Yep, and if he does so, he wins, despite having the disadvantage of picking first.

Three of this weekend's matchups have already been decided.

The only drama now, is waiting to see if 1niksder and/or Justice Hog will show up to give us a reason to follow the NFL games.

Deadskins has rated everyone from 1 to 12 - the top 4 get a bye the first week and you as the 4th seed get the top seed left which would be 1niksder if he enters the contest or Darth man if he does not (& B&GF/MS will get a bye 2 weeks in a row)

some stellar hognosticating guys ... especially the estimated total points
#6 Countertrey gets 2 right and is only 14 off ...
#7 Darth gets 1 game and is 34 off
#8 Deadskins gets 1 game and is 44 off ...
onto the divisional games ....

Bummer (IMO). Unlikely but I'd be pretty ticked if I had homefield ADVANTAGE, had a total in mind, the visitor took it, I was forced under or over, then lost on that.
But you make the rules ... just offering a logical suggestion.
Seriously ... thanks for doing this.
BTW - Did I win ???

Can't say I took this round very seriously. Actually, once I pulled within one game of Stahl then did not get my picks in I just started clicking on home team and flipped the Redskin game if we were on the road.
As far as getting my wish - I want the team picking first to be forced to pick a score with a 1/2 point in it.
Look how far off I was last year in this round. My total was 8. All I did this week was add all the under/overs.
We all appreciate your profound insights.

Then they would not have an opportunity to hognosticate the exact score. How is that fair? They have to pick first, their only chance of winning is hitting the number exactly, or the home team missing worse, or picking less winners. Sometimes the other team returns the kickoff for a TD. It sucks, but the points still count.

You're right - they would not have the opportunity.
OTOH - if that's the score the team with home field ADVANTAGE was going to predict - and it hit - then the team with home field ADVANTAGE would not have the opportunity - unless, of course, they pick first.
Believe me, I understand the points still count.
Don't worry, bro (not that you are). I don't think there is a perfect system so no matter what, I'll find something to post about. Just having fun - but I think I make a valid point. Another option is the home team having the option to co-opt the visitor's predicted score and force the visitor to go over or under it.
Please remind me about the last round. I want to say the players PM you with their picks and scores. What do you do if the scores are the same in those PMs?
Thanks again.

I'll see what I can do - the guy in charge here's been doing a great job and I'm not sure he'll listen, but, you never know ...
and - THANKS - it's a work in progress but I plan to keep at it ...
btw - good luck this week - maybe we can see what you've got left, next week

Which is exactly why the hail-Mary from the visitors should win the day.
But, never let it be said that I won't change the system if there is a better way to do things. So for the
NEXT round, this additional rule will apply:
If the home team wishes to defer, they can make their picks before the visitors, but then the visitor get's the right to lock in those picks by making their own picks for the weekend. And, the visitors' deadline no longer applies.

I don't get the point of this... if the visitors pick a score of 161, and I think it will be more like 172, I'm NOT picking 172... I'm picking 162. If the score is 162, I win. If the score is 161, he wins. No tie is possible that way... Why would you do anything else???
If the argument is "both of use think the score will be 161", all I can say is... who the hell is so obsessive compulsive that they are that tied to a freaking GUESS??? No one is going to retire from the profits of playing this game!!!
I'm just glad that DS has stepped up to run this... Thank you, sir.

There is no need to adjust, modify or change anything about the way this is set up - it works ...
THANK YOU DS for stepping up and running this after each season ...

Since this is in the Wild-Card thread, I will make this further clarification: The "NEXT round" above refers to the Championship round, not the Divisional round.

Actually, I think you do get the point.
Anyway, it's really not a big concern. It's just a fan forum and a football pool. I like the setup - best I've ever seen for post season. I just spotted what I think is a minor flaw and have commented. No big deal.
I too am very glad DS continues to step up to run this. He da man.
Hail to the Redskins.

Well I guess we simply disagree that "the hail-Mary from the visitors should win the day" and that what I said is "why" but I'll give you this - I respect your flexibility and I dig your alternative.
Nice.
