exactly, not expecting much either - gotta hope for good things for this player and the fact that he really wants to play here is big also

Impending free agent OLB Junior Galette says he will be re-signing with the Redskins.
Posting on social media, Galette said he will be inking a deal on Wednesday. The once-fearsome pass rusher has missed each of the past two seasons with torn Achilles' tendons, suffering the injury to both legs. He turns 29 in March. Galette is a flier, albeit with upside.
I have a feeling dude is gonna light it up next year. These Achilles injuries were relatively minor. I've got more faith in him than I do in Doctson.
Well, I agree with that. And WTF is going on with Doctson?? It's dead quiet and most commonly no news is bad news..... And was this an issue that could have been realized with proper due diligence during the draft process????
Hopefully Galette can keep it together (literally) in 2017.

There is nothing minor about tearing your achillies tendon.

"Relatively" minor. He walked around with the 2nd one and was in disbelief when informed.
I was doing drills. The type of drills I was doing on Sunday. All of a sudden I tried to get off the ball and it felt like someone kicked me in the back of my leg all over again and I’m thinking no way that this is happening. I turned around and thought it was one of my buddies that kicked me in my leg, but no. In my head I’m praying like maybe there’s no way that it’s this unfortunate. I grabbed my ankle and said maybe its a partial strain. Because the first one with my left leg, I got up and collapsed. So I’m walking it off. I said let’s go get a MRI, I think I strained it. I’m walking around, they went in [after the MRI] and confirmed it that it was a torn right Achilles.”
The severity of acute injuries is graded based on the amount of damage to the tendon:
Grade I: Mild strain, disruption of a few fibers. Mild to moderate pain, tenderness, swelling, stiffness. Expected to heal normally with conservative management.
Grade II: Moderate strain, disruption of several fibers. Moderate pain, swelling, difficulty walking normally. Expected to heal normally with conservative management.
Grade III: Complete rupture, often characterized by a "pop," immediate pain, inability to bear weight. Typically requires surgery to repair.
But yeah, I know what you mean. Sure wouldn't want to tear either of mine.
Last I heard of Doctson was he was running in a swimming pool.

My take is that the players we had should have played better, too much was left on the table and that was the reason Barry left. Now the DC is Manusky, promoting from within, who learned coaching from Barry is calling the shots. It is my point of view that even with different players the result is going to be more of the same. If we had a superior coach and leader in a subordinate position he would have 'led from behind' and made a difference in how the players responded. Thats what leaders do.
Next season will look just like last season on defense. If we get anything from draft or FA that will make a difference it will have to be a killer RB.
Just my opinion.

Junior Galette - LB - Redskins
The Redskins already have OLB Junior Galette under contract for 2017.
Galette's one-year contract tolled after he spent all last season on the NFI list. There was some confusion after Washington tweaked his deal last week. Galette hasn't played since 2014 but gives the Redskins another pass rusher when healthy. He's expected to be ready for the start of 2017.

A little off topic... but it was mentioned that the news on Doctson is he was running in a pool. So, did he have the surgery??? Or is he hoping to heal and strengthen his injury through physical therapy??

He was running on the practice field today. Hopefully no setbacks and we have our first rounder healthy during the season. Trade Cousins for some first rounders and we could have 3 or 4 first year, first rounders on the squad.

Saw him running shuttles at Bon Secours last week... wasn't pushing hard while I was watching.
But, tell me... which team do you see trading 3-4 first-rounders for Cousins this year?

I think he's saying Cousins for 2, our own, and then Doctson as the fourth.

DeSean Jackson says he’d like to stay in Washington
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... ashington/
“I want to be here,” Jackson said. “My family, my house, I have everything here. I don’t want to be in a transaction, moving.
“Now the ball is in my corner a little bit. I can sit back and say, ‘Let’s see what we can do. Two-year, three-year, four-year deal? Maybe a 10—ha!”
That's good to hear, who knows? I thought it was interesting that he was still around here working out at Redskins park. Also interesting for all the noise about Philly wanting him back, that team has something like
$7m in cap space. Good luck signing DJax with that.

Chris Baker - DL - Redskins
The Washington Post reports the Redskins are likely to let DE Chris Baker walk in free agency.
Per reporter Mike Jones, the Redskins are "lukewarm" on Baker, who is expected to seek "significantly more" than the team is willing to offer. Baker has 9.5 sacks over the past two seasons, and was the Redskins' best overall lineman in 2016. Baker turns 30 in October.

