Seems like the logical thing to do.

isn't it great to finally have someone that tries to be as upfront as possible ...
until recently, people connected to this franchise and the DC area in general have shown a propensity for lies and misdirection

Franchise tag was best for both sides. We don't gamble a big contract on a guy with only 1 proven year. Kirk gets to bet on himself, and if he wins that bet, he is set for life, in Washington or elsewhere. There was pretty close to a 0% chance of a deal happening.

Oh and when it comes to inflated contracts, you can't look at it like things were even 5 years ago. Salary cap is jumping around 10m a year. So by the end of a 5 or 6byear deal, the team may have 30-40% more cap space than they do today, so you gotta look at the average of a 5 year or 6 year deal vs the average of the teams salary cap over that time period, then the numbers don't look as big, actually percent of salary cap wise, qbs are Maybe making less

That still doesn't mean that he "would have rejected $18mm a year". The team never offered him that much so you have no idea whether or not he and his agent would have accepted it or not. Right?? You're free to assume whatever you want, but you're stating something as fact that is not prove able.
