I liked your post, but I don't want you to be dissappointed in Joe, in case that doesn't pan out. What he actually said was that an UDFA would become a ProBowler in the league, not necessarily for the Redskins.
It's plain and simple, we don't need him. Even if he did move to DE he is unproven at the position. His numbers have recently dropped off and there is no reason to think he will be better than what we have.

I agree that we don't need him. He will cost too much and is NOT a defensive lineman.

Yes, and a pure one. No "conversions", if you please. Get me a guy that likes what he does and doesn't pine for his old job.
Get me somebody who tastes blood on a good hit...and not his own, either.
No more "Bruuuuuuce" nonsense. I want a 26 or 27 year old killer on the end.

P.S. The money's not an issue. Remember the speculation surrounding Mike Barrow? A lot of people thought we couldn't afford him but we got him.
Absolutely Jake! I think if he will convert then its more of a done deal than not. He'd be successful here, how successful....who knows, but money won't be an issue I'm sure all the teams looking at him are all about the "insentive laden deals with an option for 2005 or whatever". I say sign him if he looks like he'd fit our needs and throw in an option for him to stay on with us if it turns out for both parties.
I have travelled the net and found the Redskins promise land. This is, by far, the best site out there for Redskins/NFL News, Notes, Opinions, and so much more.
I just read a bunch of stuff on Barrow - about how smart he is - and I'm hopeful that he's as good as advertised. Still, Gildon is one of my favorite LB's (outside the B & G) and if we don't sign him - I hope he lands in the AFC. Gildon may be a tad slower, but I think he could handle the middle with ease. If Barrow becomes the Monster - COOL. If Mitchell outplays Barrow - COOL Too.
I was a little surprised by the Skins attraction to him - but Gildon can play.
I think of the skins adding Gildon and I immediately think of Bruce Smith....Deion Sanders...Stubblefiled...Fat Wussy...Mark Carrier....
The last thing we need to do is pay alot of money for someone past his prime who wont fit well with wht is in place already anyway. If we need a DE (and we do) get a DE!
