Maybe Griffin will shock me and become a competent pocket passing QB in the NFL and if it happens I'll be surprised and happy for him and for his devoted supporters like you SJ. You have been the most devoted and faithful of the Griffin supporters and I think I've been the biggest Cousins booster on this board. Unless he does a real 180 and develops into a real NFL QB I'm the guy who saw Griffin for what he is not what you and many hoped he would be for the Skins.

I have never hated Cousins or wanted him to not play well - can you say the same about Griffin?

Yes, I never hated Griffin or wished him to play poorly. That said, I never believed what he could do was sustainable and found the RGIII cult of personality annoying, that is different than disliking the young man himself. When he got hurt I felt bad for him and hoped he came back 100%.

I wish Griffin well werever he goes unless he's playing against the Skins but I do not expect him to really improve because I don't think he has the ability to process things fast enough to be successful in an NFL offense. I believe if he really had the ability to read and respond quick enough we would have seen some evidence that he was starting to get it in 2013,2014 and the 2015 preseason. He didn't seem to get better at reading the defense and going through his route tree. It was very evident that McCoy and Cousins understood what to do much faster than Griffin. Since the Skins give Griffin the starter reps since he arrived in 2012 Griffin should've progressed if he had the ability to process quickly but he didn't.

I hope Robert is really healthy now and has used his time this season as wisely as Kirk used the second half of 2014 to work on his shortcomings. I hope he finds a franchise that will help him prepare for success if he is capable of becoming a success in the NFL and finally that progress or not he doesn't get hurt again.

Don't forget, RG3 feels like "I’m the best quarterback’ in the NFL". Given this, maybe he thinks there will be many offers for his service.

As with most debaters in a losing battle, change the subject and make an accusation......

SJ -- just be a man and own up to it. I think Oldschool has proven he's got an eye for quality QBs you don't have.

there are many here that saw a lot more in Cousins than I did - no big deal - Cousins showed that he was even better than they thought as well

everyone has to admit that Cousins became a lot better QB in a season than anyone with any sense could have imagined - again, no big deal

I'm still not convinced, as some here, that Griffin is not able to play QB well in the NFL - I'm going to enjoy rubbing that in when it happens

that may not be the case and I will acknowledge that if it happens

we have a QB to build around - maybe Jay Gruden can have as magical a season as HC here next season - he's a lot like Cousins in my opinion - started out OK the first 2 seasons and now we get to see if he can take it to the next level as well - I was concerned for both he and Cousins after the first half of the season but Kirk Cousins and his assistants have done well enough that IMO Scot will keep him around - hopefully Jay Gruden will take full advantage of the situation here as this franchise has improved dramatically in 1 season and we're a lot further along the road to respectability than we all thought possible (except for JSPB & LPJ of course)

OldSchool was kind of out there on this one. I'm pretty sure if you look back to the start of the season, most people weren't claiming to see something special in Cousins. The only thing most people saw was that Cousins was a better option at QB this year than Griffin. That was fairly obvious to any objective observer IMO.

Based on the information from TC and the HC making Griffin the starting QB when he did not have to, especially when it seemed that he thought that Cousins was a better fit for what he wanted in a QB, I thought that Griffin would become the better QB of the 2 - that has not happened - Cousins has worked very hard and become a much better QB in 1 season than we all thought possible

Griffin might not be able to make the transition from the style of play he is used to - I still hope he can ... we shall see

Slightly threadjacking - but what surprised me wasn't so much Kirk's success - I believed he could be a good QB - but rather that he was able to do it without a strong running game. Our running game has sucked since Sean Lavau went down in week 2 or 3. Kirk needs D Jax and Jordan Reed much the way even a great QB like Rodgers needs Jordy Nelson. I thought this year, we'd shorten games with a strong dual-threat running attack. It's not Kirk that surprised me as much as the fact that the scheme has worked - credit Gruden big time.

Can RGIII be a good QB? Jury is out. I think not. I think he can win if he plays his 2012 style - it's an untouchable, exciting brand of football on offense that especially makes all-pro DEs look silly. However, he is always one hit away and his style only encourages the opportunity for injury. Why should I believe he can be a pocket passer when an athlete of his talent can't even learn how to slide? I am no "RGII hater" - I just believe what I see - a track star with one hell of an arm. If a team can work with him and fix his noggin (much of the blame can be shared with Snyder and the Shannahans), then maybe he will have a rebirth in the NFL, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah, my memory is of OS being more anti-RGIII than anything else last season. And this year, though he was still mostly anti-RGIII, he chose to put all his marbles in the pro-Cousins camp, and became his most vocal advocate on the site. But, when Kirk fell on rough times, he posted the apology thread, saying he was wrong about Cousins being The One. He quickly got back up on his horse when Kirk turned the corner, though. So I just don't see why some here are making it out like he's been on the Cousins train since 2012.

I think I have always been the most vocal Cousins support on this board. You are correct I never saw potential in Griffin and said so often because he didn't exhibit any ability to defenses and play in the pocket. In my frustration over the time invested in him I lashed out with criticism like calling him Backyard Bob and 1 Read Robert. The RGIII cult of personality annoyed me also, it was mostly the fans and the media but he was obviously full of himself also.

I've always thought Cousins had far more talent than Griffin because the most important talent is ability to analyze quickly. I think McCoy has more talent than Griffin also. I consistently advocated going with Cousins in 2013 and 2014. You are correct I did make a post acknowledging his many interceptions in 2014 justified the criticism he had received on the board and I believe I said he'll never become a starter unless he can learn to stop throwing interceptions.

This year I was 100% for starting Cousins because it was clear Griffin hadn't gotten any better and Kirk looked so good in the preseason games again. I think I posted the Skins should give Cousins the season before Gruden decided to do just that. I've been pro Cousins because he always displayed a high upside and his flaws looked fixable. I guy who can read and make the right decision and throw accurately and other things can learn to curb interceptions. Obviously Cousins has curbed his interception problem this season as I hoped and seems to continue to improve as he gets more experience.

Thanks Deadskins - well put - I have no problem with what I felt about Cousins and Griffin and while we now know we have a QB that we can build around in Cousins we still do not know whether Griffin can become a decent NFL QB or not - screw the haters

I just wanted the best QB for the Redskins and based on his physical attributes I felt that Griffin offered more upside than Cousins

I'm still not as convinced as some that Griffin is a waste of time and money, IMO, that assessment is wrong - we shall see

stupid deal IMO but they didn't check with me on this for some reason

actually I was referring to what someone may think he's worth in the future

I just really hope he doesn't land anywhere in the NFC East. Go to the Texans they are in a huge need of a qb and RG has a much better shot at starting. He is a good player, be a good player away from us! lol

I really doubt that there's an NFC East franchise that will be suitable for RG3 ... anything is possible but I doubt he's even NFL ready yet

most of this is just more media BS and anti RG3 hype - RG3 is almost certainly not going to the pukes

RGIII is an idiot there is no way around this!! Dallas is a walking death trap for QBs just
look at what Jerruh did to Aikman? and is now currently doing to Romo, that should be
more than enough to say **** this I am not going there

yet he still insists this is where he wants to be the man is clearly sick in the head
please call a doctor he needs immediate evaluation

Don't you know RG3 feels like "I’m the best quarterback’ in the NFL". Given this, maybe Romo will be the backup. [-X

That's not what I said...I said "entertain a back-up role" as oppsosed to going somewhere he could compete as the starter.

All of the teams that employ his style of offense are already helmed by franchise QB's. His only hope was to go to Philly if he wanted to start. His options are limited. Dallas may be willing to groom him... Who knows.
