The i should be capitalized - "I".

The uh, being the first word in the sentence fragment should be as well.

The yes, being inside the sentence fragment is not a proper noun, thus requiring a small "y".

Get it right man, get it right. ;) ;) ;)

Gosh, that article about bailey is making me...me... :puke:

Seriously, all current bias aside, champ has got to be one of the most overated players in the league...everyone keeps on screaming, "shutdown corner, shutdown corner"...he's not!

Champ is an above average cornerback in the NFL but he took a step back last year and EVERY redskins fan knows it...

Give me a break that the only reason he had 2 int's last year is because teams NEVER threw at him...and that's funny that he dismisses that he had off season last year, "the tape doesn't lie"...no kidding and if i had to watch his low lights again this redskin fan would be...mmh..mmh..ugh.. :puke:

Portis will have a bigger impact this year, than Bailey does with Denver.

Shannahan is going to answering a lot of, "Do you now regret trading Clinton Portis?" questions all season long.

That back will make the defense fresher, can score 2 or 3 times in a game and isn't usually all that affected by "cover corners"

Cover corners can stop one part of the field from being thrown to, but realistically will not shut down an entire field and will not score that often.

I know that people feel we paid too high a price but we got a lot of people with Champ's eventual salary and rumor had it from some people I talked to that the Skins let the second pick go to make up for what they knew they would HAVE to pay Portis on his new contract...

Just a few thoughts :)

Sorry big guy you know IMO here...backs don't control games any more than corners do...offensive lines control the game.

Gibbs will also have to anwser questions...it going to be fun to see how the trade plays out for both team.

yes - but with the line we have I wasn't worried :)

we'll see what happens the rest of the preseason and how it all plays out, but if Champ doesn't repeat his best year under the contract he signed, and Portis has an average year, Denver got ripped off IMO.

What would you consider average? I've been playing around with some of the rushing numbers from last year, and I've come up with some interesting things.

what would be the average for Portis? :)

If Champ intercepts 2 and gets burnt 4-7 times for TDs... while Portis has the average of his last two years... well - even with the second draft pick thrown in... who won?

Skins... hands down.

Ah, so you expect Portis to have a 1550 yard season and a 5.5 ypc. What if he gets 1160 yards because he only played in 12 games? Who wins in that hypothetical?

I can only spot 2 teams on the Broncos schedule that would give any corner a hard time - The Saints and Colts. He could get burned 4-7 times in those two games alone.

1200 yards and 2/3 of his TDs? better than we had from all of our backs last year

Champ having a year like last year - hm...

Skins still win :)

Thanks Hermann Goring...... could it be possible I did that on purpose .... :hmm:  ;)

I'd throw Carolina and Cinncinatti in along with those 2 teams.... Steve Smith and Chad Johnson are no slouches...;)

I don't really see it as a individual thing. If Champ's play allows the Denver D to do some other thing because of his cover skills and it helps win games, I don't care how many INT's he has or TD's he gives up. The same will can be said for Portis I could care less if he has 2000 yards..I'd rather see 1000 and make the playoffs...The bottom line for me is...is the TEAM be better.

DEHog made a great point.

Champ will definately give the Broncos more flexibility in their defense if he plays up to snuff. The same with Portis if he's playing up to snuff he'll open up more avenues for our offense to exploit the opposing defense.

Under the circumstances I think we made out well, I think the 2nd rounder was a bit much but its done and over with.

I know Chris ::grin:: but I have to tweak DE's nose about it - I can't help it :)

The word out of camp when I talked to a number of reporters for one of my articles is that they gave up the 2nd rounder because with Portis' new contract they felt they couldn't handle that money and the 2nd rounders money... they used that slots money to bolster his contract numbers to make him happy...

I got that from 3 different people - but take it however you want :)
