You aren't going to change it. Either live with it or root for the Ravens.
Sorry, but several of us were Redskin fans back when George Preston Marshall owned the team. GPM was far and away the worst owner ever in the NFL...at least until Dan Snyder bought the team. Dedicated Washingtonians cheered for the Redskins even while expecting losses. For instance, a preview of the 1959 NFL (Street & Smith's Football?) titled the Redskin section, "They Play, and Pray, For an Upset". Washington fans do not run up to Baltimore just because the Colts (and now Ravens) have a better team.

Nor should fans shout "whoopee" at everything the Snyder Redskins do. Snyder remains a bottom-feeder and Bruce Allen remains stuck in the muck on which Snyder feeds. Snyder arrived and brought Jeff George to play QB. What law says we must approve of Snyder-ism? Or the propaganda that spills out of Snyder's PR department?

I like the idea that we just need to add this player or that player and we'll see a better product on the field ... I just don't understand how this franchise becomes better with these 2 idiots managing and making decisions here

I'm all in on whomever we bring in to play

PLEASE explain why this franchise will be better doing the same things we've been doing since 1999

This season, I'm going to hope that we get lucky and win a bunch of games - there's no way we're winning because we're better

It's time to use the "R" word, my friends:

This team is in a rebuilding phase. A constant, maddening, rebuilding phase.

We've lost some good FA and are trying to plug the holes. There's no base here, no solidity.

We are in a thread titled "Transactions" -- lets open up another thread that's titled "Bitch and Moan about the FO"

I do think some of the players we lost are good (most are good backups), I don't see them being central to us becoming a playoff team. The cap limits who can be signed and retained. I liked Murphy as a player, in fact, I think he's a real HOSS but do I think he's worth $7 mil a year on the cap? No way. Breeland is a good player, not a #1 CB, would love to keep him but the skins are banking on Dunbar and Moreau replacing him -- for a lot less cap money.

The part I like the past few off seasons is we aren't going hog wild with big names. For them to let Hankins walk without signing him shows we have a number now (unlike the early years of Danny) and if we can't get it done, we walk away. Not that we won't sign Hankins but I bet it's when he comes to our price. The Skins are also watching who they sign. IF a guy is cut, then there's no impact on Comp Picks. Only UFA count against the Comp calculations. So far, Richardson (maybe the punter?) impact our Comp picks for 19. This is the Pats way to build...more picks the better as some don't work out. 3rd and 4th and 5th rounders are important to your team as they don't hit cap for much and you can see who is working out and who isn't.

This seems important. If we cut a guy and he is signed elsewhere, we get no compensation but if we lose a FA then we might get a compensatory pick. Is this what you are saying?

Thanks.

It is a mistake to let Breeland go, even with injuries he outplayed Dunbar or Moreau. I recall some boneheaded mistakes he made but he wasn't the only one making them, he should have been a keeper this year.

As I understand it -- yes.

If we sign a player who was cut, like Hankins, he doesn't impact the calculations for comp picks.

Conversely, if you cut a player, you don't get any credit in the calculations for comp picks.

I don't understand the calculations they use but do know they use the contract the person signs, incentives received for first year, to determine what a team gets.

So far, Cousins big contract is probably a 3rd round comp pick. Richardson's "biggish" contract would have been offset by Breeland, but that was cancelled. Maybe Murphy's, Grants, and/or Long or Pauls will equalize out Richardson.

Once Breeland gets a deal we should (might) get a later round comp pick in addition to the 3rd for Kirk.

Up until recently, you couldn't trade Comp picks, now you can.

You now know all I know about Comp picks.

I'd like Breeland back too just not sure you can justify him at 7-8 mil per year in cap hit...

He and Josh would take up 24 mil in cap. That's a lot.

WR Terrelle Pryor out. Goes to Jets.

Saw little of him last season. Just 20 catches in nine games. Thoughts?

High hopes never panned out.. I think he was injured in camp and never got to 100%.. He had some costly drops too.

