Okay, so you guys say that Ramsey will become better in the future (I agree with that). So, if Pennington took two years to become what he is now, how long will it take PRam? Will Gibbs still be around?

Gibbs will be around long enough to either see Ramsey make it or break it. That I'm certain of.

ok HatsOff, please explain why you think PRam won't be an elite QB.
His numbers while under extreme duress are pretty good. He has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and when given time has had a very nice touch on the long ball. I watched every game last year and he also made a lot of nice improv plays while on the move. He has slow feet, but that will get better with time and coaching. He releases the ball a bit slow, but that can also be coached out of him.
You don't have to be fleet of foot in this league. You just have to feel the pass rush. Peyton Manning, Dan Marino are perfect examples of this. Patrick is used to having more guys come at him then he can sidestep.
I don't believe he is gunshy, I'm starting to think that he's just young, and a QB competition where he's clearly the underdog is just too much for his young mind.
There is a reason why just about every team and especially their fans in this league would love to get their hands on this guy. He's got huge upside. I don't understand where you get the idea that he is so average. Fact is, he is a 3rd year player who was thrown into the fire immediately with a college offense against the best players in the world and did pretty damn good. Given as great a system as Joe Gibbs brings to the table, this guy is gonna tear this league up for a long time, and you better hope he does it for YOUR team, the Washington Redskins. We've had a lot of Bums play QB for us since Joe left, and Ramsey aint one of them. Appreciate him for what he is and will be.

Scottskins, You are telling me that his numbers were pretty good with the old ball coach. Okay, well have you seen his numbers in the pre-season so far? They're pitiful....worse than Hasselbeck's. Don't tell me that this is only preseason and none of this means anything...I'm tired of that BS.
I also watched ALL the games last year and from my point of view, he has absolutely no pocket presence, and for some reason takes the sack rather than trying to get away from it and make a play.
Is he valuable? Of course...he still has a chance to snap out of it and become a great Quarterback. Patrick Ramsey will become a good quarterback ONLY after years of training and experience. And at this point, I do not think we as a team have time for this. If he is so valuable, why not trade him and get some other great players. I think with Brunell and Hasselbeck, we will have a decent QB unit. Not the great, but it will work for JGibbs.

Ok first of all I'm not Scottskins but I'm gonna answer some of this. Hasselbeck was against 3rd stringers at best. And I think you are confused here. We are not saying he is great now. He needs to be taught. Most QB gurus will tell you that rookies need time to adjust to the NFL. Well Patrick never got that adjustment time under a veteran QB or a good NFL coach for that matter. He is going to need time to adjust now. (Example Eli in NY) Think of him as a rookie. Learning the NFL for the first time, after being thrown in the fire many many times.
I find it hard to believe that every other dang player on this time easily gets to use the excuse that Spurrier and his play calling sucked but it doesn't fly for our QB. The one who took the brunt of the bad play calling and coaching.

PRam is just one of those guys that's so hard not to like and root for. He really disappointed me during training camp this year. He seems to have lost a lot of confidence and then he just buckled when he was faced with some competition. I'm rooting for him to turn things around and to be the QB of the future for the Skins

well. I'll answer you this way. If preseason means anything, ask Gibbs how he lost all his preseason games and went on to win the superbowl. Preseason means absolutely nothing. Coaches run very vanilla schemes on offense and never have all their starters in. During the season, players play hurt. During the preseason they don't. What did Clinton play last week, 1 or 2 series? I missed the start btw.
I thought Ramsey had a pretty decent pocket presence last season. Of course some of the sacks were his fault(should have thrown it away), but 65% were the scheme. I'd 100% for sure have a guy take a sack rather then throw an Int. You have to remember, this guy was a 2nd year guy last year. Under the constant harrassment of the defenses, yes, I am very confident that he did pretty well. QBs in Joe's first go round sat for 3-4 years. It's usually 1-2 years now except for for a few exceptions. Now look around the league and tell me how many guys who haven't sat for at least a couple years look better than Ramsey(in league play, not preseason). If you come up with more than 5 or 6, you've got blinders on. It takes most WR's 4 years to come into their prime in the NFL. Why would a QB be less?! As I said, Ramsey is doing a heck of a job so far in his career, and with Joe here, he will be a great if not Elite back someday.

There is no question on the fact that Gibbs is not showing jack about his game in these pre-season games. I'm sure the motions he is going through are purely elementary compared to the whoopin many teams will see soon in reg season.
I am a staunch supporter of Ramsey and really thought he would give Brunell a run. Not really what I expected but I'm sure he'll bounce back. the kid is smart and has heart.
I'm very happy with the 3 QB's. Especially in Madden. I don't even care if Brunell goes out for a quarter in the game. ha.

For the most part... last year there was NO pocket.

If Ramsey needs a few years of training and experience and you're just find with Brunell and Hasselbeck what's wrong with Ramsey learning from a Hall of Fame coach the tools he needs
