I've been a fan since the early 80s. Just the thought of these guys pushing Scot out is making me feel like I'm losing my interest in watching football... I could never, and have no interest in rooting for another team, but if this is true, it might finally push me over the edge. I remember being so happy that a lifelong skins fan bought the team, as i wasn't a fan of Cooke jr. I thought for many years that while Snyder obviously was screwing it up, at least he was spending tons of cash cause he truly wanted to win.. I was wrong. He's a cancer to this team, and I am finally able to admit it. We will never win with this owner, and i feel it making me lose my love of football. Sad...

A ton of people are upset at losing SM? What has he done for this organization that warrants this type of response?

I think everyone needs to wait on making any judgements about this too. Why in the world are we assuming that "the team is pushing SM out"?
There are reports coming out that Scot was "sent home" on Feb 20th. We all know he hasn't been allowed to speak with the media in weeks. There was C00ley's speculation a few weeks ago. And now our GM is saying he can't be at the combine because of a 7 day funeral for his grandmother (who passed away a month ago)?
I'm not going to pretend to know what's going on, but I'd suggest people wait to take sides until all of the facts are known.

You have to admit the optics of your GM not attending the combine is not a good look!

Maybe, and maybe Scot doesn't need to attend the combine because it won't tell him anything film study hasn't told him.
Has the combine ever caused a prospect to go from "Who the hell is this kid?" to the prospect every team has to have?

Yea let's hope...Bruce just said he'll be back as soon as he handles his family matters...if that's the case why not get out in front of this and release a statement that he isn't going to the combine...they never make things easy!!

Its not a good look at all, I completely agree. There's absolutely something going on.
There seems to be this contingent of people on here though assuming that this is an issue with Allen/Snyder "pushing him out". I think we need to wait and find out what the facts are.

Come on, man. How many GMs aren't at the combine this week?

you clearly don't get it ... most of us think that Scot was the one that pushed for Kirk Cousins over RG3
maybe there's something to the rumors that Scot is on the outside looking in, because he was pushing to give Cousins a LTD
this is getting U G L Y - without Scot and with the money that's available, Snyder can go back to trying to buy every player he wants

It is - as long as Snyder's input is supportive & not decisive - Bruce and Scot have a lot of people around them supporting & giving input - primarily Bruce is more the financial wiz - Scot is better with the players & coaches - Scot may be taking some time off to get things sorted out; his people including Bruce can take care of things - we cannot go back to a FO primarily controlled by Bruce with Dan's help

Seems credible. Random guy on the Internet has the inside scoop on the personnel dynamics and inner workings of Redskin Park.
Feeling relieved.

All though I wish Scott the best and condolences.
Including hopes that he does whatever is needed for him and his family to be happy. Including sobriety if that's what he feels necessary.
I'll take an occasional drunk Scott over Snyder and Bruce any day of the week.

NFL reporters are actually giving kudos to some idiot that 'reported' a possible 3 way trade with the 49ers, pukes and Redskins
you guys will give credence to anything - even a sarcastic post from an Aussie for crying out loud
hopefully, for our sakes, Scot will be back on deck soon

That idiot was a reporter for NFL.com, but you're right on that one. There wasn't much "reporting" at all in that hypothetical he put out there. Must have been a slow news day.

Did that stop Aaron Rogers who had an even worse defense from making and going deep into the playoffs?

StorminMormon86 wrote:A ton of people are upset at losing SM? What has he done for this organization that warrants this type of response?
For starters he brought some respectability, stability and acumen.
The team had just fired Shanahan the RG3 vs Gruden drama and the record was below .500. Snyders power was absolute.
The addition of Scott McCloughan allowed for a man with actual GM experience to be in the same room as Snyder. To at the very least provide an alternative to Snyders plans.
Snyder hired Gruden to fix RG3. One year with Gruden and the team was below .500 . McCloughan gets hired backs the coach in starting Kirk Cousins over RG3.
Had McCloughan not been there Snyder could have fired Gruden like he has every other coach.
How did Gruden survive when the likes of Schottenheimer and Shanahan a two time SuperBowl winner were fired?
Even though a lot of fans were 50/50 on Kirk vs RG3. Me being one on RG3s side. I respected the decision with Scott backing it. Because I knew Scott would committ to his decision and help support Kirk and Gruden. Like drafting Scherff in the 1st round over Leonard Williams? You don't think he had protecting Kirk in mind?
If nothing else he allowed for Kirk to become the starter. No qb can develop while on the bench.
So losing Scott will be huge if it happens. Who's going to fix the defense? You think Snyder,Allen and Gruden are capable?

The Packers had a worse defense than ours? Nope. Don't let that slow down your argument though.

From 106.7
"After the draft, boom, he's probably gone." - @MikeJonesWaPo on Scot McCloughan
No way the Skins do this right??

That makes no sense. Why would McCloughan stick around for the draft if he's on his way out the door?

Let's hope SM returns sooner than later but if he is not on the job for the combine or the draft he needs to be replaced. In his absence we can hope for the best but based on history expect the worst.

Because its not his choice. He signed a four year contract with the team in 2015.

I just don't understand all this - why can't the FO be a little more transparent and what is to be gained from allowing all this speculation?

It's still his choice. He can resign at any time.