Breelands deal fell through do to an accident on a golf course opening up a childhood injury on hia foot is what i read. So idk what will happen worh him.

I havent heard of us getting a 3rd rounder for Kirk bailing. He was a FA so i dont think we would get squat?

Yep, that would be sweet indeed.

Still I feel we are wafer-thin in every position.

This must be a +A draft. Too many holes right now.

But what glaring holes do you see- granted a healthy roster- other then RB?

- Receivers. No TE, assuming Reed will not play more than a third of the season. WR...Doctson ??

- OL is thin.

- DL is weak

- LB is weak

- Corner backs weak outside Norman

- Safeties

TE could use depth but not a hole.. Agree that Reeds chances of staying healthy arent realistic

Wr Doctson Richardson Crowder Hunt and Quick isnt an elite group but better then last year id say with addition- coupled with a more accurate qb should be a strength

OL was a strength.. And we even had walmart greeters out there! No way we have as many injuries there this year

DL could use some help but we had the 2nd best front 7 in the league so id hardly call them a hole excited to see Allen out there this year too

Kerrigan Smith and Brown are all probowl esque LBs.. Cant say weve had a much better squad LB core..um ever?

CB we will likey draft in the 2nd or 3rd.. Although, Having norman and Scandrick we are decent to ok depending on if any of the young bucks make improvement. Breeland wasnt waaay better then any of them- the drop off from Fuller to Scandrick will be shadowed by his experience i think. So can use help but not a big hole like rb

A good safety never hurts.. DJ was an improvement though

Basically what welch said ^^^

The most glaring problem is the terrible play against the run. We were DEAD LAST this season. That's a damning weakness in the NFC East.
That and obviously not having a decent running game. We needed up in 28th place last season. The combination is toxic.

Also the WR situation. There's no guarantee that these guys will gel with the new QB (hell, they didn't gel with KC either. Garcon and DJax were a better combo, no doubt).

QB: Too early to say. At the very least I expect a game manager.
TE: Iffy. Reed will be injured some time during the season. Vernon Davis is old as dirt.
OL: Injuries have been a plague for years now. Impossible to actually depend on the group.
DL: Good individual players, but somehow we ended up with a terrible year, statically, against the run. 32th place! What?!
CB: Somewhat solid. The group has a mean streak, but is let down by our terrible running defense.
LB: see above.
K: Solid.
Punter: Decent.

Do whatever you want with the D, shuffle them deck chairs around endlessly, but until we get a killer RB the team won't improve. let me remind you, the whole object ofr the game is to keep the OTHERS teams' Defense on the field - not ours! A killer RB and ball control is what we lack, adding another CB or NT ain't gonna make the slightest difference other than creating different talking points.
Grrr.

by cowboykillerzRGiii
^^^^^^ THATS what i was getting at. Our front 7 is pretty good. With Allen back and maybe a mlb addition the D is better then it has been. We just had them on the field to damn long- and injuries galore

If we had any semblance of a run game on O, then we make everyone better. So for me, RB is the biggest need

Junior Galette is out.
The Washington Redskins have informed linebacker Junior Galette that they’re “going in another direction” at his position next season, Doug Williams, the team’s senior vice president for personnel, confirmed in an interview Sunday.

The guy just couldnt stay on the field.. But was productive when he was.. Shame we couldnt get a deal on the 2 years on ir and one playing half the snaps- if that

Injuries have been a mayor problem around here at least for the last 10 years. Something ain't right.

Probably something to do with the conditioning staff.

But the underlying problem has never been truly solved, as Gibbs used to say: "you're only as good as your backups". There's little depth here.

We were in most every game vs playoff and Sb contending teams last year.. Despite losing more starters then most any team

We had a very tough schedule last year and had to play with guys who didn't start the year on the team -- 53 or PS. If we can just stay healthy, not 100% as no one is that, but a reasonable number of injuries - I think we'll be much improved. Not only are we adding a few FA's and Draft picks, we're adding back 10-12 guys from last year's IR.

Could anyone see us trading up to 7-8 if Barkley falls?
