No team has ever done it, but theirs nothing embarassing about have 26 WS wins, believe me! You can't win every year & no team will every do what the Yankees have done or even catch up with us! "Embarassing" is not winning a WS since 1918 & choking every year that that did make it. "Embarassing" isn't losing 1 year to a team that we've TOTALLY dominated since 1996, it HAD to happen sooner or later, in this case....it happened sooner! "Embarassing"....I dont think so!

Ant, I'm gonna have to go against you on that point you just made. Mike Francesca, by the way, agrees with me.
The Yankees can't lean on the winning seasons as if they were some type of crutch. We're held to a different standard. Sad, but true.
The Red Sox, for the next season, are the team to beat in the East. The Orioles and Yanks are tied for second. You know Lee is gonna have that team ready to play this year.

After this off-season the Yanks will still be the team to beat, Pedro leaving Boston, Varitek...etc. We'll see! But how can you say Baltimore is tied for 2nd with us????? They are 3rd in my book, they didn't make the playoff or ever really come close.
we're going to get Beltran & updrade our pitching, I still think we'll be the team to beat.

As an O's fan, I can't say that they are tied for 2nd at this point. We still have money to spend in the offseason. We have some good young pitching. If we can get a staff ace (Ponson ain't it) and maybe another top three pitcher, I would be happy with our starting pitching.... new ace, lopez, ponson cabrera and the new top 3 pitcher would be a decent rotation. Our offense is good, and maybe we can add one bat like beltran and we will be a good team. Mazz looked good for a rookie manager. He seems to have good instincts.

I totally agree, except that Beltran will be a Yankee next year, nobody can out bid George! LOL

Hopefully, we will atleast try this time. The whole Mussina debacle really irked me. He basically told the front office he would take less money to stay in Baltimore and Thrift decided to wait until the last second and then come in with an offer so much less that Mussina would have had to be commited if he took it.
Part of me has been rooting for Mussina to get a ring with you guys, because he is still one of my favorite players, but since he's been there you guys haven't been able to close the deal.

i've heard that the acquisition of beltran would mean a shake up in the yankees clubhouse, because it would put fan-favorite bernie williams out of a job.

Bernie only played because his offense really turned up the 2nd half, I also kinda think Torre has it in for Lofton. Bernie is not a good CF anymore, he lost a step & never relly had an arm. Did you see what Beltran did in the playoffs?????? George will give him anything he wants & Bernie will have to except the DH role. We need some young talent, to many veterans. Hopefully Giambi will come around, I can take his average glove if his bat comes back. Maybe a 2nd baseman, but I'm happy with Cairo. OBVIOUSLY we need pitching, LOL! I don't think Beltran would shake us up at all though! I don't think getting Beltran can shake up ANY team! LOL

Oddly, three of the six games I went to this year were Yankee-Oriole games. I liked what I saw Lee doing with that club. He really is coolheaded, too. He doesn't get all worked up like Sweet Lou does, and that's a plus.
He did win a couple against us, didn't he ? I have to stick with my tie for second, all things considered at this point.
