I dont wanna offend anyone, but I really dont go to alot of movies you know what the cost and everything, so movies like Soul Plane I will wait to come out on DVD. But a movie like Barbershop I or II i didn't mind paying for and taking my kids to. I generally try to only see movies that will have a bigger impact on the BIG screen and the superb sound systems at the theater.

I know alot of black directors are pigeon holed into making movies like soul plane, but i much rather see them make movies like "From Hell" which was done by the Hughs Brothers.

Thank you. I was not aware that the Hughs bros. made that movie.

I'm feeling you on the movie costs. It was great while I was a student to go to an AMC theater and get a student discount $5.00 ain't bad, but when you have to shell out $9 -$10 bucks for a non-matinee, it hurts the pocket, especially if the movie ain't worth it.

Can one get a refund if one does not like the movie. I mean, in this era where one can sue because coffee is hot, I'm sure the emotional & financial hardship brought on by Gigli and stuff can be fought for.... and won back.

I read an article in "GQ", I think, re: black actors and the lack of available roles for them. Kenan (from SNL/Kenan n' Kel/ Good Burger fame) was typecast for the Fat Albert movie. The article was interesting cause it brought up many issues black actors face, and how they sometimes have to struggle to find roles, often trying to beat each other out for the limited roles. (yes, I am aware that his happens among all races). You must read the article. I wish I was certain where you can find it.

I hear ya! Just make sure you don't steer conversations that way in the future with inflammatory remarks and blatant attempts of censorship.

Might I remind you:
...just because you don't like it you have no right to say it's trashy.REDSKINZ4EVER!!!

REGARDING SUMMER MOVIES:
Nobody's mentioned "ENVY". The pics of Stiller looking like Mike Greenberg from ESPN is too funny.

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." -- Inigo to Vizzini in response to his outrage. INCONCEIVABLE!

X2 kicked me in the balls and had me begging for more. I expect more from X3, including a 20 minute lesbian love scene.

i saw envy last week, and it was okay. probably a renter at best. not stiller's or black's best, that's for sure.

speaking of rebecca romijn stamos (from the lesbian scene mentioned above), if you're a fan you should see femme fatale. it is not for the kiddies, and if you found kill bill to be trashy, it's not for you. it's simply the hottest movie ever made.

I've seen a trailer or two for M. Knight Shamylan (can't spell)'s new movie "The Village."

Don't know if there are any other fans of his work here (6th Sense, Unbreakable, Signs), but the big thing with him is to get beyond his trademark surprise endings and look for what he's trying to say in the film. I thought Unbreakable was profoundly philosophical, and Signs had a lot of interesting/good things to say about faith.

Then again, watching cars blow up is just a good in my book, but I was just wondering if there were any other fans that were keeping silent like myself?

Part 1 was hilarious!!! Not only was it an amazing work of digital animation, but it was an extremely funny movie. You have to watch it more than once to catch the "little things" in the movie that keep you laughing long after having seen the movie. I definitely recommend it.

AS FOR MY REVIEW OF SHREK 2: It was a great movie. This time, as opposed to part 1, the movie has a storyline to follow. They introduce new characters that steal the show, and definitely lay the foundation for future sequels and "Shrek" adventures. Again, a lot of little jokes; some, in my opinion, innapropriate for young children (unless you're already teaching a 4-yr.old about scoring a beau and/or about homosexual tendencies). I must admit there was a portion in the movie that made me look at my watch to see how much was left, but boy did they make up for it with a bang at the end. Lots of music and fun. Two halos up! O:) O:)
