I don't completely agree with this. No doubt Haskins is good for marketing. But I don't believe we would have been likely to draft a first round QB this year if not for the Alex Smith injury. We're paying huge $$ for that guy. Team needed a first round QB on a team friendly rookie deal IMO.

Let's go with "Smith is done, McCoy is a career backup, and they don't have a franchise QB in Keenum."
There's no logic to drafting a QB in the first round to have him sit behind those guys. The only one he might sit behind under normal circumstances is Smith, who can't even play. They're not going to be able to justify sitting the future of the franchise behind a career backup and a journeyman. Keenum is on his fifth team in eight seasons.

Thats kind of how I see it.. Mahomes sat behind Smith not Case.
Haskins is learning the new O and coaches real-time with Keenum. BOTH are new. Thats where the sit and learn method gets skewed. Perfect world hes sitting behind a healthy and capable Alex Smith. That isnt the Case. Punny

Yeah, I agree with both of you guys on this. If you're going to "sit and learn", McCoy is the only one who knows the offense.

This is the Redskins we're talking about. It's premiere sports franchise.
NO way we're starting the season with the same circus QB crap-show as we finished last.
Even if he's a bit stiff, Haskins should inject some much needed excitement and fun to this franchise.
At the end of the day, that's what high-level sports are, right? Entertainment?

Vegas gives Hasksins second best odds for 2019 offensive rookie of the year.

So basically that means everyone is expecting him to start from Day 1,
giving some credence to common knowledge expressed in this forum.
What's the track record with this kind of bet? Any recent examples?

Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, (JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn, Josh Freeman, Tim Tebow and Blaine Gabbert Jake Locker Christian Ponder
But Colt McCoy should get the nod if he is healthy. .He did it the old fashioned way. He earned it. Let's see what Colt can do with a running game and some receivers. If he is healthy. If so you will hear the following.
Colt drops back. He has to scramble and fires in the end zone . Touchdown Colt McCoy to Trey Quinn. Even Trey Quinn getting some love from Colt McCoy with a new and improved running game and receiver corp as Colt McCoy is spreading the rock all around now.
Let's be honest. The reason no QB did very much including Alex Smith is because our offense was almost as bad as the Cardinals. And perhaps the Jaguars. Maybe. Let's see what Colt can do with some much needed
offensive line (running game and time to throw) and
receiver upgrade.

How in the *f$ck* does being a career backup with a 7-20 record (1-5 in Washington) earn a starting job?

He DID beat dullass that one time... Remeber???!? LMMFAO
Sonny9 I appreciate your optimistic post- but you for got the- "Colt scrambles left, throws a dart to a wide open... Linebacker. Thats going for six Joe"
Or the "Colt takes off right and breaks his leg after just getting the starting gig AGAIN."

That was before the upgrades to the line and receivers..Hell Alex Smith even struggled before the line allowed his leg to be broken too.

Stats tell the facts.... On average QBs taken in the first half of the *first round* of the draft start by week 3/4
