It started in the upper deck west end zone. And while the offense was on the field no less....
The whole time I was thinking - sit down, watch the game and be quiet! I'm not a kill joy but let the offense work. Yell all you want with their Offense on the field but not ours. Our stadium fans aren't the best - I see a lot reading, knitting and such while the game is going on. Or you get the jerk standing and yelling through the whole game even though he doesn't know what's going on. Great way to enjoy a game with butt crack constantly in your face. The solution - move to the Clubs. I did and love it there. The toilets still flush in the 4th quarter, no one is puking on your shoes and the fans seem to know what's going on.
I had the exact opposite reaction. When I have sat in the club level, it seems at any given time 10 to 15 percent of the crowd isn't even in their seats. The people around the seats we sat in were quiet almost the entire game, except one loud gentleman who dogged the Redskins the whole game. I guess it's all in the location.
Our seats in the front of the upper deck is filled with all kinds. There are certainly obnoxious drunks who don't know what they are talking about, but there are some real solid fans, too. Most of them know to be quiet when the offense is on the field and most people know to scream their heads off when the defense is on the field.
I agree that the wave is annoying, but sometimes it serves a purpose. In this case it woke up some people who were watching our team almost silently and afterwards, the place got really loud. Sometimes you gotta put up with something you don't like in order to get where you want to go. If I gotta suck it up and do the wave in the third quarter in order to get the stands rocking like they were in the fourth quarter, than so be it.

They're not asking you to do the "Macarena" people.... it's just the wave........ which is better then sitting there with your thumb up your caboose.....
If you don't want to do it then don't do it..... if you do then do it..... no need to label whether it's "cool" or not.... most of us, i believe, left high school awhile ago..

Exactly! If you want peace and quiet go to a library. That wave is hardly a distraction in contrast to the decibel level made when the Bucs were on offense.
My goodness, its not like they're taking the SAT's.

This may be a dumb question, but how the heck does a wave get started? All I know is I was watching the game when all of a sudden some people around me stood up to do it, and I noticed it go around a second time, and then on the third time I joined in. It can't be as easy as just some one person starting it! Can it?

Some drunk guy stands up and yells "hey everybody, we're gonna do the wave!" Instead of knocking him out the people in his section do it, hoping that he'll get tired and pass out after the third time it goes around.

What if the wave never stopped? That'd be too cool to do during the opposing teams offensive plays. One wave is nothing to cry about. BUT ONE CONTINOUS WAVE....that'd make them sick.

I'm not arguing whether it's "cool" or not. I could care less about that. It's just that, when I'm watching a game...I'm passionate about...I'm involved. I feel like I'm in battle just like the guys on the field...I don't want to have to concern myself with some freakin' wave that some drunk guy and/or casual fan started. The wave just disturbs my "zone"
