Snyder's missing valuable marketing opportunities by leaving him on the sidelines!!!!
Back and better than ever!