Bashaud Breeland - DB - Redskins
The Washington Post reports there's been "talk" of moving Redskins RCB Bashaud Breeland to safety.
Per reporter Mike Jones, the organization appears divided over Breeland's future position. Breeland, who was projected by some as a free safety coming out of Clemson, struggled at corner last season. On paper, Breeland's measurables have always profiled him as more of a safety than corner.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins
The Washington Post considers the franchise tag a "high likelihood" for free agent Kirk Cousins.
Per reporter Mike Jones, there are "no indications that the sides are venturing closer in negotiations." Jones reports there remain "differing opinions" inside the organization regarding Cousins' "ceiling and worth." Jones also says Cousins remains "salty" about his handling by the team. Tagging Cousins a second straight year would cost $23.94 million, and essentially let Cousins call his shot in 2018. A third franchise tag would be far too expensive.

Pierre Garcon - WR - Redskins
The Washington Post reports the Rams, Eagles, Bears, Cowboys and 49ers are all expected to have varying degrees of interest in free agent Pierre Garcon.
Coming off the second 1,000-yard season of his career, Garcon has said he wants to remain in Washington, but he could quickly get priced out of their range in free agency. Going on 31, Garcon is durable, consistent and sure-handed. He'd be reuniting with Sean McVay in Los Angeles.

DeSean Jackson - WR - Redskins
The Washington Post reports the Redskins view free agent DeSean Jackson as "too inconsistent."
Reporter Mike Jones expects the team to let Jackson move on. For his part, Jackson has said he fully intends to test the open market. Now on the wrong side of 30, Jackson will likely be playing elsewhere in 2017.

Scot McCloughan - G - Redskins
The Washington Post reports Redskins president Bruce Allen has put GM Scot McCloughan on notice, and wants him "completely locked in on talent evaluation."
Reporter Mike Jones says Allen is "breathing down" McCloughan's neck after the Redskins' shaky 2016. McCloughan won't be allowed to meet with reporters at the Combine. McCloughan has provided needed stability, but he's been hit or miss in player acquisition. He hasn't quite lived up to the reputation he established in San Francisco and Seattle. Be that as it may, the last thing the Redskins need is another shakeup.

Kory Lichtensteiger - C - Redskins
Redskins C Kory Lichtensteiger announced his retirement after nine seasons.
Lichtensteiger spent the last seven seasons of his career with the Redskins, making 75 starts for the team. He opened the 2016 season as the starter at the pivot, but Lichtensteiger injured his calf and was placed on I.R. He returned late in the season, but Spencer Long had already taken over at center. Lichtensteiger, 32 next month, was likely going to be cut this offseason.

I wonder if McCloughan just doesn't want to be bothered by the media and this is his and Bruce Allen's idea to keep the reporters away? Perhaps it's wishful thinking on my part. Goodness knows the Washington Post hasn't gotten everything right when it comes to reporting on this team.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins
According to ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim, there's a "good chance" free agent Kirk Cousins will command a pricier contract than Andrew Luck.
Luck signed the largest contract in NFL history last offseason, landing $140 million over six years with $87 million guaranteed. Cousins has a real chance to top that if he and the Redskins reach a long-term deal. With salary caps on the rise, Derek Carr, Matt Ryan, and Matthew Stafford are all looking at enormous forthcoming pay days. It's a good time to be an NFL franchise quarterback.

Kind of an interesting comment from Keim/ESPN today:
Redskins window to ensure Kirk Cousins' return opens Wednesday
There are others paying attention to what happens. Multiple agents have said they would like to have their player sign with Washington -- if Cousins sticks around. How widespread is that sentiment? That’s hard to say, and money comes into play as well, but it is the thinking of at least some. In their eyes, Cousins is a solid quarterback.

J-Reed wants to keep the band together:
Jordan Reed lobbies to keep the offense together in Washington
Tight end Jordan Reed said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that the top priority should be keeping the players already on the team.
“I think first of all, we got to bring Kirk back,” Reed said, via the Washington Post. “We got to bring Kirk back. We got to bring two of our most valuable weapons back — Pierre and D-Jax — for us to have a shot. So, I think we need to bring those guys back and add a couple more pieces on defense, and I think we’ll be right were we need to be.”

it's very possible that Cousins could get a better deal than Luck - like the man said "it's a great time to be a good NFL QB" - many think that he's going to get a lot more than he's worth
there will be a number of QBs in the next few years getting even bigger deals than Cousins gets, due to the salary caps continuing to increase each year - all that matters is making sure we structure the deal so we can pay all the other players like DJax, Garcon and the many pieces on defense we need as well
no worries according to my main guy Darth Monk
